his children, Sarah (m. Sutherland), Anson (born 1827 Jericho, VT), Galen, and Robert. Anson had children named Charles,
Ella(m. McDonald), Jessie (m. Watson), Edwin, Albert, Cora and William.
Albert had children named Elmer, Clarence, Clifford, Leslie Leroy, Arthur, Adelaide
and Grace. Anson went from Vermont to Wisconsin (where he married Clarissa

I am looking for any information relating to Elijah Rood born in Pa in 1825. He than moved to Gallia Co. Ohio and married Anna Brown born 1826 in WV (father is John Brown.
He had 8 children with Anna. In 1871 Anna died and he than marrried Elmira Canterbary (born in 1856)on April 1, 1876 and had 6 childen with her. He many offspring as you can see so you think that tracing his history would be easy. His decendents have been easy to locate, it is his parents,siblings,aunts, uncles etc..... that I am at a lost for and have been searching for months. If any body has ANY thing linking to any of this, I would be very greatful.

I stumbled across this message board and saw my aunt Carol Ludwig/Rood's name and a gentleman by the name of John Rood-Campbell had some news about my g grandfather. His name was Rollind Lawrence Rood. I have all the info that John left but am now wondering about Rollind's wife. Her name was Delphine Angeline Lehr. I have her d.o.b and d.o.d. but I can't find anyone who knows where she was from. I am amazed at the # of peolple who were asking about Rollind ( papaw ) when I went to the Lehr message board there aren't any messages about Delphine ( bamaw ).

check to see if the author cites the source of the following record for Mary Rood, daughter of Thomas Jr, that appears on page 7?

"Mary ROOD was born on 7 May 1699 in Preston, New London, CT. (36) Parents: Thomas ROOD Jr. and Mary? UNKNOWN"

I have come across a 1718 land record from Middlesex Co Mass that refers to a Mary Rood in Preston CT. Knowing the source cited for the above record may help me establish whether the two Marys are the same person and prove a long sought after family connection.

Even & Maty moved from WI to ND around 1908 and moved to Valley City in 1913. Even joined others and started a Creamery in Valley City. He died after 1904. In aug 1904 he picked up his nephew, my great grandfather in Christiania (Oslo) Norway and they travelled to New Glarus via Southampton, England. They arrived at Eliis Island 13. aug. 1904.
# Barbro & Ole had 5 children: Helmer b. 16 oct. 1894, Olga b. 22 feb. 1898, Oscar b. 20 may 1902, Donald b. 10 july 1905 and Dorothe b. 23 nov. 1910. All children born in Lake Mills, Iowa. They settled in SD.
This branch of the family is quite updated because of contact and 2 family reunions in the US which I attended.

Hello. I am looking for information, and particularly pictures, of the Rude family, who lived in San Francisco from the turn of the century on. The heads of the family were Arron or Aaron M. Rude and Jennie (Vantasman) Rude, and their children included Philip, Joseph, Augusta, Jack, Miriam, Monroe, and Morton. Aaron was originally from Austria, and Jennie was originally from either Romania or Russia, and one of their children was born in Amsterdam and one in London before they came to San Francisco. Aaron was owner of the A.M. Rude Woolen Company in San Francisco's Union Square from the 1900s to the 1920s, and several of their sons were salesmen there. In the 1920s, Jack was a student at Stanford, and by the 1930s, Augusta, then Augusta Rude Dawson, was married and had a business as a dentist, while Arron was a manager at the Hotel Beresford in San Francisco. I would be most grateful for any more information on them.

I am wondering if anyone is researching Henderson Rood (often sp. RADE, RHODE, ROODE, etc) from Athens and Lawrence Cos. Ohio? I believe he is the son of Elijah Rood Jr./Sarah Sutliff, and grandson of Elijah Rood Sr/Martha Stephens. All originally from Conn., Penn, New York then into Ohio by 1820. I have most of the information for Elijah Rood Sr., but am trying to piece together his son Elijah Jr's, children. Allied families from Athens: Aaron Fall/Fell. Lawrence Co. families: Randolph, Tribbet.
Henderson Rood's children: Henderson Jr., Ira George, Daniel , and Marinda. I am sure there were 3 earlier children as well.

My ggrandmother's sister Ophelia Jane Knowlton left Michigan in 1885 with Emerson J Rood, headed for California. She married Emerson J Rood, 25th March 1885 in Souix Falls, South Dakota. They sent a wedding photo home to Michigan.

They were last heard of in Mecca, California. They had written to family in Michigan about a crop failure on their cotton ranch. probably sometime between 1914 and 1920.

Ophelia known as Jane.was born Jan 1855 in Wisconsin.
Emerson Rood born 1840 in Michigan may have taken his two children from a previous marriage Fred and Dolly with them.

Does anyone know the source of the information that Margrit's last name was Rowe and that she was from Stonington? Also, several researchers have listed her as dying around 1716/17 which seems erroneous to me because the mother of Azariah in 1724 is listed as Margrit in the Barbour Collection. What is the source of the death information?

We still celebrate a Rood Family Reunion, however it is not like it used to be, and that was held at Packard Park in August till about 20 years ago. Eunice Rood was born 1750, and died Aft. 1796. She married Hezekiah Tracy on December 25, 1768, son of Joseph Tracy and Mary Fuller.

He married his second wife, Sarah White on Aft. 1798, daughter of Ruluoff White and Maritjen Morache Knickerbocker.

I BELIEVE that a Vernon D. ROOD (b. Apr 1842, VT) marr abt 1869 a Sarah C. HOUSEL (b. Sept 1841, Hunterdon Co., NJ). Moved first to Cass Co., IA (1880 Census) and then to San Diego CA (1900 & 1910 Census). Vernon apparently died between 1900 census and 1906 (Sarah applied for Civil War Widow's Pension. Sarah present in 1910 census (San Diego), but not in 1920.

Apparently had children: Roscoe (b. Abt. 1874, IA); Grace (b. Abt. 1874, IA); Edson (Abt 1877, IA); and, Vernon (b. Abt 1879, IA).

Seeking anyone that can verify or debunk my belief that Sarah C. ROOD was (nee HOUSEL).

Also seeking all available information regarding all persons mentioned above.

Gladys Mae Eldred, 68, of Norwich, NY, died Thursday, April 13, 2006, at Valley View Manor Nursing Home, Norwich.
She was born on April 26, 1937, in the Town of Russia, the daughter of Robert George and Florence Irene (Mykel) Rood Sr.

On May 27, 1967, Gladys married Raymond Y. Eldred in Morris. Mr. Eldred predeceased her on Aug. 1, 1984.

A lifelong area resident, Gladys had worked with her husband, Ray, on the family farm. She enjoyed country music, knitting and crocheting, tending to her plants and garden, but most of all spending time with her family.

Gladys is survived by her daughter, Christine Eldred and Gary Heller of Morris; her mother, Florence Irene Rood of Hartwick; four sisters, Ruth Turnbull of Edmeston, Patricia and Frederick DeForest of West Edmeston, Dorothy and Roy Robert of Oneonta and Mary and John Bush of Hartwick; a half sister, Betty and Walter Ketchum of Tully; four brothers, Lawrence and Rita Rood of Mount Vision, Arthur William Rood of Oneonta, Edward and Linda Rood of Hartwick and Mykel and Deborah Rood of West Burlington; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by her father, Robert George Rood Sr., and her brother, Robert George Rood Jr.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 18, at the Bookhout Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oneonta, with the Rev. Laverne Saxer officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 17.

Funeral arrangements are by the Bookhout Funeral Home of Oneonta, NY.

PLATTSBURGH — Catherine G. Rood, 79, of Plattsburgh, died Saturday, June 1, 2002, at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

She was born in Plattsburgh on June 3, 1922, the daughter of Frank E. and Edith (Caron) Gagne.

She graduated from D’youville Academy and was a member of Our Lady of Victory Church. She was a member of the Our Lady of Victory Altar-Rosary Society. She was a beautician for many years and was an accountant and later co-owner of Fleming’s Furniture in Plattsburgh for many years. She was also an avid bingo player.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Ruth Anne Rood of Montpelier, Vt., and James and Linda Rood of Plattsburgh; a daughter and son-in-law, Roseanne and Donald Defayette of Plattsburgh; a sister and brother-in-law, Margaret and Theodore LaPier of Plattsburgh; three grandchildren, Janine Wyman of Greenville, S.C., Jeffrey Rood of Fort Drum, N.Y., Jon Rood of Montpelier, Vt., and several nieces and nephews.

Her husband, Edward A. Rood, whom she married Oct. 4, 1941, died on Sept. 16, 1998. Three brothers, Herman, Frank and Robert Gainer, and three sisters, Claire Backus, Yvonne Rock and Rosemary Dupuis, also died earlier.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the O’Neill-Redden-Drown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. A vigil service will be held at 3 p.m. at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday from Our Lady of Victory Church in Plattsburgh. Interment will follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery. Arthur ROOD, , born ca 1886, Iowa, and wife, Alice M. (JENNINGS?), b. ca 1885, of Ohio, had a son, Arthur Bryan, born ca 1918, in OH. Found them in 1920 Census, Cuyahoga Co, Cleveland Hghts, OH. Arthru Bryan had a brother, Albert Clarence, born ca 1919. Arthur B. came to Pensacola, FL, in 1940's, and Albert C, came to Pensacola, as well. Their descendants were in P'cola and in S.C. (I may become a new in-law member of their family within next year!) ;=)}

However, having difficulty finding their progenitor, who may have been in Iowa or Wisconsin. Also found a likely contender for Arthur (b. 1886), in Douglas Co, NE, in 1900, with siblings---Elmer, Clarence, Leroy, Ada. Clifton, Gracie? Can anyone affirm that? Or, am I on the wrong track??

Beulah Rowley, great grandfather - Charles L Rood (1844 or 1846 in Ohio - d. 1909 i MI) m Cynthia McGahan, gggrandfather- Landon Rood (1812 0r 1813 in CT) I have read every listing on the Rood board and find no mention of a Landon Rood. In my researach I find two possiblities. One Landon Rood married Lucy Grosvenor Clark (1815-1901) and another listing for Landon Rood is married to Delia Fitch (1817-1845). Does anyone have a Landon Rood in their research. I would appreciate any information that is available. Is he listed in the Rood Family book by Mona Rood? Thanks for any help.

database only shows Herman Rood married to Jennie
Irene Victoria Lees, daughter of Abraham and Caroline
Lees. I show Herman and Jennie as having only one
child, Henry Lees Rood, born in 1901. So I guess this
could possibly be his sister.

2. Clara and Paul Rood. See above.

3. Rood children. It shows what appears to be a
mother with four daughters...or perhaps five
sisters...maybe.

4. Mabel Rood. This appears to be the same young lady

Roode was born in Fayette Co, OH 8/14/1852. Then it looks like they moved to Miami Co., IN. by 4/18/1857 when 2nd child, John E. Roode was born. Can anyone match these up? Solmon and Mary had 4 sons, Jesse, Robert, Sydney and Hubert Henry - I know that Solomon and the first 3 sons left and went to Australia late 1800s. Mary and I beleive Hubert Henry were left behind. At that point they were living in Wales.

Lydia Rood married Jonathan Strong Aug. 17, 1799 at Salisbury, VT. Dau. of a Mr. Rood of Norfolk, CT. Jonathan was an iron worker at Salisbury, CT where he spent his life except the last two year in Ohio, he died at Johnson 1842.
Lydia died at SAlisbury, CT. Nov. 26, 1860.

Children:Edwin J., Frederic Ross, Myron Castle, Henrietta Maria, William Henry, Ervin Willard, Herman Lewis, and Theodore DePierre.

His death certificate says he was born Aug. 14, 1902 near Cleveland, OH. He had a son, nicknamed Buster, from a previous marriage. If he was really a ROOD, he might have married Mary J. I met my father when I was 18. His name was Raymond Guy Murray. His parents were Raymond C Murray and Dorothy Rood. I am searching for both sides of the family that go back from here. I know that Dorothy's mother was named Rose but Rood is her married name. Alva John Rood, died March 7, 2005 at the Scottsdale Village Square, AZ. He was born December 18, 1916 in Flasher, North Dakota.

At an early age John moved to Kentucky where he lived with his grandparents until as a teen the family moved to Oklahoma. John finished elementary and high school in Oklahoma. John attended Southeast Oklahoma State Jr. College. While attending Oklahoma State Junior College, John met his life long sweetheart, Elizabeth 'Betty' Miller. John and Betty were married on May 6, 1939.

For the next few years John taught school in Antlers Oklahoma before joining the US Army from 1943-46, serving most of the war in Germany. After returning from the war John and Betty moved to Phoenix, AZ in 1946.

For many years John worked for J.D. Halstead Lumber Company. During this time John worked days and attended Arizona State College at night, always dreaming of returning to the classroom as a teacher. That dream was relized in 1965 where he and his wife move to the Hopi Reservation in North Central Arizona where he taught Math, Science and Shop. During this time John continued working toward his Degree in Education attending Northern Arizona University until he completed his Degree in Education. John continued teaching on the Hopi until he retired in 1982.

John and Betty returned to Phoenix in 1982 where they lived until Betty suffered ill health and they moved to Scottsdale in 1997. His beloved wife and companion preceded John in death on December 9, 1998. John continued to live in Scottsdale.

Interment at The National Memorial Cemetery in Phoenix. Arrangements handled by Messinger Indian School Mortuary.

ROOD--Mrs. Alice N., aged 75, wife of N. E. Rood, of near Sparta, died Monday at the Masonic home in Springfield. She is survived also by two daughters, Mrs. Forest Norberg and Mrs. Tinsel Elliott; a sister, Mrs. Ida Hicks, and two brothers John and Budd Melick. The body will lie in state at the Sparta M. M. church form 2 p. m. Thursday to the time of the funeral, which will be held at that church at 3 p. m. with Rev. E. C. Corwin of Mt. Gilead officiating. Burial will be in Bloomfield cemetery. The body is at the Melick & Crouse Funeral home in Johnstown.

Am searching for any info on my 96-y-o grandmother's paternal grandfather, Zera T. Rood.He was born @ 1825-27 in Wethersfield Township,Wyoming county,New York. Married Rosa Elizabeth or Rosetta Brown. There was a company, Rood Brown listed in Buffalo,NY in 1890.@time,15 Roods are residing there. Zera @ wife moved to Detroit where son Franklin Wadsworth Rood was born. Later removed to Grand Rapids,MI.Was back in Wyoming Co.NY in 1864, possibly to bury wife's body. Enlisted as Private in Union Army 9-19-1864 in Java, NY.Mustered into 15th NY Engineers, Company L in Lockport,NY. Served under Col. Wesley Brainerd.Mustered out 6-13-1865 @ "Fort Bamj.?,Virginia.Returned to Michigan, listed as landowner in Cannonsburg,Cannon Township, north of GrandRapids. Remarried to R.Belle(maiden name unknown).2 daughters,Clara,and Nellie.(Nellie married a Dr. King, lived in Traverse City area with son Donald).Died MI Old Soldiers Homr in GR.Initially buried there,later moved to Oak Hill Cemetary,Grand Rapids @ request of daughter.Buried there with no death date, nor dates for 2nd wife.Son Franklin died 1906, so his daughtr Clara(b1904) has no data on family. I would very much like to contact any descendants of Cyrus ROOD, born 1792 either in Vermont or Salem, New York, the son of David and Sarah (Rogers) Rood. Cyrus ROOD married Susan PETTINGELL and they had at least 5 children, mentioned below. Cyrus & Susan ROOD followed his parents to then Genesee County, NY in about 1820; however, Cyrus and his brother David ROOD, Jr. moved to Cattaraugus County, NY about 1821. David Jr. remained a farmer there the rest of his days, living near Farmersville. Cyrus returned to Orangeville township in then Genesee County, NY (now Wyoming) where he and family lived until about 1843 when they moved to Van Buren County, Iowa. About 1855 they moved to Webster County, Iowa, near Ft.Dodge. In the 1870's Cyrus and Susan moved to Polk County, Iowa and lived with their daughter Adaline Rood KNIGHT until their deaths. Cyrus died in 1882 and Susan in 1898. CHILDREN: (1) Adaline ROOD born 1826 and married Volney KNIGHT; (2)Isaac P. ROOD, born 1827 and married Isabelle. (Isaac and Isabelle left Webster Co, IA in early 1870s, were in Kansas before moving to Yamhill County, Oregon); (3) Maryette ROOD born c. 1830 nfi; (4) Calista ROOD, born c. 1833 and married Benjamin GRANGER (they lived in Webster County, IA until fall 1870 when they moved to Jefferson twp, Polk Co, IA). (5) James ROOD, born c. 1838. James married Elizabeth GREENSIDES, in 1860, in Webster County, Iowa. James was killed in the Civil War in 1864 in LA. What happened to Elizabeth? Cyrus ROOD was the uncle of David P. Rood. David P. and his wife, Elizabeth BODDY ROOD also went to Iowa...Have more information....

I am looking for birth,marriage and death information regarding my 4th g. grandparents of Ware,Mass. Olive Rood married Charles Bonney (erroneously spelled Bonny) about 1793 in Ware,Hampshire,Mass. I have record of their marriage intention posted on the Ware webpage as being 8 April 1793. I am not sure of the marriage date. I believe they had at least two daughters named Olive b. abt Jul 1798 and Bersheba or Bathsheba b. about Oct 1796. Any information would be appreciated.

HI, My name is Ann Hoven, I'm looking for any infromation on my ggreat gradfather Martin Rood his wife's name was Marie, but in the 1900 U.S. Cenus records for Grand Forks, ND her name was Margret. She was born in Wisconson, but I don't have any record of it. Martin was born in Norway. They had 6 children that I have also found on the U.S. Cenus records and on backs of family pics that only have names on them. The childrens names are: Josephine ( my great grandmother), Clarence, Bella, Obert, James, Belmer. I have found birthdates only for James and Obert and would like ife someone else may have the other childrens birth and death dates,ect. I also need birth dates for Martin and Marie and death dates. Marguerite C Crozel was born January 6, 1896 in SP, Drone, France. She died November 20, 1978 in Pendleton, Oregon.
