do you know your grandfathers birth month? i found in 1900 a james granger born sept 1899 living with his father and siblings. the first name of the father doesn't look like fred and it says he was widowed not divorced, but that doesn't mean much i am finding with the censuses. anyhow you may want to check that census out to see if there are any common family names. it is in fort ann, washington county, NY. maynot even be yours. not much luck on any other grangers.

When you say that no one else is recorded in the plot with Frank Gibson, do you mean on the stone? Have you called whoever keeps the cem records to check and see if there is anyone else in the plot? Have you checked ancestry.com regular records for any of the family? or looked in directories? click on my name and email me. I tried to do that with you but couldn't tell a few of your digits in the email address on ancestry. i will try to do some searching later on some of these names. in the meantime we have had alot of luck looking to city clerks for burial permits, or getting hints from obits as far as undertakers. some records for undertakers still are out there, esp if they have been in business for many years. We have that kind of great luck with a business called Farmer in MA. They have funeral homes in a few locations and are all branched from the first Farmer. Well, keep in touch and i will do some lookups later if i can.

Hi I don't have much time this morning but wanted to post a quick reply. Sadie (Real name Sarah) Rivet was born in 1869, I believe in Whitehall NY. (Washington County) She is listed at age in the 1870 census as daughter of Theodore and Rose (Emery). Rose Emery must have remarried a Frank Gibson because she is listed with Rose Rivet age 27 and a Sarah age 11 (as Rose Rivet's daughter) in the 1880 census in Cheshire, Westmoreland NH. Sarah had a lot of family from NH from what I understand (as a matter of fact Rose Rivet died in Keene NH and her father Albert Emery is listed in Keene as well. I will have to get back to you with the dates. Frank Gibson is buried in Keene, NH but unfortunately the names of the others that were buried with him are not recorded (but is a plot of 4) and I wonder if that is where Sadie is buried.

Sadie and Fred split up when my grandfather James A. Granger was very young. I believe 6 ?? (born 1889) so the date that Sadie and Trenholm got married makes sense. I believe he would have been raised with them.

Fred Granger (my GGrandfather) is listed with his son James A Granger and his first wife (Ruby) in the 1930 census in Worcester Massachusetts. In 1920 James and Ruby are listed in Boston, Ma. Shortly thereafter, James and Ruby split up and James and my grandmother Cecelia Donovan got together.

Also it is rumored that Sadie has native american ancestry - any truth to this, my mom looked very native.

Thanks.

Hi Yes this is my great-grandmother. Thank you for the response. I have not been on in quite a while. I know Sadie (Sarah) was born in NY.......I believe in Whitehall as I have found her in the 1870 census..listed as the daughter of Theodore Rivet and a Rosa Emery. I have gotten as far as Theodore's parents (Joseph Rivet m. Marguerite ???) and Rosa's parents Albert Emery m. Rose Shackett but beyond this point I have had no luck. Sadie's first marriage was to a Fred Granger if anyone has any information about children from that marriage. Fred and Sarah were my GGrandparents.

Thank you.

Then i just found Sadie and Charles in 1920 census still living in boston. She was like 51 years old. could this be yours? Her name was Sadie A.

Hi,

I am looking for a Theodore Rivet/Rivette/Rivers who married a Rose Emre/Emory/Emery. They were out of NY (I believe). They had a daughter Sarah (Sadie) who married a Fred Granger and later a Charles Trenholm/ Trendholme. I am just learning of this family history as my mom was adopted. I know of nothing else. We are trying to figure out if my mom had Native American ancestry, as we always teased her about looking like the Land O' Lakes lady. (dark hair/dark skin). Any one who has any information, it would be of great help.

Thank you,
Page

My Rivette (Revitte) family did not move to Detroit until the 1920's. They came from upper Michigan after migrating from Quebec. However, my greatgrandfather, Frank Rivett, had brothers - Joseph, Gilbert, Thomas and Denis. No one seems to know where Joseph went after leaving Quebec in the mid-1880's. Detroit, perhaps? Do you see any connection through Joseph?
Rivette lineage

There are many variations of the spelling of a last name. In some case where
a family member married or moved away they changed the spelling of their lst
name in starting a new life. Believe that is what happened
with Rivet/Rivett/Rivette. My ggrandmother was from Quebec and the spelling
that I have is Rivet but have some lineage that spell it Rivett and Rivette.

I am doing Genealogy and if you want to visit myfamily.com web page, please
e-mail at pdfrost@yahoo.com

Would lob\ve to make more family conncections.

Betty, this may be a stretch but it is worth a try anyway.
My greatgrandfather, Frank Rivett (1935-1896) migrated from Quebec to Michigan. He had several brothers - Joseph, Gilbert, Thomas and Denis. Thomas and Denis stayed in Quebec; Gilbert migrated to Montana and I have no info on Joseph. Do we have a connection?
I, too, am interested in anything learned about the Rivet, Rivett, Rivette branch who migrated from Quebec or Montreal to butte, Montana in the mid to late 1800's. I know nothing about them except that the name was Gilbert Rivet. His children were Mary, George, Edward and others.

My e-mail address has changed to: bb2b@earthlink

I am also searching for this elusive family who originally came from Canada. JOHN RIVETTS/ RIVET/ RIVIER, aka FAVINO RIVIER on a sons birth cert. which is as far back as we can find him in(1894). Born 1867/68 died 1942. The story goes- as a child in Labrador - Both parents died when he was young. He and siblings went to neighboring families to be cared for and work. He ran away as a pre-teen or teen. Lived in Quebec or traveled through(no dates, ages or names).
Did siblings go also? Follow later? Married(?) Zaudoruce, aka Dora Robert. Indian from either Quebec or Mass. She was the mother of this sons, Lewis(Louis),born in Middleborough, Mass.1894. Second sons birth 1895 in New Bedford, MA (no children) and 3rd son,Henry,b.1897)in MA. Family residing in Brockton,MA where he entered one or more sons in a french speaking school to live and learn while he sought work elsewhere. Family found in Lakeville Town,MA in 1900 on census then in Syracuse, NY on 1920 Census. Seemed to spend most of his Mass. years in Plymouth County or on edge of same. Parents and siblings names are unknown to us at this time and known dates are few. Labrador>Quebec>Mass.>New York. The daughter of Lewis/Louis has said her father wrote to family in Michigan, but no letters were kept or address found. Anyone have a story similar to this? Please help - contact me at we would love to hear from relatives no matter how distant - we are in our 70s. John was my husbands grandfather and we've hit the brick wall.
