This is so weird! I just got on here because I was curious and found this post.

Charles is my grandpa. He did marry a Daisy Delight Raybourn. Orvil and Minnie were my great grandparents and they (Charles and Daisy) did have children. They had a set of twin boys, Ronald and Donald Ritz. And adopted two girls, Cynthia and Diana. Ronald (my father) married Nancy Greer and had two children, my brother Cody and myself (Taylor).Ronald and Nancy are divorced and have been for several years. Donald married a Nancy as well (maiden name not for sure). Donald and Nancy had one son, named Justin. Diana married Jeff Ware and had one son, Keifer. Cynthia married a Timothy Gericke and had two children, Christopher and Ashley.

Charles and Daisy and my father, Ronald live in Chanute, Kansas. Cynthia and Tim, live in Humbolt, Kansas. Diana and Jeff live in Olathe, Kansas. Donald and Nancy live in Arkanas. City unknown.

Charles has a sister names Louise who is married to Don Booth, and are still alive living in Erie, Kansas

I am a bit curious as to who you are and why you are inquiring about my grandpa?

You can also email me taylorritz@ymail.com

My paternal family was from Wheeling WV. The surname was Sauvageot. My father was born there in 1906, and his fanily was from the Strasburg area, with some on the German side of the border and others on the French side. They migrated to the U.S. in the 1800's. My paternal grandfatheer, George A. Sauvageot was a barber by trade. His wife (my grandmother) dies when my father was about seven years old. I have a portrait from a photography studio of him and his brother Burt taken at his final visit to the hospital in about 1913. I believe my great-gransfather's given name to be Victor.

In researching the parents of Rev. Solomon Ritz, I came across the Maryland marriages 1665-1850. It lists Solomon Ritz marrying Mary Wise 17 Oct 1808 in Washington Co, Maryland. Has anyone researched this further. I always thought his parents were possibly HENRY Ritz and Mary Wise.
Any further info would be appreciated
Thank You

Louis Ritz & Annie Ritz, Worcester, Mass, 1918

Hi I am looking for information on Louis Ritz. He was born in 1884 in Russia. Immigrated to england where he had a least one child Carl, and he also had a daughter Annie. His wifes name was Rachel. They moved to sweden. She got mentally ill and he moved to Denmark with his three children and a housekeeper around 1906-10. He immigrated to USA in 1913, and expected to had his children join him later. I found him on the US passenger list, and I found his Military record from 1918 where he joined the military for WWI. The military record shows that he lived in Worcester, Mass, and that his nearest kin was Annie Ritz, in Worcester Mass. According to family he died in US in 1918 from Spanish Flu. I think I found Annie Ritz as widow in Worcester City directories from 1920-1930, but not in US census, and I have not been able to find his death record. If anyone knows about Annie Ritz in Worcester, Mass. around 1918, or about Louis Ritz, then I'd be very interested.
b.r.
Jan

I have not found a Charles Ritz thus far in my search of ancesters. About 8 years ago I did some research in Wheeling and a review of old Wheeling City Directories covering the years 1851 to 1912 (some years were missing) and a CHARLES A. RITZ is listed as residing during 1898-99 at 15th and McColl and employed as a clerk at McClain's Drug Store. He is also listed with the same employment for the years 1911-12 with residence as 42 11th Street. I do not have any additional information concerning a Charles Ritz.

Hello Elizabeth,
My name is Carol Brinkman and my grandfather was Earl Retiz from Wheeling, WV! My geneology research unearthed some misspellings (or alternate spellings) of the name Reitz as well as some Ritz family members from Wheeling, so I was looking at the Ritz message board and did a double take when I read your note. It could have been written by my mother!

My mother's maiden name was Reitz, her father was Earl Reitz b.1886/d.1976, and her grandparents were Charles Reitz b.1856/d.1946 and Mary Ann Frederick b.1857/d.1939. In addition, Earl Reitz was a machnist, and he had a son Charles Frederick Reitz (my uncle. Charles Frederick Reitz married in Wheeling then moved to Charleston (Kanawha County), WV.
I believe Uncle Charles' children were all born in Charleston.

So you can see it was quiet a surprise when I ready your note! This is a very great coincidence!

As I said, I do have some information on some Ritz family members from Wheeling - mostly from
death records and headstones. If I can help you with anything, please contact me by e-mail:
csbrin01@gwise.louisville.edu

I was born in Wheeling as were my mother, Uncle Charles, grandparents and great grandpartents.

Hi. My name is Lara and I am searching for some family information on my Grandmother. Her name was Mary Ritz. She moved to NY and was married to Lawrence Edward Ennis II.
I know her family was from PA though I do not know where. She was born in 1920 one of eight children. I do not know any sibling names except for her older brother Sam who moved to FL and Her sister Leena (maybe Lena) who stayed in PA as far as I know. My Great aunt Leena had a farm I think I only visited once when I was very young. I know she had at least one son, but that ios pretty much it. I do not know my great grandparents names. All I know is they immagrated from Northern Italy and My great grandmother had red hair and freckles. I also know that the last name was changed when they came to america I think it was something like Ritzzoni, but I am not 100%.

Any infor would be greatly appreciated.
Laura

Well I do know the in my family line the name changed from Ritzi to Ritzie. There is a town in Germany called Ritze which is in the northern part of Baden-Wurttemberg. Based on the birth date and childens names you gave me, I still can not find the link between our 2 family lines but I'm still can not confirm the name of my ggg grandfather. I've seen postings that it is a Valintine Ritzi but I can not find any information to confirm that.

RITZ FAMILY OF WEST VIRGINIA

Elizabeth - My research thus far does not appear to be of any assistance to you conderning your Charles Ritz. My great-great-great grandparents, Volentine Ritz, born 1782, and Catherine Ritz, born 1786, maiden name unknown, emigrated to Wheeling, Virginia prior to 1837 from an area known as Alsace Loraine, which at various times has been a part of France and Germany. They settled in Wheeling and were accompanied by a son, John, born 1810 and a son, Jacob. It is believed at least one other son came with them, however, thus far his identity in unknown. While in Wheeling, a number of years ago, I reviewed all available old Wheeling City Directories from 1851 to 1912 for persons with the last names of Ritz. Directories were not available for each of these years. A Charles A. Ritz is listed in the 1907-1909 directory as residing at 15th and McColl and employed as a clerk at McLain's Drug Store. He is again listed in the 1911-1912 directory with residence as 42 11th Street and employed as a clerk by R. B. McClain. Please contact me in the event you bleieve I can be of any help.

Norman Ritz

RITZ FAMILY OF WEST VIRGINIA (Charles Ritz)

I am looking for information on my ancestor who was named Charles Ritz who was originally located in Ohio County, WV. He was from Germany. He was listed in the 1880 cencus as a machinist from German. I believe his wife was known as Mary A. He would have been my great grandfather. He had a son named Charley who later moved to Kanawha County and raised a family. He died quite young in a mining accident. My father's name was Earl Ritz. Any information you could provide would be greatly appreciated.
