Have a lack of good historians when it comes to my great-grandmother's first marriage. Sometime around 1900, Hattie Tacey of Essexville/Hampton Twp Michigan married a man named Rivard...probable first name was Albert...but those still alive aren't quite sure. They moved to Camden New Jersey for a few years, where their daughter Nellie was born. Sometime before 1905, the husband was killed in an accident and the mother and child returned to her family in Michigan. Months later, son Albert was born.
Hattie married her parent's neighbor, Frank Hugo and they had four more kids together. Nellie married Frank's nephew, Victor Hugo, Jr. and died from post-partum complications in the early 1940s. Albert died in the late 50s.
Everyone who seems to have known the actual name of Nellie and Albert's father took the secret with them. Birth and marriage records can't be found, and death certs don't name the father. Any help would really be appreciated.
