Risners and Pattons

Howdy,
My parents are Ina Miller and Omer Gillum "O.G." Brewer of Breathitt Co., KY.
My father's parents are Forest Brewer and Orpha Gillum. He is closely related to the Grahams also. I don't know very much about his family.
On my mother's side, my grandma was Ella Miller, wife of Hargus Miller. Ella Miller was the youngest child of Abraham Bud or "A.B." Risner, husband of Fanny Patton. Grandpa Hargus Miller was the son of George Miller and Bettie Howard.
A.B. Risner was the son of Isaac Risner and Mary "Polly" Miller. Fanny Patton was the daughter of Riley Patton and Rebecca Allen.
Rebecca Allen's parents were Joseph "Moccasin Joe" Allen and Fanny Hagins.
I'm not sure who Riley Patton's parents were.
Isaac Risner was the son of Michael Risner and Sarah Howard. He was the son of Hans Michael Risner. That's what I know. I also have some dates and places, etc.
I have some family pictures (Ella & Hargus Miller, A.B. & Fanny Risner, etc.) I could scan and email them to anyone interested.
Your Kentucky Kin,
Rick

The shot inflicted
wounds from his head to his feet, some entering his stomach.

Risner was brought immediately to the Durant hospital where the
physicians probed for the bullets. They say there is no chance for
his recovery.

Risner has made a hard fight on the violators of prohibition and it is
thought by the people of Bennington that some law violator was his
assailant. He has been a deputy sheriff for three years and had done
very effective work in stopping law violations in the eastern section
of Bryan county.

***posted for genealogical purposes only; no relation***
Greetings! My name is Dorrisa Risner..I would LOVE to research my family history..I was shocked several years ago when I found out that my surname was German...so I am German-Irish since my mother is a Patrick! Most of my grandfather's siblings moved to Mich. to work many years ago..my grandfather is/was RB Risner..he married my grandmother Lena Howard Risner ...I'm intersted in finding long, lost relatives..and ANY information as to how my family got here and how long ago...

Sincerely,
Dorrisa

Floyd County Kentucky Risner's

I am looking for the father of John B Risner of Langley Kentucky born Jan 7 1887. Married Anne Webb and had 5 children, William, Sylvia,Emma, Oliver (my father) and Margaret. My father, Oliver, graduated Maytown high school in 1938. I believe an uncle, Taylor Risner, was my grandfather's bother. There maybe a connection to Lee Risner and his son Harris who were murdered near Alphoretta around October, 1933. Any information would be appreciated.

Julius Risner m. Rassina Dall

While reviewing marr. records in Cross Co., Ark I came across one Julius Risner (age 44, b. ~1841) marrying Rassina Dall (age 35, b.~1850) on March 1, 1885 in Cross Co., Ark. They were living in Walton, Ark. at the time. Does anyone know who he is, which family line he belongs to? Any information, comments or suggestions will be greatly appreciated. I'm especially interested in knowing why he might have specifically been in Cross Co., Ark. in the mid 1880's, the locale from where my family came. TIA.
Elizabeth Rissner, Warren Co, Tennessee census 1830

Anyone know who this lady might be?

1830 Warren County, Tennessee census
page 349, Line 20
Elizabeth Rissner 001001 - 00000001
(1 male b. 1816-1820, 1 male b. 1801-1810, 1 female born 1771-1780.)

The males could be (COULD BE, mind you) George W. Risener who married Rebecca Bonner (some of this Bonner family was listed on the preceding page of the census) and the Moses H. Risener who lived in Warren and Coffee counties until his death in 1876.

Any clue as to who Elizabeth's husband was? If we find out more about Elizabeth it could clear up quite a few Tennessee Risener mysteries.

Marriage record(s) for George Risner

I found the bio I'd been looking for re: Atwood Risner, son of George Risner & Rebecca Bonner. I'll put it in a seperate post. Then I found the following marriage records in the Choctaw nation:

RISNER, G W MACKEY, LESLIE 4 OCT 1874 BLUE

RISNER, G W MACKEY, SEALY 16 JAN 1875 BLUE

RISNER, J W 21 DICKEN, LILLIE 18 19 DEC 1907 DURANT BRYAN (Marriage book 3, page 69)

George Risner is the only Risner I've found who lived in Blue County. His second wife was supposedly named Celia Homer, a Choctaw woman whose family was prominent in national affairs. Any ideas why she'd be listed as Sealy Mackey? And I'm wondering about who Leslie Mackey was. Was she another wife? Or did they apply for a marriage license and not get married in 1874? If these two Blue County marriages were for George Risner, then is Celia Homer's daughter Caroline his child? She was born in 1875.

Any thoughts?

I'm trying to find out who the Dunlap and Risner were who appear in the Warren County, Tennessee Entry Takers Index to Plats and Surveys.

The applicants for land were Risner & Dunlap; their entry number was 3220, and entry was made in 1831; the land was surveyed in 1835 and the survey appears in Survey Book 3, page 3. There were 72 acres surveyed.

Wondering if this could be connected to the Elizabeth Rissner who is on the 1830 Warren County census, or could be Moses H. (Holland?) Risener who lived in Warren/Coffee counties.

Thanks!
Juli

risner

I hope someone has some information that may help me. I trying to research my family line, but I am have difficulty. My father is Charles James Risner and his father was Charlie Risner who married an Evelyn Gertrude Griffin (I think she had a sister and brother). They had two childred- Charles Risner and Mary Risner. Charlie (my grandfather) left my grandmother and married her sister Katie Griffin (sounds like a Jerry Springer Show) and they had I believe two girls and a boy. The girls are Viola, Barbara, and boy was Alan. Alan was shot and killed, but the two sister live in Tennessee. My grandmothers mother march the Trail of Tears and from what I know was 100% Native American Indian, but my grandmother won't talk about it due to her being descriminated against for her Indian ties in the small town she lived in. If anyone has any information that could help, I would appreciate it.

Risner trip to Chickasaw Nation, 1905

Recently came across a piece on the Web that details how several families from Magoffin County chartered a train in 1905 or 06 to the Chickasaw Nation in what is now Ardmore, Oklahoma and attempted an apparent settlement there. The only information on the Risner involvement is that the "Risner Family" was part of this group. Apparently, this was not merely a white land-grab scheme, as some had relatives living there already. I wondered if anyone knew more about this, and if so, what links to the Chickasaw the Risners may have.

Looking for Isaac Risener's War of 1812 records for sourcing

Does anyone have a copy of Isaac Risener's military records from the War of 1812? (Isaac married Amy Hunnicutt in South Carolina and was the father of Silas F.A, Susan E., Seth(e) Benjamin, Steele George Aaron & Celia Polly Ann.)

I have notes saying on January 22, 1814 at Pendleton, South Carolina Isaac joined Nash's Regiment in the South Carolina Volunteer Militia, and that he fought the Creek Indians in the War of 1812 with Great Britain. On February 11, 1814, he died of a disease that he contracted while in the service. However, I do not have a source for that information.

Does anyone have the title of the book or website this info came from so that I may check it for my sourcing?

I also have a marriage date for Isaac and Amy of 5 November 1804 in Pendleton District. Does anyone have a source for that info as well?

Thank you!
Juli

Just came across this today. I know lots of us had wondered what happened to John. He was a descendant of George Henry Risner and Mary Parsons.

From "The Pepperdine Voice", Pepperdine University, Summer 2002 issue:

John L. Williams (GSBM '78) passed away October 8, 2001, at Newport Beach. The day after Pearl Harbor, he enlisted in the navy and served in World War II.Following his career at Motorola and Ford Aerospace, he wrote an account of his naval service in Waters Aft. During his retirement, he became very involved in researching his genealogy and volunteered at the Zuggemaut in Laguna Niguel, California, to help others in their own genealogical research.John is survived by his wife, Esme; daughters Nova Wheeler and Michele Marshall;sons Dale and Rex Williams; and seven grandchildren.
Also signing were William's sons, John & George.

In 1840 there is a widowed Christiana Risener in Jackson County, Arkansas.
Benjamin Risener, 1850 Searcy County, Arkansas census

I'm trying to solve a riddle involving Benjamin WOOD and wife Milley/Millie. According to the 1850 Searcy County, Arkansas census, Benjamin WOOD was born abt. 1795 in NC and Milley born abt. 1803 in NC. Listed in their household are William WOOD age 15, b. AR and Sylvester WOOD age 12, b. AR. Also in the household is Benjamin RISENER age 14, b. AR.

Is Milley Benjamin RISENER'S mother? Or are Milley and Benjamin WOOD the grandparents of Benjamin RISENER?

I've found where Sylvester WOOD enlisted in the Confederate Army, 27th Infantry, at Carrollton on 7 November 1861. He joined his company at Locust Grove on 21 May 1862 at age 24. Coincidentally, a Benjamin WOOD enlisted at the same place on the same day with the same company, and reported for duty on the same day as Sylvester. He also gave his age as 24. Could this be Benjamin RISENER who used the name WOOD in adulthood? William WOOD, Sylvester's brother from the census above, also joined this company at Locust Grove on the same day. His given age was 28. Just something else that makes me think this Benjamin WOOD is really the Benjamin RISENER of the 1850 census.

Mystery, mystery!

Margaret in Coffee County, Tennessee 1870

For anyone researching Moses H. Risener/Risner in Coffee County, Tennessee:

His widow, Margaret, appears in the 1870 Federal Census for Coffee County, Tennessee, Sixth Civil District, page 64B, Lines 23-28. With her are sons Thomas, Frank & Michael, daughter Martha Adams, and 12-year-old Betsey Thacker. This family is not listed in the census index under any spelling. (I know, I checked every single surname beginning with "R." <g>)

Not sure who Betsey Thacker is, but a Martha Risener married Martin J. Thacker 24 November 1853 in Coffee County, Tennessee. In 1880 Martha appears as Martha Thacker, head of household, with daughter Margaret (the correct age to be Betsey of 1870) and son Jacob S.

Hope this helps someone!
Juli

Looking for information on eddie risner or betty patrick of Ky. They are my great grandparents. I believe eddie was born in 1880 and betty in 1887. betty was the daughter of mahala alspet and greenville patrick. i believe eddie to be the son of sam risner and mary canada. according to the risner family history books eddie died in 1910. However, my grandmother's birth cert states she was born in 1920. So, this isn't possible. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Chasity

I am looking for information on my 5GGrandmother, Elizabeth Risner. Her mother's first name was Sarah or Sarow? I do not know her father's name but for some reason William is stuck in my head for him. That may be nothing, I don't know. She married James Kendrick, which is often misspelled Hendrick as in the 1840 Census where she is found as head of house hold, widowed, with her mother living with her, and her children. One of those is John R. Kendrick b. 1831 in Giles Co. TN. Any information available on Elizabeth Risner would be GREATLY apreciated!
Misty

Who are these Arkansas Risner/Riseners?

I have two mystery men and their families in my files and was wondering if anyone can shed any light as to their family lines.

In 1860 Christopher Risener, age 55, b. NC is in Washington Co, AR with wife Winny (age 53, b. TN), Jacob (age 22, b. AR), William (age 18, b. AR), Martha (age 14, b. AR), John (age 10, b. AR), and Sallie Lucket (age 36). Interesting that all the children were listed as born in AR when Christopher, Winny, or any of the children never showed up in AR before 1860, and never showed up in AR again.

Then in 1870 John Risner, age 60, b. PN, is in Benton Co, AR in Osage Township. With him is a 35-year-old female Risner whose name was pretty much unreadable. Kind of looked like Anzartah. She was born in TN. Again, this is the only time they showed up in AR.

Can anyone help solve the mystery?
