Will is related to me as 5th cousin. Also in this family was W.C. Rogers who was principal chief of Cherokee Nation at turn of the century. The last *appointed* Cherokee Chief in Oklahoma, he died in 1917. W.C.'s brother was Charles Huck. Rogers who was my g grandfather. Huck married Mary Brady. W.C. and Huck lived near Sperry and Skiatook in Oklahoma, this is just north of Tulsa. They received land grants in this area but sold it rather than keep it. I cannot remember exactly who the relationship goes with the famous Will Rogers who was from Oolagah (also just north of Tulsa). I do know that Will and Huck's name, Rogers, came from the same ancester. My sister traced this Rogers all the way back to ROBERT ROGERS, a scout for the British in the French/Indian war, also of ROGERS RANGERS. Robert married Sally Vann, a Cherokee.
