OBITUARY
September 29, 1986 "Alva Review-Courier"
Alva, Oklahoma
Funeral services were conducted Friday at Church of God for S/Sgt. (Ret.) James Fred Roller. Rev. Carl W. Hawkins officiated the rites. Burial was in Carmen Cemetery with Wharton Funeral Chapel directing arrangements. He died on September 22, 1986 at Oklahoma City Veteran's Medical Center. He was 56. Fred was born on March 4, 1930 in Alva, the son of Helen Irene (Torrence) and James Fielding Roller. He graduated from Carmen High School with the Class of 1948. In 1952 he enlisted in the United States Army and retired in 1979 as a Staff Sergeant. He was a member of V.F.W. Alva Black Wing Post and Alva Moose Lodge, where he had worked since 1983. Preceding him in death were his father, James in 1969; and a sister, Pauline Williams in 1984. He is survived by his mother, Helen, of the home; sister, Mary Lou Ring of Tulsa; half brothers, James Fielding Roller of Muskogee and Sheridan Lee Roller of Torrance, California; and several nieces and nephews. Memorial contributions may be made to Cancer Fund.
