I am Looking for information of the RIXFORD family from there.
I have Emma Mc CRARY b. abt 1865 NY m. Mr.? RIXFORD and lived (1901) Rixford, Otto TWP. McKean County, PA.

Who was her husband and children? Where did they go?

Any help is appreciated. Thank You.

Apparently the village of Rixford was named after the RIXFORD family or was plated by a RIXFORD (maybe Sam Rixford?). The area owned at one time by a Blanchard.

And according to other posts, he family previously lived in West Union, Steuben County, NY in the 1800's, coming from New Hampshire.
Rixford is the second largest village in Otto-Township, located on route 246, commonly referred to as Looker Mountain Trail. However in a recent census report it says Rixford has a population 0f 572. In 1880 1, 127 residents probably due to the oil boom, but the population may not have lasted to long see below,.
The storm of November, 1879, destroyed the new church building at Rixford, and a number of derricks there.
The Rixford fire of May 9, 1880, occasioned by a gas explosion, destroyed seventy-five buildings, forming the business center of the town, in less than two hours, and burned up 70,000 barrels of oil and forty rigs.
The bush fires around Rixford began on August 31, 1881, near Baker's trestle, and spread rapidly, destroying twenty-four rigs and consuming large quantities of oil
