I am sorry, maybe I was confused I thought we were talking about the american revoulutionary patriot, Paul Revere. "The british are coming!!"

Now I am operating on hear-say for this information. I have not found any evidence on this myself, I figure Paul Revere waws born somewhere from 1715-1740. The name spelling change could have taken place one or two generations ahead of Paul Rever, or by himself.

Julie Ellender, d/o Michel Ellender, was my great-great-grandfather. She married Francois Louviere; no parentage for him. The daughter of Julie and Francois, Arthemise Demoine Louviere, married my great-great-grandfather, Henri Hargroder. I have copies of original marriage documents for Henri Hargroder and Arthemise Louviere.

On another notes, I've been trying to contact Hebert Publications to purchase the SWLR CD 101, but cannot get answers/responses to phone calls or emails.

I believe that the Thomas Riviere you are searching for is the son of Richard Riviere, the first Riviere to come into Upson County Georgia around 1826. Thomas had two brothers, Francis and Milton. The middle initial for Thomas is W. I do not know what the W stands for. This information is located in the Early Upson County history.

I am looking for Sarah Riviere who married William Harbuck in Upson County, GA on 11 August 1847. She had two children prior to the marriage, Mary Penelope Riviere and Carter Haden Riviere.

Re: Armstead S. Riviere m. Nancy L. Freeman

Armstead was the brother of our g-g-grandmother Zenobia Magnolia, who married John Burt Taylor in Marianna, Jackson County, Florida. They moved to Henry County, Alabama, where he practised law, and then to Montgomery.

Zenobia and Armstead had many siblings, including Palmyra. This first Palmyra, who would be the aunt of your ancestor, married David Blewett, originally of NC. They lived in Columbia, Alabama, where they operated Blewett's Mill. They are both buried in Columbia Cemetery. We have a photograph of her shortly before her passing and can email it to you if you'd like it.

The first Palmyra, Zenobia "Noma", and Armistead are among the children of Henry Lawson Reviere, the Florida pioneer.

We have much about Henry's family, which hailed from Lancaster County, Virginia. There are several other researchers online for the families, too. On this site, Alonzo Cain, Thomas Ruffin Cain, and John Marvin Cain all have researchers into the family as they descend from Armstead's daughter.

Armstead and Nancy are buried in Alachua County.

Hi Katie,
The spellings are REALLY a problem with this family. The information I have comes from a series of vol. by Rev. Donald Herbert who transcribed many parish and church records in LA and SE Texas. When Julie and Francois were married (23 Feb 1824, Lafayette, LA) his name was La Riviere and their first child Artemise, 23 dec 1824 was christened La Riviere. But when Cleonise was born 6 sept 1828, she was christened Riviere. The other children I have belonging to this family are Clement, 15 Aug 1832, Clemence, 16 Oct 1834, twins Francois and Luc, 15 Dec 1837, Emile, 18 Dec 1839 and Joseph 7 Apr 1843.
I believe that Julie(a) siblings were: Marime, 17 feb 1802, Marie, 25 June 1804, Micheal, 4 mar 1806, Merzilda, about 1801 (died 1807 at age 6) Joseph Tillomine, 1 mar 1808, and Germain, 27 may 1809. In some of the records Julie's maiden name is given as Hellender but sponsors and parents show it is indeed the same person. (maybe a non French speaker assuming there was a silent H as in Herbert)
Does any of this coinside with your information? I also had a son of Julie born before the marriage to Francois. And there are reportedly children born to Christine prior to her marriage to Micheal Ellender.

Hi Pat. I don't have an Artemis in the family, so you helped me out. Check the spelling. I n 1850 Fransuar Revier was listed as forty-eight years old on the U.S. seventh Census. His occuption was listed as a farmer. That would ma
ke his birth year 1802 ( the census is not always right ) but we'll go with this one. He was born in Canada, but he made his way to Louisiana where he married Julia A. ( Julie ) She was listed as fifty- two years old which would make her birth year 1798. She was born in Loisiiana. While living in Louisiana they bore sons,Artemis b. 1824-25, Fransuar Jr. b. 1829, Saint Luke b. 1830, Amele b. 1837 and Jorge b. 1843. The name was changed after 1850. It was spelled Revier, Rivier, Riviere, Revia and Reviea.
katie

Karen and Katie,
Many Thanks. I guess I totally failed to see or make the association of the name Elenki for Ellender. My husband's line connects thru Julie's first child, Artemis b 1824/5, with Francois. She married Gowen Plummer.
I'm still looking for additional info on Francois.

hi pat
i have gotten alot of info from karen richardson-karenjohn@msn.com. she lives in high island, texas and works in beaumont, texas.louise ellender was married to charles cronea, louise is the daughter of julie ellender who had a son lazare ludowiski ellender. there is no mention of a father julie ellender daughter of micheal ellender of pa and christine trahan of la. married francios la riviere sr. and they are the parents of francois riviere jr. and clemance. so this is another twist. francoisjr.is louise's 1/2 brother and clemance is 1/2 her sister and louise was married to joseph's stepfather and matilda's father, charles cronea. crazy huh.
katie

I am wondering if you have any information about the brothers and sisters of Francois Riviere. If the Francois you mention is the son of Pierre Numa Riviere, then I have reason to believe that Francois' brother, Nelville, and his wife Louise Victorine Clementine Jolly were my great grandparents. This means, of course, that you and I may be distantly related. Please contact me via this message b oard or directly to my email address, westrich@mchsi.com and I'll get back to you immediately.

I am seeking information regarding Nelville Riviere whose given name is spelled variously on records of his existance: Nelville, Neheille, or Melville. Most often, however, it appears as Nelville, which I believe to be the proper spelling. According to a January 2000 posting on this message board, which was written by one Yvonne Riviere Pond (whom I am hoping to contact), Nelville was one of the children born (in Louisiana) to Pierre Numa Riviere and his wife, Louise Victorine Clementine Jolly. I have reason to believe that Nelville may have been the father of my paternal gra, so you can imagine how eager I am to get in touch with Yvonne Riviere Pond or anyone else who knows anything about this particular Riviere line. Contact me via this message board or directly to westrich@mchsi.com and we can begin to compare notes at once.

I have read your posting of the year 2000 and, since I am very eager to get in touch with you, can only hope that you still have the same email address. Among the children of Piaerre Numa Riviere whom you mention in that posting, you list a certain Nelville Riviere who was born in 1856.
I have reason to believe that this individual may have been the father of my paternal grandmother whose heritage I have been trying to trace for many long years. I would love to learn more about the Riviere family, to compare notes, and to share with you my reason for believing that Nelville Riviere may have been my great grandfather. As you can gather from this statement, I am a senior citizen. There's nothing I would love more than solving the puzzle of my background before I'm no longer alive to try. Please get back to me. Respond via this message board or write to me directly at westrich@mchsi.com. Sincerely, LoLo

I have found in the possession of my wife's grandmother - A collection of many postcards and photos and artwork of Lucienne Riviere and her brother Andre. Lucienne corresponded with a relative of my wife that lived in Louisville, KY and then Ahoskie, N.C. Her family name was Newsome. From what I can tell, Andre was born about 1905, since a letter dated March 1, 1921 says he is now fifteen years old. Lucienne appears to be in her twenties. M. Riviere is her older brother and participated in WW I.
There is also a wonderful photo of Sergeant M. (Mariel or Marcel) Riviere, dated Nov 1918. Also, there are a few photos of military activity. This family appears to be of moderate to high social and financial status. I would love to provide images to a descendant. I have attached images of Andre and Lucienne.

Armstead S. Riviere m. Nancy L. Freeman

Armstead S. Riviere and Nancy L. Freeman were my g-g-grandparents.Would like to correspond with anyone researching this family. I would like to know when and where they married and where they came from. Their daughter, Palmyra Riviere, married my g-grandfather, S.D. Robinson, in Florida. I would also like to know more about Palmyra's sisters and brother's families. Is Armstead the son of Henry Lawson Reviere, a FL pioneer? Any help would be appreciated.
