I found the file on FamilySearch. I had forgotten it is under G. C. Roth, which is probably why you couldn't find it. Here it is:

http://www.familysearch.org/eng/library/fhlcatalog/supermain...

Hello, cousin! Good to hear from you. I don't have good access to my genealogy program or notes right now because I just got a new computer, but I'll be happy to send you a copy of the family history soon if you will write me directly at VanetteHobbs@aol.com. It is on the LDS website MyFamily.com but I'd have to look up exacty how to find it there. If memory serves, there is some information in it about Sebastian and Elizabeth but I'm not sure about Martin and Margaretha. I believe I have birth and death dates for some of them if not all.

I would like very much to exchange information with you. In the 10 or so years I've been researching it appears there aren't many people researching our line.

Vanette in Missouri

I am a direct descendant of Johann Martin Roth. My grandmother collected a lot of information on our heritage before she passed away and I am trying to add onto it. I would be very interested in reading the history of the Roth family if you could direct me to it. I tried searching for it and have been unable to find it. Do you have any additional information about Sebastian Roth and Elizabeth Graim or Martin Drescher an Nargrethe Huber? Thanks

Charles and Susie would be my great-great grand parents. My Grandfather was their last child, albert Roth, Who married Edna Earl patrick. Her nieces and nephews called her "Aunt Early". Albert and Edna both came down with TB. Albert died at 42yrs, but Edna recovered. Their children: Albert Jr(watkinsville,ga), Benson(Clinton SC), Sammy Joe (died, but lived in Tampa,Fla), Lillian (died, but lived in Hapeville, Ga), and Betty Ward( my mom, Hull,ga).
Even though my grandmother recovered from TB, their landlord and good friend suggested the children be sent to a private orphanage. There, their needs would be met. So all the children went to Thornwell Orphanage in Clinton,SC except Albert Jr.
Albert's son Robby has a good family tree of the Roth's.
If you have any information that goes farther back I would like to know. sjohnson0428@bellsouth.net

I didn't even remember that I had posted this message until my daughter found it while registering on the site.

My father Paul Benjamin Roth, had seven brothers and sisters, I remember Hattie as being one of his sisters. He had two children with his first wife Gertrude, Herbert and Stanley. Stanley died at 17 years old in World WarII and received the purple heart for saving his platoon. When Gertrude died he married my mother who he met in Germany, he was a Captain in the USO and was over there with the Rockettes of Radio City Music Hall fame. Paul and my mother Alice had two children, me and a son Stanley who died at 6 months of age. I remember the candy store on Brighton Ave. in Coney Island, if I remember correct it was Uncle Dave's or Nathan's.

So if we are talking about the same people-we are family.

Please reply.

I am Rita's Daughter, Anissa Roth. My grandfather Paul Benjamin Roth, grandmother Alice Gerda Stolzenberg-Roth. I believe that he was born in the 1890's in Aug, maybe 25 or 28th. I was always told that he and my grandmother had a son who passed shortly after birth and then Rita, and her half brother Herbert. Among the tidbits of info i remember from childhood stories, he played trumpet. He met and married my grandmother at the end of WW2.

Re: Roth from Hessen

I also have Roths from Hessen-Darmstadt thought they may not be related to yours. The generations are somewhat removed but the name Conrad caught my eye.

In 1838 my Friederich Roth with wife Margaretha Drescher left Babenhausen with their second son Johann Martin, their first and third children having died. They landed in Baltimore, Maryland and after living a few years near the Maryland-Pennsylvania border went to Indiana and eventually to Kansas.

They had four more children in Pennsylvania, all sons. The fifth was named Gorg Konrath aka George Conrad.

A Michael Roth, also of Babenhausen, was on the same ship in 1838 but we have not been able to make a connection with him.

Friederich's parents are Sebastian and Anna Elisabeth (Greim) Roth, both born in or near Babenhausen/Darmstadt. He had a sister Anna Katharina born May 25, 1809. I know nothing more about her. His brother, Johann Adam, apparently emigrated with wife Barbara Rudolph and daughter Barbara before 1838, as they were in Pennsylvania by 1834.

Friederich was a tailor before leaving Germany and became a preacher in the U.S. One of his children, my great-grandfather, was a coal miner, as were some of his grandchildren. This may have been only because they settled in a part of Kansas where coal mining was predominant and not from any family tradition.

Perhaps there is some small clue for you here; the repetition of names might mean something - or not. If you should find a connection, there is a history of this Roth family that was written by George Conrad Roth. I will be happy to share it with you, and it is also on the FamilySearch site in their Family History Library. Title begins, "A Brief History of the Roth Family . . . "

Vanette

Solomon is the brother to my GG Grandfather David Roth. Their parents were Edward and Mary (Close) Roth. I found the cemetery where Solomon and Anna are buried along with their daughter and her family. I took pictures of the headstones at the Rosehill Cemetery in Calamus, Iowa while on vacation last week. I also went to the other brother Leonard's family grave site at Lamoille, Illinois, and to David & Nancy (Phelps) Roth in Hinsdale, Illinois. There is probably one more brother, Hiram. He was buried in the same lot as Leonard's family. There were a few other Roth's buried there. Will have to do more research to find out how everyone is related. If you would like to see any of the pictures I have taken, please contact me at kzhome@frontiernet.net Kathy

Looking for information about Henry Roth married to Dora

I'm attempting to research my husband's family. His great-grandmother was Eva Catherine Roth who was married to William F Grothe, Sr. They were married in Holt County Nebraska (I'm assuming this since they lived there with their parents before marraige and resided there after marraige). She is buried in the Cemetary in Atkinson Nebraska. Her date of birth is Dec 10, 1879 in Russia. Her father: Henry Roth, born Russia, abt 1841. Her mother: Dora (Albrecht), born Russia October 9, 1855. Henry and Dora were married in Russia Nov 26, 1878. I know they had several children. Eva & a son Henry were born in Russia. They came to the US May 24, 1886.

I am trying to find more information on both Henry and Dora. Thanks for any help you can give.

Diane

Yes, they are from Hessen-Darmstadt. I have very little information about them, just know that my g-grandfather was a miner before they came to the US. I have a photo of his parents, but no names are on it. I'm pretty much at a standstill in my research with them.

There are a significant number of Stolts in my lineage. I have a 300+ page book on the Westerlund heritage that I inherited from my older sister.
