Hilda M. Ristow

Hilda M. Ristow, 88, Wisconsin Rapids, mother of a Stevens Point woman, died Friday, March 12, 2004, at Riverview Hospital in Wisconsin Rapids.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Wisconsin Rapids, with the Rev. Matthew Doebler officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery in Wisconsin Rapids.

Visitation will be at the church from noon Monday until the services.

Taylor Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Ristow was born Feb. 4, 1916, in Wisconsin Rapids, a daughter of the late Anton and Martha (Olson) Stensberg.

She was married to Herman A. Ristow on Nov. 28, 1936, in Wisconsin Rapids. He died Oct. 6, 1997.

She was a member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Survivors include one daughter, Jane (James) Leahy, Stevens Point; four sons, Herman III "Bud" (Janis), Wisconsin Rapids, Karl (Jean), Naples, Fla., Bruce (Sue), Soldiers Grove, and Marv, Mauston; two sisters, Margaret Ilk, Arpin, and Louise Cepress, Wisconsin Rapids; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and two stepgreat-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by one son, Thomas; four brothers, Olaf, Edward, Pete and Martin; and two sisters, Inga Lutz and Nellie Ebacher.

Born April 20, 1908; died Monday, April 3, 2006, Mitchellville, MD. He was the retired Chief of the Geography & Map Division of the Library of Congress & a resident of McLean, VA for 18 years. His wife, Helen Ristow died in 1987. Survivors include his three sons and three grandchildren. Memorial services were conducted at the Falls Church Presbyterian Church, Falls Church, VA, Sunday, May 7, 2006.

I have a Carl Christoph Wilhelm Teske b-08 Sep 1870, Washington Township, Will Co, IL d- 21 Oct 1918. Married 27 Sep 1895 at Iroquois Co, Il to a Frieda Ristow. two children Amanda & Alvin.

S/O Karl/Carl "Charley" & Johanna "Anna" (Rehbein) Teske.

Brother to Albertine Louise "Christine" Teske, b- prussia August Teske b- by Kolberg Germany Dec 1857

I recently came across the names Elmer and Rita Ristow in my family tree. Elmer's Father(Fred) was the brother of my great-grandmother Florence Ristow(If that makes any sense).
I have just stated this "Branch" of my family tree. I am looking forward to hearing from any long lost "Cousins".

There is a James Ristow in Somerset Wisconsin who is the son of Harold Ristow and came from the Farmington area. He may be willing to help you with information. He was the eldest of 6 or 7 children. I hope this will help you find your roots...

For some time I've been trying to find a connection between the Kobs in Mi. and the Kobs family that lived in central Wi. The odd thing is : I am also researching the family of Karl Kobs and Heniretta Ristow, however this family came to Milwaukee Co. in 1863 and then moved to Clark Co before the 1880 census was taken. I have found them in the church records from 1886 to the time of their deaths: Karl in 1905 and Heniretta in 1917. Their entire family is listed in the 1880 census of Colby township in Clark co. They came from Pommeran. I note that your message was posted some time ago, if you have any hints of a connection I'd be happy to hear of it. Lookng for any information on Ernst or Ernest Ristow. Resided in NY City NY in 1869. His wife was Matilda or Mathilda Jarmon. He had a son named Fred in 1869 there. Fred was my Grandfather. Fred moved to Iowa and then Kansas City, Kansas. If you have any data on this family It could sure solve a mystery for a granddson.

We have an Otto Ristow that was married to Effie Buell they had four children Robert, Eva, May and James, Hazel and George....later they were divorced....the last anyone heard he got caught horse stealing....would be glad to share any information I have on him......All his children are deased...my husband was Hazel's son...

Ristow I'm hunting for is Laura who married a William and resided in New Lisbon. Believe there was some connection with Illinois. William worked on the CMSP railroad as did many in his family. Looking for information about Great Grandmother Elsa or Elsie Ristow. She was born in 1890 (birth place unkown) and died in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada in 1964. She married Richard W. Gustav Romhild in Canada. Her children were: Margaret Olga (O'Neil), Mona (Cooper), Lawrence Edwin, Edgar. Elsa and Gus owned a cottage in the Pembroke area on Lake Dory. OLGA RISTOW is listed a sponsor at the baptismal of her daughter Margaret in Ottawa (1910). Olga may have been a sister or her mother. The family were LUTHERANS. Any information would be helpful.

Carl who married Frieda Ristow was my grandfather's uncle. Carl's brother was Herman who was the father of Albert Teske, my grandfather. Carl's father was Karl (Carl) Teske born 1826 in Prussia.

I haven't heard about a Ristow or Teske reunion
in Woodworth, but when I saw Woodworth and
the name Teske I got excited because Frieda A.
Ristow married a Carl C. Teske and my
great-great grandpa was William Frederick
Ristow, her brother.
