James Roseberry was my grgrgr grandfather. He was found in the 1850 census of Franklin County Indiana. His age was listed as 48 which calculates to a birth date of about 1802. The 1860 census of the State of Illinois shows his age as 56 which places his birth year as about 1804. His place of birth was listed as Pennsylvania. He married Mary Ward in Franklin County Indiana in 1827 and had five children with her. He married for the second time in 1844 to Martha Ann Ellsberry who died soon thereafter. His third marriage in 1845 was to Sarah Mariah Wiley (nee Hutchen), a widow with three children. Sometime after the 1850 census he moved the family to Camp Point in Adams County Illinois. When he arrived there, there were already six other Roseberry families living there. The purpose of this study is to determine where in Pennsylvania he was born, who his parents and siblings were, and what his relationship was to the Roseberry families residing in Adams County, Illinois.
