hi, i'm currently researching into some of my family history and i'm looking into a part of my family that i know little about on my grandfathers side. the only names i have are a Catherine Roddy (born 1904) who married a Philip Short(born 1903) in 1930 in Leigh, Lancs. I believe Catherine is definatly of Irish decension and the place; Roscommon rings a bell with some of my family members.
if this sounds like the people you are researching please get back to me as we know very little of my family past my Grandfather.
thanks, Rebecca

My dad is Thomas Roddy JR., his dad was Thomas Roddy. My dad has 2 sisters and two brothers. Michael Roddy, Ann Roddy, David Roddy, and Elizabeth Roddy. I have a younger sister, Sara Roddy. My sister and I have two cousins. Erica & John Roddy. My dad and his brothers and sisters grew up in California for the most part. Most of them are in the Minneapolis area. Except for Michael Roddy, Elizabeth, and Ann. They are all in the La Jolla, California area. My grandma lives in Minneapolis as well, her maiden name is Rosedale. I don't know ANY other Roddy's besides the ones that I named, I am very curious to find out about our heritage and who I am related to. No one has ever really talked about it. I only know we have Irish descent.

Hi,

Can you give us any details about your relatives? Where are you from, where they were from? I have lots of Roddy relatives, mostly from southwestern PA & South Jersey areas. They probably originated in Ireland, but have not yet been able to connect to whom or where in Ireland. My mother (1912-1992) was a Roddy, the daughter of Sydney (1870-1962) & Mary (Vickroy)(1871-1942) Roddy.

I'd be happy to try to help you get started, even if we are not related.

Sincerely,
Sally Huntley

I believe this is the same Helen Roddy, from Corpus Christi, who was my father's cousin. My father was Vincent Jerome Roddy, born December 28, 1913. Helen's mother was Suzie--I never knew her father. Helen married Rick(?) Pagano and had five kids, as I remember: Mary Ann, a boy, two twin girls and a fourth girl. I believe Helen's sister was a nun who died years ago. -Bill Roddy

whoops! Susan Augustus Rabb was the daughter of Peter T. Rabb and Mary Ann Crothers. She was born after 1826 but before 1837, closer to 37. Mary Ann's brother was Abner. Peter T. was probably the son of John Rabb and Cecilia Clark. They had a Peter born 23 May 1799. My Susan would have been her aunt.

I do not think this Suzanna is mine as she would only be 66 in 1850 and I have Susan Rabb, 80?, and her daughter, Lydia, 25, on the Wilkinson County census living near her son, Nicholas in 1850. This appears to be her relative. I have Susan born as 1788 by some other people's papers, but have not confirmed this. I have this line to present as this is my line. Still confirming numbers. I had not gotten past Susanna Roddy though. I have both Augustus and Richard Roddy in "The Natchez Court Records, 1767-1805" by May Wilson McBee. Someone on one of the boards asked about a Susan Augustus Rabb, so this could be mine. I still live in the Natchez area, but cannot get out to do much research. I care for my husband who is bed-ridden. My email is danielsbasketry@aol.com. I would love to hear anything you have on this line and will give you what I have. I have Margaret Rabb, b abt 1769 or 1765, m abt 1792 to William Clark, d abt 1830. I have her brothers, sisters and parents. Glad you answered back. Elaine Daniels

I think Thomas Roddy may be a son or grandson of Col. James Roddye/Roddy. We are trying to determine if we are descendents of James through one of his other children. We can trace our lineage back to James Harvey Roddy (born abt 1817) in Rhea County, but have not been able to determine who "Harvey's" parents were. Are you a descendent of Thomas or James?

I can't figure out who his parents are either. He was born around 1841 and I only find him starting in the 1870 Coffee Co TN census. He's old enough there to have his family started with Martha (thought to be a Knott).

It's certainly likely his father was killed in the war like so many.

Levi was living next door to my ggrandfather John Riley Arrick in Kaufman Co TX 1900, but Levi then moved back to Grundy where he died in 1921.

Some researchers say his father is Knott Roddy, but I don't see anyone by that name in TN or elsewhere.

Roger

Thank you for the information. Levi was my great-great grandfather and I have very little information regarding his family. Perhaps I can locate information regarding his family in Texas. I also had been told his father's name was Knott Roddy; however, I thought it was coincidental that Levi's wife's name was Martha Jane Knott.

I noticed Claxton photos in your family. Are they by chance related to David Claxton, father of Martha Ann Claxton?

Thanks again for your help.
