He was married to Anna Ankel.
His son was Christoph Friedrich Rothmann. Born in Germany in 1798 and died in Russia in 1855. He married Maria Reiser.
Their son, Mathias Rothmann, is my great-grandfather. Born and died in Russia. Married Katharina Fischer.

Be sure to look at both message boards when you are researching these names. I always thought it was with one "m" in my family tree, but learned they had dropped one "m", so I found my grandmother's information as Rothmann, not Rothman. There are two boards. You might find it useful to look at both of them. One "m" or two "m's".

To the best of my knowledge, I cannot find any connection. I do not know much about my Great Granfather's family; He became mentaly ill from a robbery when my granfather was only nine.

Supposedly he had three sisters. I have found a census that seems to be his family, and none of the names are Elizabeth.

My Great grandfather had only two children; my Grandfather - Herbert, and my Great Aunt - Minerva.

He was only married once to my great granmother; he was robbed while managing his store and unfortunatly became mentally unbalanced from the attack. My great grandmother placed him in an institution afterwards, causing a great rift between her and my great grandfather's family. (It was then that our side of the family had lost all connection with the Rothman side of my family.)
My paternal grandmother , Elizabeth Rothman, was born in Russia in 1879. She married my grandfather, Jacob Ochsner, in 1900 in Russia. They came to America in 1908, through Quebec. On the S.S. Montfort.
I would like to find more of her family history. I believe some of her family went to South America. Some also went to Canada. I do not know her parents names. On her mother's side they were Fisher/Fischer. Do you have anything on her?

Looking for any additional info on Samuel or Rachael Rothman. Listed in the 1920 Census as having come over from Russia in 1899. Parents of both were Russian and Jewish. She was married before and had a daughter, Francis, born about 1894. They had 4 children of their own: Murry (Maury?) b. 1899, Harry b abt 1902, Ethel b. abt 1904, David b abt 1908 and Helen b abt 1913. THey lived in Kings County, Brooklyn New York and Samuel's father (name unknown) lived in New York as well. Samuel was a furrier and they also had a nephew living with them Samuel Glaustein b abt 1903.

I am currently searching the 1910 and 1900 censuses, but anyone that's ever tried looking though a Brooklyn census without knowing the true address knows what I'm up against.
Trying to find Bertil Rothman's grave

I´m trying to find any information about my great- grand-uncle, christian name Bertil Rothman. He left Finland early 1900 and never heard since. I have had great difficulties to search his tracks, because of lack of basic information: where he had settled, and so on. All I know for fact is that he left and never came back to Finland. Apparently he was kind of "Black sheep" of the family, because no one talked much about him and what was the reason for him to leave (I know that there were some issues which influenced on his decicion to leave country, but what, that I don't know...)
Now I need badly information about graves (I have looked nearly everi knovn and listed graveyards including finnish surnames, but no result!) containing soundex- surnames (he did not speak any other language than finnish at his leaving time, so surname may have been miss-spelled, or something like that). Can anyone give me peace of advice how to continue of my work?

Sorry,
I made a mistake. I just talked to him and he said John Joseph was married Before marrying his mom. He said that Stephanie is his niece and he is hoping that Kelley's husband is the family from the first marriage that he has been searching for. His father (John Joseph Rothman) had a daughter, which would be a step-sister of his, with the first marriage and Marty found out not too long ago by his aunt, but she refused to give any names. They never let him know about this while growing up. Noone has been able to find them until, hopefully, now. I tried to send an email to you both on his behalf, since he does not have email access. I hope you have received it. He would be very excited to here from you both.
Melissa

Fannie Rothman/August Schultz - New York

Hi...I started this late in life, but I am looking for anyone who might have some relationship to August Schultz who was married to Fannie and lived on 2nd Ave in Manhattan from around 1910 to 1920. They had 7 children, William, August, Helen, Elsie, Sylvia, Irene and Hilda. I do not know where or when he died, but I beleive Fannie died in 1966 in either New York or New Jersey. These are my Grandparents and since my Mother is gone as well as most of her family, it has been very difficult to find any answers. Anyone who can help...thank you!

Have you tried searching passenger lists for this name?
you are probably having difficulty because
alot of times
people immigrated to other places and when they arrived port authority officials changed the spellings of names to make their life easier (exam. Daviskowske changed to Davis, etc.) they tried to give them more Americanized names.)

which in turn could of changed the pronunciation of his name as
well.
i would try to find others with his same last name, folks that are researching it they have probably run across the same problem
and ask them what the name has changed to over the years,
hope this might help you.
Sharon

His father John divorced his mother and remarried and he was not told their names by his mother but he knows he has some ( she didn't tell him until right before she passed. He doesn't even know where his father was buried, but would like any help finding him.
Thank you for any help,
Melissa
