MUSCATINE - Irene L. Roby, 91, formerly of 1105 Westwood Lane, died Wednesday, Jan 26, 2000, at Lutheran Homes.
Services will be at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. The Rev. John P. Gallagher of the St. Mathias Catholic Church will officate. Honorary bearers will be Gary Herr, Eric Bartelt, Steve Temple, Steve Shenk, Larry Quirk, David Roby, Dwayne Roby, and Bill Fletcher Jr. Inurnment will be at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery at a later date.
There will be no visitation. Memorials may be made to the St. Mary Catholic Church or the St. Mary's Cemetery Association. Mrs. Roby was born on Aug. 3, 1908, in Ainsworth, the daughter of Thomas Roy and Laura Pearl Boyd Quinn. She married Wilbur J. Roby on Sept. 5, 1936, in Muscatine at the St. Mathias Rectory. She was a member of the St. Mary Catholic Church, the Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court Joan of Arc No. 524, and numerous card clubs. She attended Browns Business College and worked as assistant clerk at the County Engineers Office.
Survivors include a son, William John Roby and his wife, Judy, of Muscatine; two granddaughters, Stephanie Roby of Hollywood, Calf. and Terri Phillips and her husband, Ernie, of Muscatine; four great-grandchildren, Levi, Ky, Hanna and Hailey; a special cousin, Bernice Davison; a special aunt, Callie Hasseline and a special friend, Dr. William Catalona.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Wilbur in 1985, an infant son, Roy Quinn Roby, and a brother, Robert Quinn.
