Two Bodies
Found Floating in Ohio River at Manchester and Concord
The body of a man that appeared to be about 45 years old was found floating in the Ohio river at the west end of the larger island in the river channel at Manchester last Saturday about the noon hour. The towboat Admiral Dewey which is chartered to the contractors at Government Dam 33 just above Maysville, Ky. The Dewey ran over the body before it was noticed and later was picked up by members if the crew.
An examination showed that it had been in the water several days. It was roughly clad in overalls and a coarse shirt. In the pockets $2.50 in small change was found also a small card bearing the name of J. Z. Bentley.
The sheriff of Lewis county, Ky. was notified and the Coroner of that county held an inquest and the cause of death accidental drowning. The body was buried Sunday on the Kentucky side of the river.
On the same day, last Saturday at Concord, Ky., just four miles above where the other body was found, the body of James Robbins, a youth, was found floating in the Ohio. He is reported to belong at Montgomery, Ky., and was drowned off the steamer Mildred Runyon near Quincy, Ky. and is supposed to have been carried down the river as far as Concord by the recent rising waters.
