I have Ritchie's from Salcoats going back to James (b.1740) married Susan Niven.Four Sons that I know of.John ( b 15/2/1751) James ( b 9/2/1754 ) William ( b 12/2/1755 ) Hugh( b 4/2/1756 )
William had a shipyard in salcoats with brothers James and Hugh and left in 1791 to found a shipyard on the banks of the Lagan near Belfast he was later joined by his brothers.
I have some further sketch information on John's family and Williams family but can't find info on Hugh.It seems that James remained in Scotland and I have limited info on him.
I am trying to establish a link between my GG Grandfather,who was a newspaper owner and publisher in Ennislillen. If you have any info I would be gratefull

I am looking for any info on my GGrandmother.
I don't have any family able to help me in my search.

All I have are a few bits:

Margaret Ohma Ricthey
Born about 1896 in Kentucky

I was told there are no birth records bc of a fire which destroyed all the records.

Margaret later married Edward Cantillion. They lived in Missouri and had 11 children beginning about 1915.

If anyone has any info on Margaret Ritchey/Richie born in Kentucky- I would love a reply! Thanks!

Hi there, I see that you have Ritchie and Fraser in the surnames you are searching.

I just started to look into my wife's family tree's. She has a distant relative

William Ritchie who married a Rachel Fraser (or Frasier?). Rachel was B. c.1910-1915. And was probably married around 1935-1940 I am guessing. I don't have any information on William Ritchie. They were from Scotland. But other then that, I don't have anything to go on.

Just curious if anyone might by chance have these names in a family tree?

Hi

Looking for the marrage between William Ritchie and winifred frances. I am having great trubble with this because they were both actors. william ritchie was born william munro 1874 (he also used the year of birth as 1877) he then became william hill on parents marrage, but took on the name Ritchie for the stage. In 1901 him and winifred were living in Hull both using the surname Ritchie.
Winifred was born in Brighton in 1879 she used the name winifred frances or francis but i do not know if this surname is her maiden name. Any tips or advice or help on finding there marrage would be great. they both went to the USA back and forth from 1905 until 1911 when the stayed overseas.

Vera Ritchie and Joseph Rothery were last known to have lived at Meadowside, Greenwich, UK, no marriage has yet been found, but her daughter's birth certificate shows mothers name as Vera Rothery nee Ritchie. Can anyone shed any light on this couple please.

This reunion may very well be a reunion of the descendants of William Ritchie and Lillian Neice. Perhaps the reunion poster, Ken Staub, will post more details about it.

My intention isn't to spoil reunion fun. I hope sharing my discoveries helps other Ritchie researchers sort out their lineage.

Until I researched the origins William Ritchie and Lillian Neice, I assumed that the family name "Ritchie" was of Scottish, English or Irish origin.

I discovered that William Ritchie was born and baptized as Guillaume Richer, in Montreal. He Americanized his name to William Ritchie. All his lineage, 9 generations worth, traces back to France. Lillian Neice was baptized as Marie Eulalie Joly in Montreal. Her family Americanized the name to Nice. Her ancestry traces back to France as well. I found that Lillian also descended from the original Richer who immigrated to Canada from France, but many generations back, so no one has to be concerned about pigs tails, or third eyes.

The only Ritchie branches in Wisconsin (and probably the entire US), of William Ritchie and Lillian Neices' family are their descendants (their children, grandchildren, etc) families. William Ritchie was the only member of his family to immigrate to the US. He had 13 brothers and sisters and they all remained in Canada, as did his parents.

I have mounted a mini-tree on rootsweb.com to show the ancestry of William Ritchie. It also has a list of William and Lillian's children. You can find it by going to the World Connect Project page, and entering the database name "wiscandeu",(without the quote marks) in the *jump to a specific database* bar.

I hope this helps current and future gene hunters of William and Lillian (Neice) Ritchie.

I have three original photographs of Lucinda, one alone (abt age 60), one with Lucinda and her sisters (all about in their 50s), and one with her husband (both abt age 75). Lucinda’s photo is a 5x7 frame, with an oval center. The Cabinet photo of Lucinda and her sisters was taken in Maysville (Mason Co.) KY, and the one of Henry Taylor Higgins and wife Lucinda is 2x4. I’d like to get these back to descendants or family members.

I found the family of Henry Higgins in the Denver (Arapahoe Co.) CO census for 1900, showing Lucinda’s date of birth (Jan 1852 Ohio), husband Henry (Jul 1850) and children Jennie P. (Oct 1876) and Ralph R. (Nov 1880). In 1910 Denver census, Lucinda was a widow, with 3 living children, and living with son “Espy E.”, a grocer, age 36 (=1874).

Lucinda Ritchie was age 8 in the Orange (Ashland Co.) OH census for 1860, daughter of John and Fannie Ritchie. Her sisters were Elizabeth, age 17; and Rebecca, age 13, who are the ladies in the photo with her about 1900.

I doubt it. His father (Ritchey) migrated across Ohio from Pennsylvania, and finally settled in Goshen. However, this line of Ritchey/Ritchies has not been traced backward from western PA to my knowledge.

It sounds like you have a lot of info on the William Burke Ritchie family. I believe that his son Jasper Newton Ritchie is my Ira Franklin Ritchie's father. I have no documentation to verify this and wanted to find out if you have anything to help me. I have been trying to find out about my grandad, Ira Franklin for the past thirty years. He would never talk about his family but he mentions his father's name was Jasper and his mother's name was Jane. Since Ira was born in 1865 and Jasper Newton was born in 1838, the dates seem to fit well. Ira said he left home about 1881 and he arrived in Texas about 1898. Texas census records also note that his father was born in Ohio.
Need any help you might be willing to share.

Organized in 1900, the Ritchie-Richie reunion is an association of the descendants of two brothers, John Ritchie (14 Dec 1810 - 2 Dec 1871) and George Ritchie (26 Mar 1813 - 21 Sep 1883). The brothers, sons of Samuel and Catherine (McConnell)Ritchie, were both born in Rathmelton, County Donegal, Ireland and settled in Waupaca County, Wisconsin by way of a brief time in Ohio.

Not too sure, my Lois Ritchie would have been born early 1900's with several siblings in a small Oklahoma town, I can't remember which. Sounds like she would have been older than offspring of the Nelson's. Another branch, maybe?

Hi,
I am looking for a Joseph Dawson, b c1780??. Don't know who he married. I only know of one son. His son was John Dawson, b 1810/12, a big, burly carpenter. John immigrated, alone, on board the Egyptian, 1830 to Western Australia, apparently under the employ of a Mr Aggett.

We always thought that he came from Newbury, Berkshire, UK because he named his property in Australia 'Newbury', supposedly after his home town. However, we can find no trace of any John or Joseph Dawson from Berkshire, with the corresponding dates.

It has lately been suggested that John may have come from the Castledawsons in Ireland. Apparently there is a place there called Newry - Could he have got the spelling wrong as was often done.

And of course, the question is why was he travelling so far from home and alone. Had his mother/father died, did he remarry....

I know this post was a long time ago....but some names sparked my interest. My grandmother was a Ritchie from Oklahoma and had a brother names Bee Milton that they use to call uncle B. He married Dollie Nelson and I show that their childrens names were Lois, Joyce, Willie, and B.M. Joyce is the only one I have info on. I do have a few photos also. Does this info similar to your Lois Ritchie?
