Hi Stephannie,
I know this may be a long shot. I have been researching a Jack or john or perhaps jimmy rossi. My great grandfathers name was Cosmo Monterosso and he was in America with his brother in law Giuseppe Condina who came out in 1911(they were originally from Sinopoli Calabria). I was told that Giuseppe changed his name to Jack Rossi because he was in trouble with the law. Giuseppe's fathers name was Andrea and he had a brother named Rocco (wife Carmina). This probably has no connection, but thought I'd try.
Good luck in your search.
Josie

My friend has a Domenico Rosse in her family - her grandmother was rose ann rosse whose father was vincent rosse - and his father was domenico rosse. Rose ann's brother was also called domenico and we believe he emigrated to australia. Rose ann rosse was born around 1869, we think she lived in Edinburgh before coming to Dundee where she married James Grady in 1902. She gave birth to twin sons in 1903 and died in childbirth. One of the twins survived (James Grady) - my friend's father. Do you think there is any connection?

He had a daughter who was the only child and she isn't around anymore. I did find a trunk in the basement with metal tag that said "Jan" (with two dots over the "a" in Jan).
Joseph Amhearst Rossi Sr

It sounds as though we at one time or another are all missing some part of our ancestral ties - well here goes - I am looking for what my great granfathers REAL ancestral name was before coming to the u.s. in the 1800s. He immigrated from Sicily - and his wife's maiden name was Mossa ,(Mary). no one really knows how they remember her maiden name and not their true surname when they came over. They had at least one child - a Joseph Amhearst Rossi Sr. My father is Joseph Amhearst Rossi jr. now deceased. We are told he was a candy maker in New York? Any info possible - or a place to start? Thanks

Rossi from Abruzzi Italy?

I am looking for any information on the Rossi family from
the area of Abruzzi di Napoli. All I know is that Nicholas
Rossi came to United States (might have been born here) and left
New Jersey where he had a small trucking business. He changed
his last name to Ross. I know about his family from PA on into
current times. He settled in Bridgeport PA. He was married to
a woman named Elvera (her last name escapes me!) who died a few
months after the birth of their 12th child. Any help?

Ann Rossi aka Eni Rossio

My grandmother was Anna Rossi, I believe before she came here her real name was Eni Rossio. The o was taken off her name when she came to America. Her relatives had property in Michigan. Her parents stayed in Italy, I believe Pumante. She married Fortunato Bergamino around 1912or so. They had two daughters, jeanne Anne Bergamino, in which my Aunt later changed it to Rossi, and Marcella Angela Bergamino, Jeanne was born in Houghton, Michigan and Marcella was born in San Francisco. I believe my grandfather got in trouble with the mafia in the early 20's and disappeared. that story may just be that, I don't know. If anyone can connect some of this for me I would appreciate it. My grandmother had several siblings, one's name was Lena, she never left Italy and was a school teacher and never married. I don't know the others but the name Marco comes to mind for one of her brothers.

I'm looking for any information on James Rossi. I know that he was born in or around Salerno, Italy. I also know that he had at least 1 son that everyone called Donny, and he had at least 1 daughter, Filomena. (She's my great-grandmother). The children were born in Salerno, Italy. That much I do know for a fact. I also know that sometime about the 1880's or the 1890's James Rossi immigrated to the United States. I have no idea what his wife's name was. I've been told, and have no proof of this, but James' wife was somehow related to the Como family.
