Rosenberg/Cheslock

Anyone have information on Henry Rosenberg who changed his name from Cheslock to Rosenberg when he immigrated? The Rosenbergs lived in Baltimore, Maryland...having come from either Warsaw or Russia in the late 1890's. His wife was Sarah Leah or just Sara or Leah. They had a large family, and one son, Zachery moved to Buffalo, NY, where he married a woman named Anna Fox. He went by the name of Harry Zachery to distinguish himself from another brother, Harry in Baltimore. The other siblings, were Pearl, Celia, Ray or Rachel, Philip and Samuel. there may have been a few more. Thanks for any help!

Am searching for husbands family. Father Johan Rosenberg was born in Latvia. Had brothers, Edward, Ludwig, Herbert, may have had more, and one sister. I believe some may have moved to Germany at some point during or after world war 2. Johan married Margrete Hosenberg in late 1940s in Germany. Also looking for her family. Her mothers maiden name I believe was Hayden. She had one brother George. They lived in Russia. Her father was a shoe maker. Her and her mother fled to Germany during the war. She never heard from her dad or brother after that. She also lost location of her mother.

Rosenberg geneology

I was told growing up that we had very few Rosenberg relations in the US. My paternal grandfather was Philip Rosenberg (I believe he might have been born Pincus). He was born in the Ukraine, if I recall correctly, but his whole village moved to Mexico in the teens or twenties fleeing a pogram. The US quota for Russian Jews was filled at that point I believe, so my great grandmother married an American by proxy to move to the US, leaving family behind in Mexico City.

Philip Rosenberg had three children, Judith, Joel and Jay, and lived in Chicago (Gurnee to be exact) for as long as I knew him. He was married to Janet "Shiny" Kirschenbaum until 1953, when she died, and then to my grandma Claire. He passed away in 2004.

All attempts to investigate family have stopped in Mexico, I don't know if others came from Mexico to the US later, or how closely we are related to other Rosenbergs, who seem plentiful in the US. I haven't tried very hard, but I am curious.

Jennifer Rosenberg

I am looking for relatives and/or information on an Abrahram Rosenberg who would have been born about 1885, give or take a few yrs. He lived in E. Northport, L.I., NY during 1924/1925. He was a minister at a local church there. He also had a wife who was a nurse & (at the time) 3 children. From E. Northport, he moved on to Hunter, NY for a time. From there, I have no additional information. If you think you may know who this was, I would love to hear from you & exchange information! I've been searching for over 20 yrs for more info on him!!

My ggrandfather was Simon Rosenberg, who also had a brother named Samuel (b 1835; d 20 Dec 1916). According to family lore, we were related to the Henry Rosenberg in Galveston, but we have no documentary evidence. Our Samuel immigrated to the U.S. around 1859 and was in Austin, TX by 1910. Does this information match any additional information you may now have regarding Samuel?

I've been researching this name for years and have gone back as far as 1806 to John Rosenbarger in PA. What interested me in your post is that a jewish family lived near us and were very good friends. They were from New York and their names were Albert and "Berta". This may have been the way he pronounced it. They were friends/relatives of the family next ddoor,Herman and Frances Jacobs,Dreyfuss. Her maiden name was Jacobs. They had a home in Manhatten,I believe in the winter. Could this be the one you are looking for? Patt

Looking for descendents of Nathan and Morris Rosenberg

The brothers Nathan (born ca. 1850) and Morris (born ca. 1858) Rosenberg immigrated from Romania to New York City in 1898. In the next two years, Morris was joined by his wife Mary (born ca. 1863) and their seven children:
Herman (born ca. 1882), Ida (born ca. 1884), Hyman (born ca. 1885), William (born ca. 1889), Benjamin (1891-1960), Henry (1894-1976), and Sarah (1896-???).

I'm a grandson of Henry Rosenberg, and I have nearly complete information on all the descendents of Benjamin and Sarah, and I am corresponding with several cousins in those families. None of us have information whatsover about the families of Morris's other children, or about Nathan at all.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

David Muhlfelder, 1825-1903

The Ballston Journal newspaper, Saratoga County, New York.
Saturday, March 21, 1903. Obituary.
David Muhlfelder died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. H.M. Rosenberg, on Saturday evening of disease incident to advanced age induced by grief over the death of his youngest son, just four weeks ago Tuesday. Since his son’s death he seemed to have no wish to survive him long and continually brooded over the loss of one who was not only a son but a companion of his declining years.
Mr. Muhlfelder was born at Saxe-Meinengen, Germany, January 11, 1825, having passed his 78th birthday. He had resided in this country for the past fifteen years, coming here to pass the eventide of life with his sons and daughters who had previously come to this country and greatly prospered in their adopted country.
Owing to his advanced years it was difficult for him to adopt new ways and a new tongue so that few got to know him intimately but those who did found him an agreeable companion, a gentleman well versed in the questions of the day and thoroughly educated in the history of the past. In his old home he was highly respected and a wise and ready councilor to his friends and neighbors. He was a strict disciple of his people and lived up the letter of the law at all times, yet withal he was of a kindly disposition.
He is survived by five sons and two daughters, Joseph D., of New Haven, Conn.; Herman, of Albany; Jonas of Pittsfield, Mass.; Samuel of Glens Falls; and Solomon, of Meinenger, Germany; Mrs. M. Stark and Mrs. H.M. Rosenberg of this village; and also one sister, Mrs. M. Schwarz, of this village.
The funeral was held on Tuesday morning at his late home and will be strictly private, Rev. Dr. Max Schlesinger, of Albany, officiating. Burial was made at the Albany Rural Cemetery. Friends will kindly omit flowers.
Rosenberg -Greenwald-Jablow search

Looking for relatives of Annie Rosenberg, wife of Hyman Rosenberg, both from Russia, lived in England and came to USA in 1892 with children Morris, Bertha, Lily and later, in NYC, had Dave. They originally lived in Adams, MA in early 1900s, and, it seems, moved to New York. Their daughter, Bertha, my grandmother, married Louis Greenwald and had my father, Morris and 2 fraternal twin daughters, Sally and Anne. There are relatives named Jablow from NYC and Philadelphia, but I know nothing about them. Does anyone have any information on any of these people or names, particularly in Massachusetts, NYC, or Philly? Thanks!-Sylvia Stella
