My grandfather's name was Joseph Rosinski and was born around 1911 and died around 1940. He came from New York State and married Anna Endyke around 1930 in Lawrence, Massachusetts. He had one son, Joseph, born in 1932. Other than my own siblings, I know of no other Rosinski family members from his lineage.

I also seem to remember as a wee one, being driven to a busy intersection where there was a cemetery. My dad and grandfather got out and walked around, but i was a little kid and they left me in the car...it could have been to see his (Thomas 's) tombstone. I guess I should try to check cemetery records. It would be easier if I were in the area instead of far away. the area might have been what they call 'black rock'..!?

Re: Rosinski family in buffalo NY area

to Alfred:
I had always heard that the family of Thomas John Rosinski came from what was in the 1880's (or thereabouts) the 'German part of Poland. I need to brush up on geography and am rather new at this. There was a name of 'Martin" in there somewhere. maybe his father? like a Martin Thomas...?? heard that name connection twice over the years.
The sons of Thomas were Bill, Stanley, John,...John Thomas was my grand father. I would have to try to look at an old list for other sons' names. Thomas John Rosinski had a hardware store in the early 1900's....in the Buffalo area...I would also like to know if Thomas had other siblings he came to this country with and who his parents were. This is a monumentous task.

Mary Rosinski/Rezeinski

Mary was my great-grandmother (married to Joseph Falensohek or Falenschek) and this was the spelling of her maiden name given by one of her son's on his social sec. application. This family settled in the Mille Lacs Lake area of MN around 1890. Supposedly, they came to the US from Prussia. I was interested to read the postings about whether Rosinski is a Jewish name because in our family (Roman Catholic), there is folklore that Mary and/or Joseph Falenschek were Jews who had been raised as Christians because of the Pogroms. Anyway, does anyone know anything about my Mary?

I would be interested to find out what you know about the family origins in Poland. I have been able to so far trace my branch to the 17hundreds and through several regions of eastern europe that i have been able to prove. There are stories and rumours about the family going back even a couple of centuries earlier but nothing that I've been able to prove so far. If you have any tips that could help me I would greatly appreciate the help. I would be more then happy to share what I know. If it is easier for you to write in polish please do not hesitate I am fluent in that language as well.

I have been able to track my lineage back to these two individuals. I show they had at least one son named Jacob who imigrated to the US in 1865. Their son was born Mar 19, 1841. He married a Maryanna Cichacki. It appears they are all from Prussia around the city of Posden. Any information someone might have regarding the Rosinski ancestors would be appreciated. I would be more that happy to share what I have which includes some translated Prussian military papers for Jacob. Thanks, David
Debra,

Sorry I do not know of any Charles W. Rosenski.
All I know is that my grandfather, Julius Karl Rosenski was born in Germany in the early 1900's. When he immigrated to the U.S., he joined the U.S. Army in WW 1 and they requested that he change his name from Rusinsky or whatever the original spelling was to something that sounded more Polish. That is how he became a Rosenski.
I do know that Julius was born in Leipzig, Germany and that his father's name was August. My great-grandmother's name remains unknown.
Karen

Does any of this sound familiar to you? I am also trying to find my family history beyond Rosinski, so if you have any information, please reply. Thanks.

I'm sorry to say that I can't make a match. My grandfather Boleslaw came from Zinn in the Poznan province. He was born in 1868. Maybe someone out there can make a connection for you. Have you tried a search on the Ellis Island site. But that's only good if he immigrated here after 1893.

This will probably be the only way we'll ever get the break we're looking for. I do have some other Rosinski notes that I have to translate when we get home from our summer place in Maine. This will probably be the mid-Sept time.

In the 1884 census of Centerville Township of Leelanau Co, MI he had 12 acres tilled and 4 cows.
He went to Milwaukee originally where the first four children were born. Daughter, Agnes was born in Leelanau Co, MI in 1878.
Some place I saw, but did not record it, that he came originally from Austria. It probably was the part of Poland controlled by Austria.
Carl and Marie came to the US between 1880 and 1883 from Danzig West Prussia with only living child Maximilian. Max received letters from a teacher E. Schulz with an address in "Langefuhr". They settled in the Washington DC area. Carl's occupation in this country is listed as "blacksmith" in the city directory. I am looking for information on them, their ancestors and/or how to find this information. (I'm a newbie)
Carl was born Oct 7,1841 and Marie June 7, 1838. Thanks.

Max Rosinski was a cabinet maker (furniture) in Washington DC from the around 1910 to 1950s. According to a classified ad in the Washington Post in September of 1910 the business was know as "Rosinski and Morris". This partnership seems to have lasted until around 1916 at which time letterhead reads simply Rosinski. We would like information on this partner Mr. Morris. Thank you.
