I just saw a post of yours from 2008 at Rootsweb on the Roush board. Mentioning that your ancestors were Carey & Sarah Roush. If they are from Jasper Co, Iowa, we are kin. I descend from Carey's sister Rachel Roush/Clark & I am always looking for kin to network with. I have a photo of Grandma Rebecca taken the October before she passed.
I see now that you are a Carey Roush descendant, brother to my Rachel Roush/Clark. I have a Photo of rachel the year she died. There is only one Rhoades/Rhoads/ect book published that I have found. "Memoirs of My Ancestry", by Velma Rhoads/Trant. It is available on microfilm from the Family Histry Library in Salt Lake, but it really does not deal with Rebeecca Roads & John Roush. Other than to say in her father, Philip Rhoads Will, that Rebecca & John Roush do not live in Ohio. Her brother also my ancester, Joseph W. Rhoads was the administrator of their fathers estate.

Hi David,
I just ran across a notation in "Mc Brides Court and Pleas, Highland County, Ohio", "Daniel Burns appointed guardian of Joseph Phillip (14), minor of John Phillip Roads, Valentine ____ suriety. _____suit Samuel Rhoades{possibly Joseph W.'s brother} vs. Joe W. Rhoads, executor of the Will for Philip Rhoads and heirs listed above ______ Catherine and Christian Houseman and Rebecca & John Roush, do not live in Ohio."
Catherine & Christian Houseman is Joseph W. Rhoades's sister and Brother-in-law.
Rebecca & John Roush are also Joseph W. Rhoads's sister and brother-in-law, living in Marion County, Iowa.
I have not yet aquired a copy of Philip Rhoads's Will, But it may give us another place to look for answers to questions tha we have. I also have a Photo of Rebecca Roads/Roush. There are those that have questioned wether Rebecca was actually a daughter of Philip Rhoads. She would not be mentioned along with her husband John Roush, if she did not have claim to his estate.
Jake
David this old gal 's head is spinning. (grins) Was the John of the John 1766 b. 1801 in Shenandoah VA? Did his Mother die in Adams Co. OH? He also had a brother "Jonas" b. 1809 that was in the land partitiion in Highland Co. OH. I have the 4 books of Roush too. I so wish that Ancestry.com would allow on their world tree to put a post script. I saw where one of my relatives was b. 1803 and m. 1805. I became a lifetime member of Roush in 1983. Even this year still do not get an answer about book #5 since my Mariah "Molly" and Daniel are not in it. Book number 1 even mentions they do not know what became of the those two sisters . You are welcomed to contact me personally at my email. One of the reasons I still try and get a document on certain things (example) land sales, heirs, wills because I had so many same name people. Another example the same mis- information passed on generation after generation. At one time I was looking for Lewis Gibler (german records are spelled G not K) and their were 5 of them. Needless to say I was thrilled to pieces when I knew mine was the one in Illinois. So David I agree we all should keep open mind and either through some document not take information for fact. My Daniel b. VA d. OH two sisters married Bordens and Borden brother (Augustine b. 1751 VA) married. a Mary Wendle 14 Jun 1774 Saumsville VA. She was a daughter of Augustine Wendel with brothers Christopher and Valentine. After her death Augustine Borden m twice more. It would be very easy for someone to say that is an error her Father was Augustine not her husband. But there the documents are to varify both names. So with dedicated people such as your self and "others", we can come up with facts. Thank goodness for someone like you that can sift through all this. Lets keep trying. Charlotte

Donna:
It's been eight years since you posted the query on Belvia Victia, so I don't know if you're still looking. Belvia Victria was one of 10 children of Noah Lewis Victria. The family was from Newton County, Georgia, but moved to southern Oklahoma (the Chickasaw Nation in Indian Territory at that time) and Rusk County, Texas, sometime between 1880 and 1900. Belvia's brother, Carl Lewis Victria, was my grandfather. He had a farm near Bradley in Grady County, a former Chickasaw Indian settlement near Stephens County. My parents, both in their 90s, still live in Duncan, Okla. I have information on all the siblings, if you're interested. You can contact me at tom@tuell.net.

Hello,

Did you read the query from LynnLogan?The photos attached had a list of children's names at the end. Your name is what made me reply. Vienna or Viena is not that common. Maybe you should read that list. You know how families have namesakes? Maybe that Vienna is who you are named for.
Just a thought.

Sincerely,

MM

I realize these are fairly old posts; however, I thought I might post some information about another book as it does not seem to have been mentioned. I ran across a book titled "A Brief History of the Family Thomason in England and the United States" by Robert Stewart Thomason - 1945. A couple of Thomasons married Roushs and he has included them in this book.

He states John Roush, born in 1766, married Magdalene Wendell. Just thought I would share this in case it sheds any new light on the subject.

This is a very interesting conversation. I am a direct descendant of Carey and Sarah Roush son of John Roush b. 1801. I am interested in how to obtain the Roush family books mentioned above and any deffinitive proof that John b. 1801 is son of John b. 1766. I am also interested in the Roads/Rhoads information for I have not started working on that line yet. Any information is greatly appreciated.

My Roush line is as follows: George Roush b.1776 PA;

Henry Roush b. 1803 PA.;  Henry H. Roush b.1836 PA;

(He was a brother to William Roush b.1831 PA. Who is

the William Roush in Lynne's tree) Lawrence Franklin

(Frank) Roush b. 1866 in Iowa. Homer Dee (Dee) Roush b.

1896 IA. I am not sure if any of my direct line lived

in Ohio but I know many of their relatives did. Homer

Dee's sister Helen, married a Verne Griffith in 1912.

Would like to hear if you have any information on any-

one I've mentioned.

Barbara

Hi David,
I just want to chime in on your discussion here. I will be little benifit, but I am also very interested. I descend from Rebecca Roads & her husband John Roush. So I am interested in verifying her birth to Phillip Roads. I also decend from Rebecca's brother Joseph W. Rhoads who marries Lydia Roush, thru their son Levi, who marries Catherine Roush, Lydia's brother Jacob Roush's daughter. My Roush's & Rhoades inter-marry for three straight generation's Plus the Rebecca Roads side line. I get a very streamlined tree. Anyway for now I would like to verify that Rebecca Roads & Joseph W. Rhoads are indead brother & sister.
