Does anyone know of a Peter Rost, who came over to America to join his family at the age of eight? I have ran into a brick wall with trying to find his parents or anything about his or his family before they arrived in the states. He was born Peter Smiley in Darmstast, Germany on October 28, 1847. He changed his name to Rost to join his mother who had married a Rost. He served in the 21st Reg. Missourie Infantry Volunteers in the Civil War. He married Alma Belle Pilcher on June 30, 1867 in Canton, MO. Where they raised a family and he died February 21, 1926. Any information will be greatly appriciated. This is my husband's great grandfather.
