I wanted to let you know that my Great Grand Mothers maiden name was Mariana Romo who had a sister named Artemisa & a brother named Manuel. They lived in the Globe, Arizona area. My Great Grandmother married my Great Grandfather Manuel Morales who was a Papago Native American, which is not called Tohono O'odam which is from Tucson, Sells, Arizona area. I hope this information is helpful to you.

Oh my God, what a surprise!! I have looked for you both as well, many times over the years! What is really strange is that I'm in the midst of moving, last week my daughter and I were looking over my pictures from high school and I was knee-deep in nostalgia.

I am searching for the family of a soldier who was killed in the Korea War. His remains were never recovered. Our government has no family contact at this time for this soldier

Soldier: ANGEL PETER ROMO
Born: 1930
Date of loss: July 11, 1950 POW
Home of Record: Los Angeles, Calif. (Whittier, Calif,)

When the Korean War ended the enemy never returned or accounted for over 8,000 of our servicemen. They died in their hands. That was over 50 years ago. Since that time DNA has been perfected and also they are recovering remains in North Korea. Our government is obligated to return those remains to the proper family. DNA samples have been obtained from most of the families of these missing soldiers. For various reasons some families have not been located.

When the remains are recovered and identified they will be returned to the family for proper burial. I am just an old (79years) Combat Veteran out of the Korean War and thankful that I did return. I consider this a very noble cause and I hope that you can help in some way to find this family. For more information on the project you may go to http://www.jpac.pacom.mil/. My part in the program is to match up the lost families with the proper agency.

I will be grateful for any assistance in locating this family.

I know this is a long shot, but here goes. I'm looking for a picture of my great great grandmother, Maria Silvestra Romo. I'm told there are pictures out there, but I haven't located any.

She was born just after the new year 1856 in Rancho Nuevo, now La Madrid, Coahuila, Mexico.

She immigrated to the United States with her husband Mateo Ramirez around 1875, and had her first and I believe only child, my great grandfather, VictorianoRamirez Romo in Brownsville, Cameron County, Texas in 1876.

I do have pictures of Victoriano, but have not been able to pin down his birth record. I'm told Texas didn't record births until 1903, but I know many birth records predate this date.

But a picture of Maria Silvestra Romo would be my first goal.

I tried Homeland Security, but they didn't have anything on either Maria Silvestra Romo, nor her husband Mateo Ramirez. In those days I don't think you needed formal documents to cross the border.

I even tried the coroner here in Los Angeles where she was killed when she was run over by a low rider while doing her daily 14 stations of the cross, each one at a different church. Yes, she was deeply religious, so I'm told.

And very short and petite, as was her son Victoriano. Although I never met either one, they died before I was born.

You are definitley a cousin; all the names you mentioned are a match. I am the son of Rudy (died 1966) who was Pete's eldest son. I have a brother Rudy and three sisters, Mariane, Margaret, and Cathy who are also Romo's. We live in Phoenix. I don't know that side of the family well but have met most of the ones you listed at least once (I knew Jerry and Sylvia well as a kid). My brother has kept in touch more than I. Sorry, but I could not find any Pedro Romo on my Romo Family Tree.
It's possible, though, that I might have some cousins in the Phoenix area. My grandfather, Alexandro Romo, was born in La Concepcion, New Mexico. After living in the Phoenix area for some years, it's possible he started another family after my grandmother divorced him in California.

My uncle Frank was married to Pearl Westlake(madian)for many yrs, now my aunt Pearl had many brothers and sisters also of Darmouth and Halifax Nova Scotia.

She was born on 1835 in Mexico D.F., Mexico. Her mother was Ramona Zepeda. Married Francisco de Arce Otalora in 1871 and had three kids with him. 1. – Eva de Arce Romo (b.1872) 2. – Francisco de Arce Romo (b.1874) 3. – Manuela de Arce Romo (b.1876). She died on 1902 in Chihuahua, Chihuahua, Mexico.

My grandfather Jesus Jaime was raised by Jesus and Josefa Romo, We beleive they were is Aunt and Uncle. My Grandfather was born in Lampazos de Naranjo Nuevo Leon Mexico, He came to the Us in 1889 with The Romo family. They lived in San Antonio Texas.
