John Robbins, 80, Green Bay, passed away after a battle with cancer Sunday morning, May 27, 2007, at a local hospital. Born Nov. 26, 1926, he was the son of the late Frank and June (Collinsworth) Robbins. John served faithfully in the Army Air Corps and the Army during World War II stationed mainly in the Aleutian Islands. After the service, he pursued a teaching career. John began teaching in Elcho and later moved to Green Bay, where he retired after teaching for over 40 years. During his years of teaching, he also ran the soap box derby, coached various sports and special tutoring. He married Phyllis Huse on June 2, 1951, in Elcho. John enjoyed landscaping, politics, music and poetry.


He is survived by his wife of nearly 56 years; five children and their spouses, Deborah Robbins, Kathryn and John Wunderlich, Steven and Karen Robbins, Carrie and Kevin Tesch, Julie Herrscher, all of Green Bay; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one sister, Mary Gambsky, Menasha; sister-in-law, Pauline Robbins, Wausau; nieces and nephews.


Friends may gather at MALCORE (EAST) Funeral Home, University Avenue at Baird Street, Thursday from 3 to 5 p.m.


John's family extends a special thank you to the caring staff of Aurora BayCare Medical Center.
