I would love to have a copy of the family tree up to the 70's. Mine is of the four that immigrated to the US from old Germany, one being your great- great grandfather.
I have been so busy with work, Fall cleaning and getting ready for a wedding this Saturday,
that my mind was working well. Just to busy.
Please contact me at dabs4@home.com
Sincerely, LaRue Roes

Mary Jo, Couldn't believe I would ever hear from anyone.
I have the Roes family,(four children of Wilhelm and Dorothea Roes, that immigrated to the US. I was in touch with Caroline, daughter of Minnie Roes. After receiving the book, I never heard from her again.
About a year ago, I started looking for the Roes ancestry in Germany. I have been in touch with a great cousin of my husband.
We started corsponding about March of this year. He has taken me back to the 14th. century of Roes history.
I asked many times if there was any direct decendents, Roes name; still in Germany.
he never answered back on that question.
I haven't heard from him for several months now and I don't know why I haven't heard from him.
My husband, David; is a great great grandson of Bernhard.
We just sold the Roes estate in Davenport, Iowa. It was in the Roes family since 1852.
I'm very interested in any family info you might have of the Roes family in Germany at this time.
Please E-mail me at dabs4@home.com.
You didn't give me an E-mail address for yourself.
Happy to hear from you Mary Jo.
LaRue Roes
PS, we have a lot of Marys on this side of the Roes' My mother-in-law and our daughter is Mary also.

Herbert,

Do you have any other ideas about where your family roots in Germany were? Or some names? I am not aware of other "Herberts" in my father's lineage, but I am going to be seeing him this weekend, so I will ask if he knows if he was named after a Herbert. Actually, there is another Herbert Roes that lives near Albany New York, about 20 miles from my father. They found out about each other by accident and have chatted occasionally. I don't know anything else about this man's history.

My father's recent lineage is from northern Germany, which is about 7 (car) hours north of Mannheim.

If there is something specific you need help with, please let me know.

Good Luck,
Greg

Greg,

I find it interesting that your father's name is Herbert Roes. My name is also Herbert Roes. So was my father's, my grandfather's, and my great-grandfather's. And to my understanding, my great-grandfather's uncle was also named Herbert Roes (all with different middle names except for my grandfather and I). I know my family comes from a Roes lineage from Germany. I know that they left Germany when the Kaiser lost power and that they lived near Mannheim before fleeing to the USA. I do know that my great-grandfather lived in St. Louis, MO before he moved to Kansas City, MO before WWII.

I don't have my records with me but I would like to know more about my family going back into the Germany days.

Thanks, Herbert C. I know that there are still people a Teichgraber lineage in Elmlohe, Germany. My grandmother grew up there before coming to the US in the late 1920's or early 30's. Her father died off the coast of Norway in WW I as a member of the German Navy. One of her brothers died in WW II. Her mother remarried. If you have an interest, I can get you some more related info, in the same time period, but I have no information about any of them moving to St. Louis area.

Greg

One of their daughters, Augusta Marie Roes, married George John Oltmann in South Carolina. They had another daughter, Alvina Magdeline who married Henry Carl Fred Peters in Summerville, S.C. Other children were Johanna, Fredia, Margaret, Fredericka and Grace.
I can't find any record of Albert and Johanna coming to U.S., but know that their children did.

Henry and Anna Roes

Janet,

I have Roes relatives that were in Brooklyn in the 30's and 40's. Unfortunately, I am in Antarctica at the moment, so my records are not with me, but I can email specific questions to people that might be able to answer them. My father (Herbert Roes) was born in Brooklyn to William and Bertha (Teichgraber)Roes in 1934. William and Bertha immigrated to NYC, via Ellis Island. They were from Lintig and Elmlohe (respectively) Germany. This is an area near Bremerhaven. There might be a relationship between William and your Henry, though I know that they were not brothers. I have seen pictures of my Gr Grandfather Roes (William's father) from a visit he had to Brooklyn in the late? 40's.
