I think that my family may have been from VA but cannot go back that far.
I can go as far as Joseph Middleton Rieson who was born 5.18.1861 in Oak Ridge, Mississippi to John Rieson and Amanda Strong (unknown birth places).

I found where Annie Rieson is buried. Her dad was Joseph Middleton Rieson. I am looking for information on Joseph. I am happy to share all my research.

I know your post is several years old but thought I would contact you to see what info you might have on the Rison's of Amelia. I have an Elery Rison b abt 1775. Elery marr Elizabeth Rowlett who was the dau of George Rowlett Sr. & Patty Branch. I have the following children for Elery & Elizabeth:
Pamela Hardy, George, Mary & Richard E. Any info on them would be appreciated. My husband's family were the Clarke's from Amelia & they marr into the Rowlett family.

Hi,
I found your query about Annie Rieson/Rison-- dau of Joseph M Rieson and Margaret Emma Carraway
I am trying to find where they died and are buried.?
Joseph and Emma are buried in Springhill Cemetery in Jackson county,LA.
I have located John and Annie on the 1920 census in Jackson county with their ch. Joseph and Emma are on the line above the Butlers.

I found a reference to a grave found in 1938 in Woodbridge Va, across the river from Charles Co MD.
The grave says
Thre----- Rison
Daughter of Bur--- Rison
Died 1698, aged 16 days

One idea is that the father's name is Burley Rison, the daughter may be a form of Theresa or a family name for the first name. ANY ideas as to who these people may be would be helpful! Thanks

Hi -
I have just begun to look for my G granddmother (Lillian Rison Hurlbut) and her family. Found her in the 1880 census at age 14 in Oakland, California.b. 1866 in California.
Her father (GG grandfather) listed as W. R. Rison age 43. Born in Tennessee. Occupation : Mining. Fathers birthplace : S.C. Mothers birthplace: Tn. Don't know if this fits in with yours but it looks as though there are not that many Risons around.
her Mother was Carolyn Lewis Tuttle B. Tn

Pauline E. Rison, 81, of Omaha, Neb., formerly of Loveland, died Jan. 6, 2005.
She was born Jan. 18, 1923, in Horton, Kan. She lived in Loveland from 1988 to 2000.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Janet Rison of Grand Junction; daughters and sons-in-law, Glenda and Larry Cannon of Omaha, Susan and Monnie Peterson of Elkhorn, Neb., and Sherrie and Chet Trotter of Olathe, Kan.; a sister, Leona Thonen, Powhattan, Kan.; seven grandchildren and one great-grandson; many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Glen A. Rison, three brothers and two sisters.
Burial will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 11, at Resthaven Memory Gardens, Fort Collins.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Red Cross.

My great grandmother had the surname reison. I am desperately trying to find out where she was from. I have come to a dead end. All I know is that her name was Mary Rieson and she married Nelson Swain, they had a daughter born in Abilene, TX named Helen Maria Swain dob 10-19-1890

I found a website www.foxearth.org.uk that has documents in East Anglia England. If you search the site for Rison or Ryson or Risen you find documents for a John Rison in the 1580s as a baliff and a William and Thomas Risen in the 1830s winning a ploughing contest as well as a John Risen later in the 1800s accused of stealing rabbit skins. Maybe this is where the Maryland Risens came from?

Have you ever heard of a Rebecca Risen. Born about 1854. Had a son in 1879 (Washington Co, MD) - WHERE HE WAS BORN IS ONLY A FEW MILES FROM W VA LINE- and named him Sam Yeakle.
I can not find where she came from, if she married and why did she name a son Yeakle when there is nO sign of a marriage or which Yeakle
Sam was my grandfather.
Any info on this family line would be great.Maybe my greatgranmother wasconnected to your grandmother
