I ama researching a Roessler family who lived in the Pittsburgh, PA area. Lorenz (Lawrence) Roessler (1854-1913) immigrated to Pittsburgh in 1880, married Carolina Schott (1861-1940) and had 5 children. Lorenz's father was Martin Roessler. I'm looking for information on Mary Roessler who is my 2nd great grandmother.

I don't know who her parents were.

What I do know:
Mary Roessler
B: Abt 1865 in Ohio
D: Before 1920 in Indiana (William is listed on the 1920 census but not Mary)

Husband: William C Ulbricht don't know the marriage date.

Children: Selma Julia Ulbircht (my great grandma), Estella M Ulbricht, Marie Ulbricht, Julius G Ulbricht, and Irvin Ulbricht
All the children were born in Perry Indiana between 1895-1907

Would love to find the marriage date and who her parents are or any other information that can be found.

I have a 3Great Grandfather Frank Joseph Roessler that immigrated to US in 1893. Was believed to have possibly been adopted in the old country many years before immigrating. Original name was Joseph Franz Roessler later changed to Frank J Ressler believed to had a brother Valentine. and His fathers name was Karl which died at 27 years of age possibly Russian decent....

Hello! I've just begun researching my great-grandmother, Antionette Roessler, who was married to Alfred Friedrich Clebsch (b.1864). Of course, it is difficult to trace the female side. She claimed to be a direct descendant of Johannes Kepler, but I have had no luck there. Anyone come across an Antionette Roessler in their searches or Roesslers in Bremen area?

Ernestine Roessler was the daughter of Hans Roessler and Charlotte Goldberg of Italy, married about 1858 in Italy.
Ernestine was born in Prague, Boehmen Koenigreich, Austria or Lieben,Czechoslovakia on 15 JUN 1861. This could be from when countries were taking over other countries and making them "their own". Hans was listed as being born in Koenigreich as well.

Hope this is helpful. There are lots of Roesslers to go through in many places.

Our grandfathers were brothers. My dad,Larry is now in Mountain View/San Jose CA visiting my sisters. I am not sure where in CA you live but it would bring great pleasure to my dad to talk with you. My parents did a Roesseler genealogy book for he grandkids and I'm sure he has a copy with him and could maybe help you with some missing information. So Thomas William Roessler was your great great grandfather? He was my great grandfather. I guess that makes us some kind of cousins,huh? I only know that he was from Thomigsdorf, Bohemia. Do you know Sister Charlotte Dusabek? Thomas was also her great grandfather. She has lots of information and has been very sweet to share it with me. She visits Lewis who must be your uncle? I have a photo taken somewhere in CA around 1955 cuz I was about 2 or 3 in it and Alois is in the center with my parents and Uncle Jack. I wish I knew the occasion for his visit. Your Uncle Lewis has the same photograph. Anyway....
I'm in California and I don't know where or what the DFW area is. I guess there's alot of Roesslers in Minnesota!?
Hey, your dad isn't a motorcycle rider, is he? People always ask me if I'm related to Larry Roessler.

My father Larry Roessler's father was Martin Roessler, his father was Alois (Louis) Roessler who was a brother of John Robert. My Tree also stops with Mathias Roessler.

My father, Clark Thomas Roessler,b.1919 d.2005, had a brother named John Mathias Roessler. Their father was John Robert R., b.1880 in Wisconsin d.1935ish in CA. His father was Thomas William R. b.1858 in Thonigsdorf, Bohemia,Austria d.1937. His father was Franz Roessler b.? d.? and his father was MATHIAS ROESSLER, b.? d.? I don't know anything of siblings, but their certainly could have been some. Any connection?

I've not been able to confirm. I do know that the birth mother's first name is Jeanne. I'm not certain if her last name was Green and the birth father's last name is Roessler or not...just assumptions at this point. I have note that the birth father comes from the Chicago area. The baby was adopted through the San Francisco area adoption agency and placed in an adoptive home in Southern California.

I haven't attempted any research in quite a while, but when I was investigating, I found a couple of Julius Roessler's in the Midwest. Not a common name, so you have to wonder...! Thank you again!

Thanks for your E mail. Sorry, but he is not the same man as my Julius Herman Roessler died at Henty, NSW, Australia in 1914 at 88 years and 5 months.

Seems like there could be a connection if both were born in Westphalia. Could they be part of the same family? My ancestor joined the French Foreign Legion, then ended up in Africa and England, before finally coming to Australia. Sounds like your ancestor had a restless spirit also plus a military connection.

We know that his father was a General in the Prussian Cavalry, but it is very hard to find information in Germany... I am trying to research in Westphalia at the moment... He was born in Minden Westphalia (1825) which was a garrison town, so this seems to fit. I'm sure he would have had brothers or sisters!

Sometimes childrens names can help find family connections -We believe that the General had the Christian names Carl Albert. *My Gr Grandfather was possibly named after him.
My Gr Gr Grandfather Julius Herman Roessler had children called; Carl Frederick, Hermina, Anna Christiana, Wilhelmina Emma, Hannah Helene, *Carl Albert, Ammelia Martha, Caroline Bertha Pauline, Clara Lydia and Herman Louis. Do any of these names appear in your family?

The only other thing that we know is that there was an Uncle who was a ships Captain.

Julie: The coincidence is pretty amazing; my great-grandfather Julius Roessler (whose middle name, if any, I don't know) was born in Westphalia very close to that time...I was thinking it was around 1832. I know nothing about his parents. I do know that he ended his days in Charlotte, NC and was in his late 50s or early 60s, married to my great-grandmother and they had three very young children at that time. There's a huge gap in his life that intrigues me--he was a Captain in the Confederacy in the Civil War and then, I have no info on him from 1864 until 1880. Wonder if there's any chance this is the same man?

Thanks for your reply. I was more interested in the Albert part of your ancestors name. If my Julius Hermann Roesslers father was a Prussian Cavalry General he probably would have had a Von in front of the surname. Also if his Christian names were Carl Albert, it is a German custom to use the second name not the first. Hence my interest in your Roessler (Albert Von).

If down the track you find anything to confirm a possible link between these families please E mail me.

I am doing research in Germany at the moment, so if I find anything that I think would be helpful to you I will let you know.

Don't know if this helps you, but my Gr Gr Gandfather was Julius Herman Rosler (Roessler) born 1825 in Minden, Westphalia, Prussia. His father was a Cavalry General in the Prussian Army.

I know your connection is a couple of generations on from this, but if you find a connection to Prussia I would appreciate contact. Also, just a note;- as his father was in the cavalry I'm sure the family moved around a bit...

Ferdinand was a descendent of the Baron Ferdinand von Roessler who came came to America from the Hession area of Germany and dropped the 'von'. I can tell you that my grandfather, Ferdinand
had 2 brothers Oliver and Clinton. Their father
came into Ellis Island as von Roessler with several brothers
and possibly 2 daughters. But this is uncertain.
I have a Coat of Arms for the Roesslers because of
the immigrant being a baron from Germany.

I don't know of any Elizabeths in my line. But I did find out that Ferdinand Jr. was born in YOungstown, Ohio and married Georgiana Powers In St. Louis, MO
The only other daughter that I have been able to find a name to is Katrinka. No information about her has been found yet. It is just a name written on a scrap of paper from my mother.

Am also looking for relatives of this family. George Samuel Roessler was married to Nellie R. Gross. He was the son of George (b.June 1857) and Louisa C. (Lulu) Bender (b.Jan 1855). They married in 1887. She was the daughter of John Bender (b.Feb 1832) and Annie (b. 1837). They married in 1855 and immigrated from Germany in 1865. George's parents were George Roessler and Charlotte Brice. George was born in Germany in 1818 and was a cooper by trade.He died at around 45 yrs. of age by drowning in the Allegheny River at Kittanning. Charlotte Brice (Price) was born in 1819 in Nurenburg, Bavaria and died in Pittsburgh 13 Feb 1895 at the age of 76. According to the family history my Great Grandfather wrote, "she was highly educated , spoke high German and excellent English". Her father had been a judge. The couple left Germany due to "political expression" and made a 6 week ocean crossing with their 2 childre, Christopher and Matilda, that were born in Nurenburg (records show arrived in 1848). They settled in Red Bank, on the allegheny river and then later in Kittanning. George was jailor there and lived next door to the court house. The children of George and charlotte are: Christopher, Matilda, George, Edward, Elizabeth, Sarah Pauline and John. Sarah Pauline married William Henry Harrison Morten and was my Great-Great Grandmother. She was a talented artist in both oil and sculpture (we have a few pieces). Her sister, Elizabeth's children were very musically talented. The family was German Lutheran.

My grandfather's name was John Robert Roessler born near Waterloo, WI. His father's name was Thomas Roessler, from Germany,Austria, or Bohemia. I can't get back further than that. John R. was the oldest of 4, Lewis was his brother ,went to minnesota. One sister died at 12, and I think the other sister was adopted by a very old couple. My grandfather moved to California in 1901 and married Adelaide Schroeder, born 1883 in San Francisco, daughter of Clark Schroeder and Katherine Piltz .They had 4 children, Loal , John M., Vernon, and my father, Clark Thomas, all born between 1902 and 1919.
