My dad John Nickum wanted to speak with you as well. Please email me with your phone number again so I can give it to my father. I look forward to hearing from you.
William Romer/Wilhelm Steinberg

Hi. My great grandfather's name was Wilhelm Steinberg but he changed it to William Romer when he came to the US from Germany or Hungary. My grandfather, Walter Romer, was his only child with his wife, Sophie/Sophia Romer. William then married another woman after Sophie/sophia's death. He resided in Bayonne, New Jersey at the time of my grandfather's birth. William was also known to box under the name of Little Yellow/Lil Yello. I was trying to see if I could get any additional information regarding him or at least my father's side of the family. My aunts/uncles/family have not been very forthcoming with any information that they have - the aforementioned is about it. If any one could help or knows how I can go about getting additional information/help, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks. Cathy

Hemmelgarn family

Dear Carolyn,

My name is Laura Loraine Hemmelgarn-Landess-Pranger (born 9-5-63). My father is Glen Martin Hemmelgarn, my grandparents were Glen Henry Hemmelgarn and Thelma Huth, and my great grandparents are Martin Henry Hemmelgarn/Ida Huff and Joseph Huth/Mary Agnes Cunrad.

Recently our son and his wife had a baby that was born with non-ketotic hyperglycinemia. This is a very rare disease that usually only occurs when families inter-marry. My husband (James Edward Pranger) and I have been married for 25 years and never dreamed that we were related, but yesterday I found that we were 4th cousins through the Huth line. I also see that both of our families have the name Cunrod (Coonrod, Conrod, Coonrad, Cunrad). You did not mention your parents name in the post on the roots web message board. Are you also a descendent of Glen Henry Hemmelgarn and Thelma Huth? If so, I am trying to find any information on the lineage of Mary Agnus Conrad. I can only find information that she was born around 1875-1878 and that she was married to Joseph Huth (b. 17 Dec 1872). Any information that you might have would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for the help that you have already been on the website.

Laura Pranger
jimpranger@juno.com

My greatgrandmother came from Alsace-Lorraine in the 1880's.Her first name was Anna. I know that she had one sister that was blind and in an institution. She had two brothers that were priests and worked on the famous clock in Strausberg that depicts Jesus and the twelve apostles.
Here is my problem. We know that by 1888 when she married my greatgrandfather George Bodenmiller she had a son named Frank. He was born in Union City Tenn. We do not know if Anna was pregnant when she came from Alsace, married before Frank was born or got pregnant after she arrived and never married Frank's father.
We do know that on her marriage licence her name is listed as Anna Roehmer. However, Kaiser is also remembered. Was her surname Kaiser or Roehmer? I need HELP!
It seems to me the only solution is to research both families in Alsace-Lorraine but I do not speak French and do not know how. Can anyone help?? Belinda

Just for clarification... The correct spelling of this town is Nieder-Olm (rather that Neider-Olm, the i comes before the e) and pronounced Needer-Ohlm in English. The other town is Stadecken-Elsheim and they are both in the Mainz / Bingen area of Rheinland-Pfalz along the Rhein River. This is a beautiful area of the country with wineries and castles adn absolutely gorgeous scenery.

This is wonderful info. My husband's mother was a Roman and from the same line you are from. All we have is my husband's mama:
Harry Albertina Romer b 21 July 1912 Fernadina, Fl
d 11 Aug 1997 Holly Hill, Florida. Her dad was
George Raymond Romer b 1878 abt d 1957 abt m Margaret (Maggie) Heilig b ? d 1937
G R Romer's dad was
Reuben S Romer b 30 July 1832 d Nassau, Fl
he married
Mary E Brown b 25 Dec 1849 d?
Reuben's dad was
James Carter Romer b 22 July 1821 Maine d 12 Oct 1902 Maine
he married
Ann B
James Carter's dad was
Willima Romer b 25 Dec 1800 d 1882
he married
Charlotte Carter b 27 July 1797 Maine d 5 Mar 1878 Maine

Thanks for the info on the children. If you have any others please let us know. I have our family site on ancestry.com but also am a member of roots.web but have not posted the families on rootsweb yet. Boy I didn't realize what I got myself into, but it's a Lord's blessing. My family is Farris and Wood but I'm trying to do my husband's too which is Romer and Holloway. I've hit a brick wall with his. No one remembers much about both sides of the family which is sad but true. HE was raised in Miami. His dad Louie Lacey Romer b abt 1900 d abt 1948 and mom Harry Albertina Romer lived there most of their lives.
Please let us know if you can help. Email us anytime at deliaholloway@yahoo.com
God bless you in your search. It looks like you may be kin folks.
Delia and George

RÖMER RAMER ROEMER RAYMER Family DNA Project

As a RAMER/RÖMER/RAYMER family researcher for nearly 40 years, I have been very aware of the five major lines carrying these names (or who adopted them later) that were in PA prior to 1750, as well as significant lines in N.C. and KY that are thought to be somehow connected to these lines. To my knowledge no one has yet been able to demonstrate any relationship between any of these lines.

Further, as a researcher focused on the line of Philip RÖMER who immigrated on the ship Friendship of Bristol on 16 Oct 1727, I am unaware of anyone who has convincingly tied any of those lines back to their European sources.
We are anticipating such an effort in Europe starting this year.

Therefore, I am excited to report that we have initiated a DNA study with the intent of determining relationships, if any, between the 7 domestic lines mentioned as well as between any of them and lines in Switzerland and Germany.

We need at least one male direct descendant of each of these lines to partipate. A second participant would be fairly valuable as well.

Additional participants, whether with a proven relationship to any of these lines, or of a line not yet known to be related to any of the above are also welcomed.

Please contact me directly at: JohnRamer@sbcglobal.net for more details.

An immense amount of information could be generated if we all work together.
