Thanks for that, lol, but I've have spent hours looking at the site before.

I have a 4th cousin in Skien, that was able to quickly find information I was looking for at that site. But when I tried to find the same information, NOTHING, until I went through certain records, page by page. I think I'm gonna have to really practice reading Norwegian Cursive if this is how I'm gonna have to do it. And I know I must, as my 4th cousin was able to smash a fortified brick wall in a matter of seconds.

Thanks for all your replies. I plan on spending all day Sunday looking at them, so my husband and kids are kind of mad at you, lol. I'm finding Norwegians and those here in America descended from Norwegians, are very very helpful with Genealogy.

Naming conventions. I was actually taught the "son" and "datter" in school, almost every year, in Minnesota. lol Then later I found out about the farm names, but was the traditional before the late 1800s early 1900's? My Rovig (and her husband, a Fremo) came here 1874.
