My great grandmother's name is Helen Rozanski (1896-1961). She married Jan Pacyna and they resided in CT. I believe her parents names are Aniela Szymanski and Thomas Rozanski but the trail ends there. I was wondering if anyone might have any info on either Thomas or Helen? Anything would be greatly appreciated!

DOD Identifies Army Casualties

The Department of Defense announced today the deaths of three soldiers who were supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.

They died April 4, in Faryab province, Afghanistan, of wounds sustained during an enemy attack by a suicide vehicle borne improvised explosive device. The soldiers were assigned to the 1st Battalion, 148th Infantry Regiment, 37th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, Ohio National Guard, Walbridge, Ohio.

Hi ....am wondering if you are my mother's niece? She had two half brothers, Michael Rozanski and Otto Pruitt. From Taylorville, Illinois. Michael lived with his grandparents for awhile...Otto was adopted by his mother's sister. Their mother's name was Juanita....Rozanski was married to Emma Wieman first and had my mother, Cleo. After divorce married Juanita and had two boys.

Hi- am looking for information on Maryanna Sokol Rozanski.
She was my grandmother. Born in Poland she came through
Ellis Island with her son Antoni Rozanski. Thereafter she
had Lawrence, Bartholomew,Sophie and Stanislaus.She lived
in Wilkes-Barre.I also had a great aunt named Katherine

My great grandmother was a Rozanski in CT. Her name was Helen (Rozanski) Pacyna. She was married to John Pacyna. Her parents were: Thomas Rozanski and Aniela Szymanski.

Thanks... I will be interested in finding out more. I still cannot find any connection to my great grandpa (Thomas Smigielski). But I did find that Casimer Sikorski, husband of Mary Czyznielewski, and brother in law to Thomas, was the godfather of Aniela Jadarkiewicz in 1907. Please let me know if any of these names are familiar to your sister in law. Thanks.
PS. These families were from St Hedwigs and St Adalberts in Toledo.

Her death certificate shows her father as Jan Skarupinski and her mother as Mary Mietkiewicz. To be honest, I don't know where the Rozanski name came from but I suspect from family members. I will check some more since this is my sister-in-law's family.

I have Rosalia's maiden name as Skorupinski/Skarupinski. Was she married before?
My ggrandpa states on a passenger list that Joseph Jadarkiewicz is his uncle, but I have not yet connected the families.

Simon & Frances (Kanarski) Rozanski immigrated to the U.S. together with my great grandparents, Frank & Mary (Hoffman) Susmarski on March 26, 1881. Both families settled in Chicago and were Godparents to each other's children. I was hoping to learn if there was any relationship between the Rozanski/Kanarskis and the Susmarski/Hoffmans.

I am looking for any information on my maternal grandfather Stanley Rozanski { Stanislaw Ruzanski }born around 1894 in Poland probably around Galacia and died on March 1, 1965 in Chicago.His father was Joseph Rozanski and mother was Maria Tyrpin. Stanley had a brother named Frank Rozanski and another brother named Anthony Rozanski. Stanley came to the U.S. on Sept. 2 1913 and lived in Chicago. Stanley married Katarzyna Zygmunt in 1915 in Chicago. Stanley had 4 sisters that I know of having surnames of Vadas, Marciniak, Mytych, Filipiak.Any info would be greatly appreciated as I can't seem to find any more right now. Thank you in advance.

My great-great-grandfather, Boleslaw Rozanski, supposedly came from Preczki, Poland. He was born October 25, 1871 to parents Franciszek and Marya (nee Szczepanska). We believe he had the following siblings:

Wladyslaws/Ladislaw
(sister who beame a nun)
(brother killed in train accident)

Unless I'm doing some serious dreaming here, I was recently at St. Mary's Cemetery in Lincoln, IL (Logan County) where I was photographing the stones of John and Cecilie (how it's spelled on the stone) Rozanski and could have sworn I saw that Borowiak name not far from them. I did not notice the first names since I was not looking for that surname, but there COULD be a connection there I suppose. Any chance these folks could have moved to the Logan County area?

Ro~z|an~ski is also a common name -- as of 1990 there were 11,624 Poles by that name. The ultimate root is ro~z|a, "rose," but in most cases Ro~z|an~ski probably started as meaning "person or family connected with a place called Ro~z|any, Ro~z|anna, Ro~z|anki, etc.," and those places got their names from some connection with roses or, in a few cases, maybe were named for a woman named Ro~z|a or Ro~z|anna. As is usual with common surnames connected with place names, there are many places all over Poland that qualify, so the surname gives little in the way of clues as to where the family might have come from.
