RINGOLD, EDWARD

Rank and organization: Coxswain, U.S. Navy. Born: 1827, Baltimore, Md. Accredited to: Maryland. G.O. No.: 17, 10 July 1863. Citation: Served as coxswain on board the U.S.S. Wabash in the engagement at Pocataligo, 22 October 1862. Soliciting permission to accompany the howitzer corps, and performing his duty with such gallantry and presence of mind as to attract the attention of all around him, Ringold, knowing there was a scarcity of ammunition, went through the whole line of fire with his shirt slung over his shoulder filled with fixed ammunition which he had brought from 2 miles to the rear of the lines.

My step father was George Turner Ringold. His father was Lawrence Baines Ringold and his mother, Dorthy Turner-Ringold. He had 2 brothers, Larry and Steven. I grew up in Burlington, Iowa and I am pretty sure he grew up there too.......but other than that I have no other information.

Hi! My name is Latitsha Ringo I am located in in Mobile, Alabama. I recently learned that my grandfather was from Greensville, MS. I know that his parents names was Ike Ringold and Corine Ringold. He died in 1954 at the age of 43. If anyone can give me any kind of information. I will be very greatful. My family would love to meet my grandfather side. Especially my father and my aunts. Sharon, my father is from Cleveland, MS and I'm pretty sure I've heard him refer to
Festus Ringold as his uncle. My father is Curtis Eugene Ringold and his father was
Curis Orlando Ringold. I beleive Fetus was my grandfather's brother. My father has

Thomas Francis Montgomery m. FNU Ringold

Am looking for information on the Ringold family (especially a daughter) for the 1700s and earlier (possibly in and around Maryland).
All I know is that a Thomas Montgomery married a Ringold daughter (year unknown) and they had three children.
The only one I know about is Thomas Francis Montgomery born in Charles County, MD, on June 17, 1791, and that at age 7 (1798/99?) he was orphaned and raised by an Uncle James Montgomery. At age 21 (1812), Thomas Francis went to Bardstown, KY, later married a Clotilda Wathen and they had 10 children.
I would greatly appreciate it if anyone can add to my Ringold information.
