Death certificate info is not always accurate. It depends on the knowledge of the person who provides the info.
According to the Riopel database, Alexandre was the s/o Joseph Riopel and Catherine Lauzon who married 23 Feb 1846 L'Assumption, Quebec.

I don't know if I contacted you before this. I am the great grandaughter of Alexander Riopel and Marie Elise Dupont. I am trying to find out who Alexander's parents were. Alexander was born in Redford/Clinton New York in 1861. He died in Three Rivers Massachusetts on July 29 1925. I have a copy of his death certificate which states the his father was joseph Riopelle and his mother was Catherine Daniels. Are these names you are familiar with. My parents are/were Maurice T. Riopel (brother of Rhael E. Riopel) and Madeleine Marie Quenneville, now divorced. My grandparents were Alfred Riopel and Alice Carriveau (b. Manchester, N.H.).

My father had seven childred from a second union. Their names are:

Francis Alan (1954)
Gary Joseph (1955)
Ronald Edmund (1957)
George Paul (1960)
James Maurice (1963)
Susan Marie (1967)
Patricia Constants (1968)

I have dabbled in this genialogy from time to time but am now very seriously pursuing my history for my nieces, nephews and their children.

I know you have done so much work on this and I would like to ask for as much information as possible about my lineage. Do you have anything available in GEDCOM format?

Tis sounds like the Louis Riopelle that was married to Lydia Dion. They lived in Marshall County, Minn. He died in 1945. If this is your ancester, email me at jordancd1@msn.com.

Hi: Check St. John the Baptist Church in Hugo, Mn. They kept good records. Jerry Riopel lived down the road from my wife, a Brisson. I am pretty sure they are the family you are looking for.

My relatives still attend church at St. John The Baptist in Hugo. I have obtained birth and marriage records. I will check into this further for you. I'll be on vacation in Idaho and Washington for two weeks. Will contact you on return.

I know that church -- it is the parish in which I grew up. I tried to gain access to records about 2 years ago, but they won't let me see any (say it is Church policy).... has anyone else encountered this problem?

Well, pretty far back, but it's still cool. I am also related to the Riopel/Julien line you speak of, email me at FireLily130@aol.com if you'd like to exchange info. I was able to use Robert's web site about the Riopel name to track most of these ancestors. My mom is a Riopelle, the name changed after migration into Minnesota from Quebec.

Maxime Théodore Riopel is the son of Alfred Riopel (1855-1895) and Emilie Brisson married at St Theodore de Chertsey, Pro. of Québec, on October 24, 1876.

Alfred Riopel is the son of Louis Riopel and Elmire Madran married at Rawdon, November 24, 1846.

Here is what I have, though its not much.
Pierre Riopel was born in St. Denis, Ile d'Oleron, Aunis France(no dates). He married Marguerite Dubois(no dates or places). They had a son, Pierre Riopel, who was born in Quebec, Canada(no date or exact place). He married Marie Julien on 4 Nov 1687 in Ange Gardien, Quebec, Canada. They had six children: Marie Madeleine(chr. 29 Aug. 1688, Barbe(chr. 5 Feb 1690), Pierre(b. chr. 5 Nov 1691), Louis(b. 6 Sep 1693, chr. 7 Sep 1693), Nicolas(b. 9 Mar 1696, chr. 10 Mar 1696), and Marie Anne(b. 31 Jan 1699,chr. 1 Feb. 1699) and who married Augustine Letartre on 14 Jul 1716, also L'Ange Gardien, Quebec, Canada.

Hi,I am searching for information about my great-grandparents,Amelia Brisson (1884-1969) and Maxime Riopel (1879-1954). They both died in Hugo, Minnesota.
