Hello,

My name is Isabelle Rion and I'm coming from Switzerland. Your family is coming from the place called "Val d'Anniviers" who is in "Valais" in Switzerland, if you want to have informations, you can go to this adress : www.aveg.ch. It's in french, but you will find an article about Tabin's family.
Rion and Tabin's families are catholic and esthablished in "val d'Anniviers" since XVs.
My Grand Grand father was called Basile Joseph... and Crescence is a french name used only in "Val d'anniviers"!
I dont think your family is from France... but a lot of the immigrated swiss families take boat at "Le Havre"!

This is my cousin, Donald Joseph Rion HM3-E4-Navy-Regular. Born June 19,1942 to Joseph August Rion and Gwendolyn Irene Drake in Northbrook Il.He was married to Phyllis Testa on 1/9/1964. They had a son Donald, born 2/5/1964. On Dec.10,1966 Donnie was K.I.A. in Quang Tri, South Vietnam.Hostile, Ground Casualty Misadventure.He was 24 years old.From what I remember of conversations with my Mother, Louise P. Rion, Donnie was a medic.

Hello Mr. Parslow!! There has been a recent resurgence in tracing our family line. What we do know is that my Grandfather, Harvey Louis Rion b. 3/6/1889 d.5/16/1937 married Margaret Rozina Beinlich on 10/1/1913. They settled in Glencoe Il.(just north of Chicago) Their marriage produced 6 children, 16 grandchildren,23g.g. ch,1g.g.g. ch as of 9/12/1987. I have always wondered about Harvey's family as he passed when my Mother was very young. I have seen another page linking Harvey and Margaret,but it does not show a marriage or children. I am looking forward to learning if we can confirm Harvey's move to Il. and looking back into his family's past!!! Thank you so much, Bob LeClair

Hello all,

My father is Nicholas (Nick) L. Rion, and I am looking for some information about his father and mother. I never heard my father mention a name of his father, but from sources I believe his father to be either Gilbert Rion or Gerald Rion. I know his father was in the military because of stories my dad told me of them going to other countries. Also, I know that my father had a little spice shop in Lick Creek called the Lick Creek General Store. If anyone is familiar with any of this I would love to get some insight on his parents. They both had passed away before I was born.

Hi Shelia.. My husband is a Rion and I am working on some genealogy now. The Charles Rion you are speaking of, actually spelled his name Ryion. I actually have bits and pieces of information that goes back to James Houston Rion, which is 5 generations back. If you have any information on the Rions that you could pass along that would be great. The other daughter of James Melton and Addie Schloes Rion was named Lucille. Eldon Rion is my husband's Papaw and his daddy is Morris Rion

Just saw info on Missouri Rions. would like to exchange family info w/you. Mary M. Rion was my mom n laws mother, her father was Jerry Rion, Jerry wife (Marys mother died young) his sister Susanna helped Jeremiah raise his 3 daughters.

My mother was Julia Joan Rion. She was the youngest of 10 children of Jerry and Della Rion who resided in Neosho, MO but came from the St. Charles, MO area.

Okay, I just talked to my mom and got a little more information. My great grandfather was Thomas (Tom) Rion. He divorced my grandmother Mary and he remarried a woman. They had a daughter named Polly or Polly Ann Rion. He most likely had other children as well. My mom lost touch with my great-grandfather's "second family" about 55 years ago. Does anyone have a Polly Rion in their family? She would be between 65-70 years old now.

Hello! I'm not sure how helpful this info will be.....I am in Texas too and have the last name "Rion" in my family tree. My relatives were/are also in the Friendswood and Houston area. I wonder if we are related? I wonder if your friend who is adopted is related to me?

Here are the Rion relatives I can think of:
Betty Jane Rion is my mother (born in Houston in 1946)
Her father was Thomas Rion (I think Frank was his middle) he was married to Elizabeth. Elizabeth (Betty) Rion died in around 1953 and is burried in South Houston. Thomas Rion died in around 1971. His second wife Beatrice Rion still lives in the Houston area.

Thomas Rion had 2 sisters Louise (deceased) and Merrill Fleda Rion Caywood who lives in Friendswood.

My mom has 2 siblings:
Wanda Louise Rion Rihn lives in Seguin, Texas now.
James Rion lives in Houston, Texas (he recently moved out of Friendswood where he lived for many years).

There is only one male carrying on my grandfather's branch of the Rion family. My cousin Derrek Rion (James Rion's) son-- he has two toddler/infant Rion boys.

Since my grandfather and grandmother died so young, I never met them and hardly know anything about them. I can find out more from my mom if you think that would be helpful.

You have a very nice and informitive posting. I spoke to Charles years ago when I was doing some family researching. I was inquiring about my fathe who was born in Poughkepsie, NY. and later lived in Margretville when I was born. In 1958, I believe he lived for a time with some other family members in Kingston. I do not have info on Rions but this was the only way I saw of contacting you in reguards to Higdon in your family tree. You list a Matilda Catherine Higdon, daughter of John & Luvina Higdon. I am a Rion also from James Herman & Norman June Rion. James' father & mother were James Melton & Addie Scholes Rion, they had a set of twin girls who died close to birth or at birth, Eldon, Charles, James, Margaret, and another daughter, who I never remember meeting. By the way, this Rion Clan is out of Humphreys County, Tennessee. James Melton Rion's mother was Elizabeth Bumpass and has brothers that were from Ireland. I believe my ggrandfather Jeremiah Pierre Rion is the same person as Pierre Jeremie in your husband's ancestry. Jeremiah's mother was Marguerita and his father was Baptiste. He married Elisabeth, maiden unknown, lived in St. Francois Co. MO. He also had a sister, Susan. He was born in Switzerland, but immigrated from Havre France in 1850. Jeremiah and Elisabeth had three daughters: Mary Mathilde (my grandmother) who married Christopher Wiegenstein, Nora and Rosa. Would love to trade information with you.

Have had no contact with any Rion's in the Kingston area. Rt. 28 on the mountain. Most likely the old man does not want any contact he may well be dead by now. He was born in 1923, 80 years old.

I have an e-mail message that my sister recieved from someone who visited this board with the e-mail address of sunuvwil@aol.com. This person had information on the father of Elisha Rion, whos wife was Sevilla Manley. Elisha was orphaned and raised by the Manley's and Daniels. They were originally from Calloway/Marshall Co, KY in the 1830's and moved to Johnson County, IL in the 1840's. If anyone else has any information that would be great as well.
