Looking For All Children/Grandchildren of Ella A. Randolph and Chester Robie

Hello: I am looking for all of the "Robie" Children of Ella A. Randolph and Chester Robie. Ella was born in Pennsylvania and Chester was born in Maine. Thier Children were George R. Robie, Elizabeth Linden Robie, Frederick S. Robie and Sarah L. Robie. I am looking for any of the Children born to each of these "Robie Families". "Ella" was the "3rd Child" of "Our Elizabeth Young Kier" and her Husband Nathaniel Fitz Randolph. Elizabeth Young Kier was the Daughter of "Our Thomas Kier" and his Wife Elizabeh Mounts. passed away on Saturday, August 22, 2009, at Fairview Manor. She was born in Erie on November 25, 1923,
a daughter of the late Paul and Mary Orczykowski Szczesny. She worked as an assembler at Elgin Electronics.
She was a member of St. Luke Church. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, ceramics and was known for her sweet bread. She enjoyed her lunch group of St. Casmir and East High School friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Robie in 1983,
a daughter, Nancy Tarasovitch in 1989,
three sisters; Irene Ostrowski,
Florence Wagner .
and Helen Aleksa .
and two brothers, Adam and Stanley Szczesny.
Eleanor is survived by one son, Bill Robie and his wife, Susana of Port Richey, Fla.,
four grandchildren: Mark Tarasovitch, wife, Denise of Erie, Michele Simmons, husband, Matt of Erie,
Stephen Robie, wife, Stephanie of Clearwater, Fla.,
and Diana Roulston,
a son-in-law; Michael Tarasovitch of Erie;
nine great grandchildren: Jessica Tarasovitch, Josh Kumer, Ryan and Peyton Simmons, Emily and Beau Robie and Conner, Colin and Cali Roulston.
Several nieces and nephews also survive
including Rev. Tom Aleksa of Erie.
The family will receive friends at St. Luke Church Wednesday from 10 a.m. until a Memorial Mass at 11 a.m. celebrated by the Rev. Tom Aleksa. Burial will be private in Calvary Cemetery. A. I think Cleonice was my grandmother Florence's Whittier McKeen's niece ( was her mother's name Persis Gallraine)? Florence had 4 sisters-Marion, Bernice, Helen, and Persis She was my mother's cousin - Edna Whittier McKeen Spofford. They had a cousin Rita that I am trying to find out about, do you have a clue? What is you father's name? I am familiar with many names but do not always know the connections. The five sisters also had a brother George. My grandmother(1886-1964) was the oldest and outlived them all!! Thnaks for the reply. Judy

I see this post was dated 14 July 2002, its now 9 July 2009. I am writing as I know of the people you are referring to. Cleo Robie is my paternal grandma and Walter Robie is my paternal grandpa. They had a son, who is my father and I am his daughter Crystal Robie. So Persis is my great grandmother.
I thought that was interesting, send me an e-mail if this helps you at all.

I believe that my fathers, mothers, father changed there name when he moved from europe to the states to have a more american sounding name. He was a lawyer in Ohio Joseph A. Robie 1901-1962. I would mabye like to get some insite what the spelling maybe was and how to continue the journey

my mistake before--the info i have is that mary glines was jonathon robies's second wife. I think that the Lyman you have is not the same as mine there was more than one Robie with that first name according to the book The Robie, Whiting,Carter and Towle Families.

Hi there! I believe that Toppan may have been a cousin to "my" Robie's. I have found out that they actually owned the Robie farm before the fire that destroyed it. Do you have any info on Lyman or Freeman Robie?

Does anyone know the genealogy of the famous Belgium-born artist Jean-Baptiste Claude Robie? He lived 1821-1910. Robie is considered the master of floral still life paintings, and also painted portraits of Napoleon. His paintings are in museums around the world.

I have info on that family. Mildred was not the only child. Candace Evelyn Porter b 1918, d Oct 20,2006. Mary and Burton Vaughn died during the flu epidemic in 1917-18 and Candace, who was just a baby at the time, was raised by her aunt. I have a lot of material on Albert who lived from 1833 to 1878 and his history. Very little on the descendants. I have forwarded you message to a family descendant who can tell you if there is any connection to your family member in later years.
He has had some health problems so if you don't get an answer let me know and we will try another route.

I found a Lawerence Roby, b.1739 - d.1817 married to a Catherine (no last name). Lawerence's father was William Roby, b.1696 - d.1775, and his mother was Elizabeth Owen. Elizabeth was the second wife of William.

Lawerence had a son named Owen Robey.

Lawerence was from Charles County, MD and moved to Bullitt County, KY. were he died.

The "e" in the Robey/Roby seems to come and go through out history. I now this happens a lot in my own line.

Hello Terry,

I looked through the family association records and found an Emma Louise Robie married to John Morrison (m. 7 May 1881). There are no children listed for this couple.

It does list Emma's parents as Daneil W Robie and Harriet Dodge. Emma had two brothers, Thomas Perley Robie and Frank Edward Robie and one sister Laura M Robie.

If this sounds like the right family there is a lot more information. I will be glad to share it with you.

Medal of Honor recipient 1st Lt. George Frank Robie of the 7th New Hampshire Infantry is buried in the New City Cemetery in Galveston, Texas. His grave is marked by a new government headstone denoting his service and his Medal of Honor; it was placed there by the Lt. Cmdr. Edward Lea USN Camp No. 2 of the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War a few years ago. Hope this helps.

I am looking for any info on Thomas Robie of Raymond, New Hampshire. Thomas was a Baptist minister. Would like to find his burial place. Dorothy's stone was turned into the Historical Society after the new road went though and I would like to place it with her husband. Thomas married Elmira Stevens after Dorothy's death and he may be buried with her.Thomas died in 1881 and Elmira died in 1887. Would also like to find the parents of Dorothy. My Great Grandmother was Fannie Lund who married Walter Robie. They had 6 children. They died in Wolfeboro and are buried in the family plot with most of their children. Same Fannie Robie??

I've just begun searching for my family. My Great-Grandfather was Walter Robie, he married Annie Lund. Their children were -- Elbridge, Wilber, Dorothy, Gladys, Mildred, and Sarah. The parents died in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire. My Grandmother Sarah died 25 Feb 2004, she was 90. She was the last of the family. Great Aunt Dot (Dorothy) had done the research on the family and wrote a book that I've never seen, only heard about. She had a son, Robert, who supposedly had all of her handwritten notes. I don't know where he is or where the book and research material ended up. She wrote the book using Dorothy Ashbey, I think.

Wilber was the oldest - 6 March 1898.
Sarah was the youngest - 19 October 1913

They are all buried in the family plot in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire.

Is George Frank Robie a relative?

If you know about this family line your help and insight would be greatly appreciated.

I am still working to find Albert's birth family with the hope we might put together some clues to locate them. I know that it was written that he came from Genesse County, N Y but I cannot find the family in that area.
