Hello, Most early records for Taunton MA were destroyed in a fire. One can find records possibly in surrounding towns. People from this area moved towards Springfield and western MA or to southern Vermont.

There is a Joanna Rogers born about 1731, a daughter of Thomas Rogers and Joanna Crossman.

I have the Rogers line from Thomas and Joanna to the current day.

The daughter Joanna married Elisha Morse 12/31/1750, intention filed 11/9/1750 in Stoughton, MA

My grandmother was married to Alma Denton Rogers. Her name is Wilhelmina Agusta Johanna Wegener. She was born in 1836 in Germany. She died in Ogden, Weber, Utah in 1939. She died when I was quite little, but I do remember her. I don't know much about Alma Denton Rogers, and would like to know more. I talked to one gentleman in about 1974 while I was in Ogden. He wasn't interested in talking with me. I have some photos of Wilhelmina, one is on her 1ooth birthday.

I think we may be researching the same line but I don't have anything beyond Elisha and Hannah and I'm hoping you do. My Elisha was born about 1789 in Connecticut and died (date unknown) in DeKalb county, Indiana.

Hannah(maiden name unknown) was born about 1792 in Massachusetts and died 1860-1861, also in DeKelb County. I am descended from their daughter Arvilla born in 1818.

Not sure, sorry, but I know that Orrin has a son Joel in Norfolk, Ontario, Canada. I'm actually trying to trace Orrin, not Hiram. I was inquiring if Hiram b. 1806, living in Missisquoi, Ontario in 1851 via the Census of Upper Canada is a brother to Orrin b. 1804, Broome County (which was actually Tioga County in 1804). Hiram has a son Oran G. Rogers b. 1844 that I was confusing with another Oran D. Rogers b. 1837 who may or may not be related to this family. Orrin b. 1804 and sister Phila moved to Norfolk, Townsend, Ontario in 1823. I'd really like to know what the source is that Gateline found for placing these Orrin, Phila, siblings, et al. with Noah and Sarah as there were several couples in Broome County at the time who could have been Orrin and Phila's parents. I've been tearing apart census and church records at the Broome County Library but I can't place Orrin and Phila in the same home with Noah and Sarah. If I find the souce, I'll post it.

Seeking info on this couple- they married 11 Sept 1860 Cherokee Co, TX. I found them in 1880 Burnet Co, TX. Cannot tell truly if Nancy was age 38 or 58(looks more like 38 but the writer's "5's" & "3s" are not consistent) Both born in MS. I am working on the LINDSEYS. Can anyone identify Nancy's parents?? Could she poss be the widow of Morris (Maurice) Linsey (1850 Walker Co, TX)? We know him as Morris Lindsey B. 1790. Any info to help, even if to rule out this Nancy Lindsey Rogers would be EXTREMELY helpful.

Paula in MS
paulacarterdavis@yahoo.com

As Mike & I are cousins - I just wanted to add this little extra bit about the William McCoy Rogers that died in Callaway County, MO:
He had a first wife and had two children by her: William and Margaret. We dont know what might have happened to her.He then married Eliza Jane Harris who was a native of Tennessee. Eliza Jane and William McCoy had a son named Thomas Jefferson Rogers (my GGGrandfather).
We also have reason to believe that William McCoy Rogers fathers name is Michael Rogers. Any help with this is greatly appreciated!
Todd

I need to do it to but can't spare the cash yet.
I know without the test what the results would be, but I would like to test the DNA of William Rogers b:1945. I can get court orders to open the graves since I took possesion of the Roger's graves thst a developer moved in 1997 as next of kin. They are now at Graham Memorial cemetary in Alamance Co., North Carolina. The graves are not marked and no one else knows who they are.

ray

Hello Everyone:

In the tree below is Elenor McCoy Rogers b:1767, she is the sister to Jane McNeely (Alias wife of James McCoy b:abt 1740 (captured by British at Ft Washington), she then married Samuel Patton b:1755 who then died four years later and she then married William Andrew Rogers b:1777 who lived out the rest of his life with her and they are buried at Haw fields Cemetary Orange Co., North Carolina). They had no children by the Rogers Marriage.

All the William McCoy Rogers's are in James Rogers b:1764 family and of that family James A. Rogers b:1797 went to Tennessee (Brownsville) he is the one with a brother William McCoy Rogers b:1801(stayed in Graham, Alamance Co., North Carolina) and a son William McCoy Rogers b:1826 who we have no record as to what happened to him. William McCoy Rogers b:1801 also had a son William McCoy Rogers b:1855 and we do not know what happened to him. Sounds complicated doesn't it. I hope this clears up any confusion.

Ray

1 William *Rogers	b: Abt. 1745
.	+Elleander Neeley b: Abt. 1745
..	2 James Rogers	b: 1764
...... *+Elenor McCoy	b: 1767
..	2 Mary Polly Rogers b: Abt.1767
...... +Cason Capps	b: Abt.1767
..	2 Jane (Jennie) Rogers b: 1770
...... +Moses Holmes	b: Abt.1770
..	2 John *Rogers	b: Abt.1773
...... +Elizabeth Loy	b: 1783
..	2 Nancy Rogers b:04 Mar 1773/74
...... +James William Daniel b: Abt. 1770
.. *2nd Husband of Nancy Rogers:
...... +James Murray b: 1804
..	2 Elenor Rogers b: Abt. 1775
...... +Luke Pryor b: 1770
..	2 Anne Barbara Rogers b: 11 May 1776
...... +John Sharp b: Abt. 1776
..	2 Margaret Peggy Rogers b:Abt. 1779
...... +Robert Hunter b: 1778
..	2 Robert Rogers b: Abt. 1780
...... +Elizabeth Moore b: 1782
..	2 *William Andrew Rogers b: 14 Dec 1777
...... +Jane McNeely McCoy Patton b:Unknown
Hello everyone:

I am sorry I could not help, but I get the feeling we are related but distant. The James Rogers b:1764 I spoke of, father of William McCoy Rogers b:1801, was the son of William b:1745 and Eleander (Neeley)b:1745 Rogers. They came from Virginia also. It isn't proven yet but I believe that William b:1745 was the son of Samuel Daniel Rogers b:1706 and I believe that your Micheal is also a possible son. That will be proven in Virginia if there are records. Samuel is said to have Died in King and Queen Co., Virginia.

By the way there is a (blank) Neal Rogers in William McCoy Rogers's b:1801 family but she is still living and I can't use her name here.

I am descended from William Rogers b:1745 and his son John b:1773.

William McCoy Rogers b:1801 was well liked during his life and many relatives used his name for their children. The McCoy in his name came from his mother who was the daughter of James McCoy who was paymaster of continental forces during the American Revolution Mecklenburg, North Carolina and captured by British forces, later killed by Indians.

I guess what I am saying is we still have a lot of work to do.

Ray

I dont think we have the same William McCoy Rogers but they could alll be related. My William McCoy was supposed to be born in Greenbrair Va 1820 and he died Feb 06,1904 in Mokane ,Callaway County Mo..This is what was in the Hearld Post Mokane paper. Uncle billie rogers one of the picturesque figures of south Callaway County died at his home north-west of town saturday afternoon Feburary 6 of pneumonia.Mr Rogers was born in Monroe County Va in 1921 and he moved to Mo.in 1844 and settled in Daviess County but moved to Callaway .A wife and son survive him Thomas rogers and his mother .This conflicts with some of my other information. Thanks Ray for trying to help and all others. mike

My ggggrandmother was Ann E. Rogers who married George Russ Andrews in Lowndes Co. 31 Jan. 1836. The most logical father was one John Rogers who owned land in Lowndes, Butler, and Crenshaw Cos. She died about 1845 in Wilcox Co. John Rogers was in Jackson Co. Al. earlier and he may have been a son of John Rogers of Sumter co. S. C. I say this because John of Sumter Co. lived next door to one of the Sumter Andrews boys. Could this be a connection?

I am researching Donal Erwin Rogers family. Donal was born January 25, 1922 in Heavener, OK. His father, Dolphus Rogers was born 1892 in Yell Co., AR to Edley A., born 1858, and Malinda Rogers. Malinda being his 1st (or possibly 2nd)wife.

In the 1910 Yell Co,Havana, AR census Edley's wife is Harriett. I believe Edley A's father was Edley H. Rogers, born 1814 in GA and married Mahala (no surname) in Hixon, Hamilton Co.,TN. Mahala is a widow in the 1860 Harrison Co. TN census.

I would appreciate any information you have on this line of Rogers. My son, also named Donal, but usually known only by his nickname "Hoss" is, so far as I know, the last descendant of this male line of Rogers. However, Dolphus and his wife, Berta (or Berti) Roach, had only one other child, a son named Paul, who may have male heirs.

Thanks,
Esther Rogers
My email: emarierog@gmail.com

Family Tree DNA is a good place to submit DNA.
The 12 Marker Test is 119.00 this helps but the 37 test is better.

The 37 Marker Test is 169.00 This is the best to take if you cannot afford the 67 test.

I think the price is a little less if you join the Rogers project group. Maybe if others in your family are interested in finding more on their ancestory they could pitch in some funds for the test.

The test may not give you info on exactly who your ancestor is, but will help to eliminate some Rogers fellows as your ancestor. It will also help many other researchers who have sumitted DNA to know if they are or are not conected to your Rogers line. You may find a researcher who has information on your paticular line.

Sharon
