Mrs. W. W. Rote Was born in Morgan county Ohio, January 3, 1838. She came wilth her parent to Illinois in 1862. In 1870 they moved near Waterville, KS. Mis Mary Newton, which was her maiden name, was married to W. W. Rote at Waterville, KS May 21, 1873, after which they moved to Clay co., KS There they resided until 1904, when they moved to Greenleaf. This place the family made their home to the present time. Mrs. Rote died at Greenleaf Thursday morning, Aug. 2 1917. Her age was 79. Her survivors were her husband, three daughters, Mrs. Huldah Crain, Mrs. Rose Jones, Miss Cora Rote, and three siblings: Mr. Henry Newton, Mrs. Carpenter Rote & Frank Newton.
