I found a newsclipping sent to my father from my grandmother. It says that "our uncle John Rockefeller's father, William Henry Rockefeller, was a builder, who died in an old soldier's home in Bath, NY."

The family later moved to Oswego County but I wonder if there is anyway I can find where the old soldier's home in Bath is/was. I cannot find any other information on William H Rockefeller. His children were born in the 1840's and I'm guessing he died in the 1850's.

His wife was a Maria Hubbs. There were 3 children: William, John, and Catherine Elizabeth ('Kitty'). The family settled in Schroeppel, Oswego County where John was a canal boat captain. John married a cousin; Emma Candee later in life.

Family records sometimes spell the surname as Rockefellow.
