I'm wondering if any Roebuck researchers can help me with a John Roebuck who shows up in the 1760s and 1770s in Granville and Bute Co., NC, records.
In August 1762, he and a James Roebuck who appears to be his son witnessed the will of my ancestor Dennis Lindsey in Granville Co. Is there a family connection between the Roebucks and the Lindseys?
A 1778 land entry for James Hawkins in Bute Co. mentions that John Roebuck lived on Sandy Creek adjoining the land that had belonged to Dennis Lindsey.
Dennis Lindsey's son William went to what became Spartanburg Co., SC, and during the Revolution, William Lindsey and his son Dennis served in a militia unit headed by George Roebuck.
I'd welcome any information on these Roebucks and ties to the Lindsey family, and will gladly share my information.
