Classification: Query
Looking for information on these two people;
[John] Peter Lewis ROBIN wid. m. Elizabeth ARPIN, of St. Peter le Poor, on Oct 19, 1792, at St. Mildred Poultry [London].
[source: Pallot's Marriage Index for England: 1780 - 1837].
According to Peter's naturalization record, dated Mar 28, 1793, London, he was born in Geneva to Philip ROBIN and Francis DAUPHIN.
According to the Pallot's record, Peter was a widower when he married Elizabeth, but I have found no evidence of a previous marriage for him, nor do I know whether this event occurred in Geneva or England.
Peter and Elizabeth's son, William ROBIN[S], was born Oct 15, 1793 in London.
[source: William's late in life baptism on Apr 07, 1842, in Drummondville, Quebec].
Family lore has it that William's parents died c. 1795, presumably in or near London, but I have found no evidence of this.
In an 1821 letter, William refers to his uncle;
William Skrine
The Huntley [sp?] Hotel
Leicester Square,
London
and his grandmother;
Mrs. Skrine
No. 9 Gloucester Place
New Road
London
I do not know whether this Skrine connection is through his mother or his father.
Any help appreciated.
thanks, beth
