I have created a 70+ page file for descendents of Guillaume Rousseau born November 21, 1777, died Dec. 10, 1862 and his wife Marie Louise Morin born 1789. They were married Feb. 4, 1812 at Montmagny, Quebec, but all of their children were born at St. Vallier, Bellechasse. Some of these families lived at Armagh, Bellechasse.

I have names of 13 children for them including FIVE distinct daughters all with given name MARIE. Some people have posted online that one or more of these daughters was married multiple times but that information is wrong.

For example, their daughters:

Marie Anne Rousseau born about 1812 married Etienne Cadrin and had at least 13 children. She died in March 1894.

Marie Rousseau born abt. Dec. 14 1821 died and was buried Dec. 26, 1821. She was 12 days old when she died.

Marie Leocadie Rousseau was born about 1823 and died August 1906; was married to Thomas Theberge, at least 13 children.

Marie Rousseau born March 1824, died July 1873 was married to Francois Xavier Morin and had at least 7 children.

Another Marie Rousseau was born in same family August 7, 1826, unless this is Marie Leocadie wife of Thomas Theberge? (If so, then there were only four daughters named Marie.)

Another of Guillaume Rousseau and Marie Louise Morin's children was Francois Xavier Rousseau born 1815, married to Marie Reine Mercier. I cannot find a date of death for this Francois, but his wife Reine re-married on October 18, 1859 to Pierre BOUTIN, a man who was only four years older than her eldest Rousseau son. I have not yet found a date of death for Reine either. She and Pierre were at Armagh, Bellechasse in year 1901 for the census.

Does anyone have a date of death and place of death for Francois X. Rousseau, Marie Reine Mercier or Pierre Boutin?

Does anyone know if Reine Mercier and Pierre had children together?

I have names of TWELVE children for Marie Reine Mercier and Francois Xavier Rousseau, including two sons who died in Minnesota- Francois Xavier Rousseau 1839-1914, and Michel Elzear Rousseau 1847-1920.

At least two of the children went to Vermont and may have died at Bennington- I do not have dates of death for them yet: Sophie Rousseau born Jan. 1846 married to Francois Claude (Frank) Pellerin; they had at least 11 children, most of them born in Vermont, and Guillaume Napoleon Rousseau born November 1844 whom I believe is the direct ancestor of one of my sons in law.

Guillaume went by the name Napoleon or Paul, and in one census was recorded with the surname BROOKS. His wife was Lena Laclair, daughter of Stephen and Mary Laclair. I have names of eight children for Paul and Lena, most of them born in Vermont. Paul and Lena were still alive in 1920 at Bennington.

It took quite a while, but I can finally give you the actual date of birth for Antoine Rousseau, son of Jean Rousseau & Marguerite Filion. He was born 29 March 1812 St-Constant, Laprairie, and baptized 30 March 1818 same place. He married Henriette Senecal 26 Apr 1836 at St-Edouard, Napierville, Quebec.

Hope this didn't take too long! I have found 14 children so far for Jean & Marguerite, but am stumped so far on a daughter Marie born 1800 died Dec 1821 age 21 in St-Constant.

I have a Louis Henri born 1896, died 1962. My notes say his wife was Margaret Burns, but that could be wrong.

His parents were Louis Henri Rousseau and Lucie Sauve.

He would be a brother to our ancestor Joseph Louis Albert, born in 1887.

Does that sound right?

My grandfather was Louis Henri Rousseau. I think he grew up in L'ile Perrot. He was posted in Belgin during the first world war and on his return he worked in a furnature building factory in Kitchner. He married my grandmother , Margret O'harra from Hanover. his son was John louis rousseau my father.

In the name of God Amen. I John Rousseau, of Columbia County and the state of Georgia, being low and weak in sickness but in perfect senses and sound in memory in calling to mind it is appointed for all men to die do make this my Last Will and Testament in manner following.

In the first place, I leave my soul to God who gave it to me and as for what worldly estate it hath pleased God to bless me with, I do give and bequeath in the manner following.

Item: I do lend unto my wife Jane during her widowhood one Negro wench named Patience and one Negro fellow Will. The said fellow it is my will and desire that my executors sell him and the money of such sale to the amount of 40 pounds to take it to Jacob Castleberry to redeem a Negro boy pawned by me for 40 pounds to the said Castleberry which time is out the 10th of January next, and if the said boy should be redeemed, I lend him the said boy named Jacob to my wife Jane during her widowhood.

Item: I also lend unto my wife Jane during her widowhood two featherbeds and my household furniture that belongs to me, and my cattle, hogs, horses, working tools and plantation tools and utensils.

Item: I do will and bequeath to my daughter Margaret one Negro girl named Bett and one feather bed and furniture.

Item: I do will and bequeath to my daughter Nancy one Negro boy named Tom, the said Negro girl named Bett and the said Negro boy Tom to be delivered to my two daughters any time after twelve months from date.

Item: I do will and bequeath to my daughter Betty one Negro boy named Jerry to be delivered at any time after three years from this date.

Item: I do will and bequeath to my daughter Sarah one Negro boy named John to be delivered her my said daughter any time after she arrives to the age of seventeen years old. I do will to my said daughters after the decease or marriage of my said wife Jane, Negro woman named Patience and her child Fanny and what increase the said wench Patience may have for the future to my four said daughters, to be equally divided between them.

Item: I do will and bequeath to my sons James, George, Thomas, and a child in the womb after the decease or marriage of my said wife, one Negro boy named Jacob if redeemed. If not a Negro fellow named Will with two feather beds and all of my stock of cattle, horses, hogs and what household furniture that belongs to me, and plantation utensils and one old waggon to be equally divided between them.

Item: It is my will and desire that if any of my four said daughters to depart this life without any lawful heirs or issue of their bodies, then for want of such heirs it is my will and desire and bequeath for what I have willed them to be equally divided between my said daughters that may survive, and as for a feather bed that willed to my daughter, Margaret, I made a mistake in willing it for the said bed is her own right and property. It is a bed she has made and earned since she has been her own woman and for herself therefore the said bed is not to be appraised as my estate. Also be it remembered that my father William Rousseau in the year 1784 did lend me one Negro fellow named Peter during my said father’s pleasure which my father was to have him any time he pleased to call for him which said Negro is none of my property and it is my desire that the said Negro, Peter, work on this plantation I live on to help raise my children until my father shall call for him or until my said father’s pleasure to be known if he should please give him to any of my children.

Item: I do give and bequeath to my son William $1.00.

Item: I do leave, constitute my trusty friends Ignatius Few and Col. William Few my whole sole executors to this my last will and testament as witness my hand and seal this fifth of September 1796.

1806 Columbia Co. Ga. Gatewood Dunn married Elizabeth(Betty) Rousseau Feb 18

Their children were Albert G. Jackson, Thomas and Nancy Jane , John , William Ruccker, and possibly James and Mildred

I am working on the Dunn Rousseau connection. I descend from Nancy jane Dunn daughter of Elizabeth (Betty) Rousseau Dunn.

Gordon, I'd love to know more about the contents of those letters to France. It makes sense that since Connie's husband was a lawyer, he should act on his F-I-L's behalf regarding the SD estates and any claims he had regarding those estates, but do know if they contained information or descriptions of those estates? Do they contain information about other family members in France? Have they been translated into English? How far back does the bible trace the family lineage? I have a great deal of information about JBCR in Philadelphia and Bensalem. You probably have this information but I'd be glad to share anything I have. I live in the area and have done my research locally. Clet Rousseau, son of JBCR and brother of Constance was buried in Morrisville, PA. The tale of their shipwreck was found on his tombstone in the Morrisville Cemetery. I'd be glad to pay for any fees involves in sharing this information. I have been a research partner of Marge's for many years, working on the Clet Rousseau line. Do you have any information about where the ship carrying JBCR's wife and children was wrecked? We thought it was wrecked off the coast of perhaps Spain, as it traveled back to France for safety during the insurrections. Does your research show any information about this? BTW, glad to help and share as well. I have many boxes of research that have been shared with Marge and others over the years.

I'm not related to her, but to her husband, CHARLES PREECE. He was my maternal grandmother's uncle, Uncle Charlie. They lived in Ross for a generation or two and my mother knew his sons Fred and Arthur (there was also a daughter, Gertrude), and Arthur's daughters Doreen and Eileen, who were at school in Ross during the war. As far as I know, Charlie inherited his father, George Preece's butcher's business in Ross. If you'd like what few details about that branch of the family I have, you're very welcome. On the other hand, you may be able to tell me a lot more. Fred married Edith E Nichols, Gertrude married William F Marvin, and Arthur Charles married Dorothy Knight.

i am looking for any information on my grandfather Clarence "Rocky" Rousseau. all i realy know about him is that he is from the New Hampshiere, born in the 1930's, he served in the Navy and was stationed in southern Califronia around 1956-7, He worked in the San Fracisco area in the mid to late 80's. Sorry I am so slow. Just finally had to get back to you on these questions. A few folks have asked about the letters it has been several years since I saw them and am still trying to figure out where I put them. Until I can place them I am of little help as for documentation. What I remember is mostly in French, there was some attempt to translate in the mid 70's. I do not remember any mention of the location of the ship wreck, it was on the way back to France ...but it's been quite a while since I looked at the records and my French is rusty. I will renew my search.

My Gordon line follows from the Rousseau-Gordon marriage. I have many of the letters that Thomas Francis Gordon wrote to France on behalf of his wife and father in law (Dr. Rousseau) after the ship wreck. He was lawyer in Philly as was his son Nathaniel Gordon, and his son L. Frank Gordon(my Great Grand father) until they moved out west. But the family bible is in my safe along with alot of correspondence from the early 1800's. Any particular questions?

Your line is from William Rousseau. Travis was either a son or a grandson of William Rousseau of Georgia. I am also a Rousseau. My line was William Henry Rousseau, b. 1818, "Ga". I believe he was a brother of your "Travis" Rousseau. Check out Texas history. "Travis" was in Texas very early on, and there is a great deal of history on him. Believe-if I remember correctly" he was connected in some way to the "Battle of the Alamo". He died in a fight-shoot out. Was a personal friend of Sam Houston, as well as his side kick. Wm was married and had children.
Start researching in Georgia, I can't remember exactly, but think his father lived in the Macon Co area.

He married Eugenia 'Jennie' Clark born March 26, 1866 in Saltillo, Hardin County, Tennessee and she died January 16, 1948 in St. Louis, MO.
They married October 01, 1882 in Johnson County, Arkansas and had 1 daughter:
Louise Rousseau born September 1883 in MO - she married James M. Pflager born 1880 in MO.
They had 1 child - Eugenia R. Pflager born 1908 in MO.
Cannot locate parents of Lovell.

I see that you have oodles of cousins. I am researching my mother's side and her maiden name is Rousseau. She lost touch with the Rousseaus when she was a teenager. She was born in LA and her father's name was Joseph (b.1907); his father was William (b. 1879); and his father was Alfred (b. abt 1856). Do any of these names show up on your list of cousins? I''ve been told that the Premier of France , Pierre Rene Waldeck Rousseau (1846-1904) is related to my great grandfather Levi W. Rousseau (1866-??). I can get my dates pretty close except for "one" (I hope) missing link. Levi 's father is from France but now it seems Levi and his brothers were orphaned in New York around 1880 and I am having trouble finding information on his parents arrival in the US. I also can't get passed Pierre Rene Waldeck's parents, one brother (LOUIS) and Louis' son Rene Louis Joseph. I know Pierre Rene Waldeck Rousseau was married but I don't know if he had any more brothers or son's.

I wonder if your Rousseau, could have been changed to Rushlow? I have great grandmother Lillian rushlow married Donol Eugene goodridge-Goodrich. I am having a problem finding her fathers father born Canada. I also see you have a Durivage that married a Jannette Goodrich. At that time they seemed to marry in the same families. I hope this migfht help you.

I am Searching for any information on the marriage of Francoise Rousseau b. 1740? and Francois Boulet dit Goulet b. Dec 2 1735. I understand this was her second marriage. I have her parents listed as Jean Rousseau and a Miqmac (Sauvegesse) woman. Their daughter Julie Helen Boulet married Joseph Dugue(Duguay) and she is my ggggreat Grandmother. I would love any info.
