well, i'm Paulo Ruberto and i'm of Italian ancestry.
I'm from Brazil, where there used to imigrate many Italians in 20's. I'd like to know the other Ruberto's from anywhere in the world. Let's exchange some informations

Have you heard of any of these RUBERTO's from Philadelphia?

GAETANO RUBERTO, born 1865, Italy
He married ROSE.
They came over to the US in 1901.
Their kids are ADELINE, married Pasquale Martini
ALFREDO, ETORRINE, DANTE (Daniel), VITTORIO, LEONILDA, EMMA married a CELLET, and there was a JENNIE I think. They all lived in 34th. ward of Philadelphia on Simpson Street. Some of them moved to Drexel Hill.

We are an Italian speaking, English family who have recently moved to live in Itri, which is near to Minturno.

We fell in love with the area when on holiday a few years ago, and have a passion for all (nearly all !!!) things Italian.

We too are researching family links particularly in the Atina, Frosinone area.

I am not a relative but I might be able to help you. I have relatives that were born in Sambiase. I went to http://www.sambiase.com and emailed the webmaster there. He goes by Gierre but his name is Giuseppe Ruberto. Just click on "Email" on one of the top tabs. He might be a relative of yours and he might be able to help you. You will probably have to translate the website using Google Translator unless you speak italian. It's easy and he is such a great help!!! He found so much on my family for me and he is very nice. Madaline & Grace Ruberto/Roberto

Does anyone know the names Madaline and Grace Ruberto; born +/- 1860. Madaline married Vincenzo Sofia had daughters Maria Grazia and Angela Marie, then died in 1897. Grace also had two daughters; Antonette (Verrone) and Tessie (Maffia).

My Mom's Maternal grandparents were Augustino De Cosmo (possibly DiCosimo) Born 7/22/1883 in the provence of Avolino near Naples, Italy. He died 2/6/1970. His wife was Angelina Ruberto born 10/1887 in Provence of Avolino died 12/6/1948. Both died in NYC. They had two children in Italy and both died there. They came to NYC before 1911. Had two children in America. My great uncle Luigi (Louie) born 4/7/1912 and my grandmother Govanina (Jennie) born 2/7/1914.

Paternal Grandparents of my Mom were: Rosario Morando born either 9/30/1874 or 10/30/1874 in Sicily possibly Provence of Morando. Died in NYC 5/21/1933 or 5/24/1933. His wife was Govanina Morando (married and maiden name were both Morando). She was born 2/9/1883 also in the Provence of Morando. Rosario or Govanina's parents were Francis and Angela Morando. Not sure which one. Rosario arrived on Ellis Island around 1910 with someone named George. Could have either been his son or a brother. Govania arrived around 1912 or 1913 with her daughter (my aunt) Paulina. That's what my mom has for now. Rosario was a doll maker in Italy.

Hi Ferdinando! I suspect you are writing from Australia. A lot of us Rubertos came to Canada instead of the U.S. especially those who came after the second world war. My great-grandfather was Francesco Ruberto from Sambiase. I have information on his children and I know for a fact that his father's name was Vincenzo. I am missing a few dates and there is an eight year gap in which his children were born. He might have gone to the U.S. at that time to check it out because a lot of people from Sambiase and Nicastro (now Lamezia Terme) left to go to the U.S. My family tree is riddled with immigrants. I am one of them having come to Canada in 1961. Ciao. Joanne

It's so sad to think that you were the only Rubertos growing up in Brooklyn. If you go to the Ellis Island website you will notice that a lot of Rubertos from Sambiase immigrated to the U.S. in the early part of the last century. I was born in Nicastro next door to Sambiase. My dad's family is from Saambiase. Some of us immigrated to Canada, others to Argentina and some to the north of Italy. We have a family reunion almost every year for those of us who live in Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada. Fortunately we never grew up thinking we were alone but it's still nice to be able to find far away cousins.

i know that i have family in the us but thay are mostly in callaforina, have done some reserch and have found our name to come from germen desent from nobel geman desent that is!!! how cool is that to know that we came from kings and qeens?i to did not know that there where as meny of us as there are ,but if you go to avellino and a littal village called
montefalcione there are lotts of ruberto's as that is where my father and grandfather and grategarndfather came from. my grategandfather also spent time in america a few years im tolled about 1910 or there abouts so there could be more of us related thant you think?just though i would say hi to al of the ruberto's in the us lots of love and peace ferdinando.xxxxx

Yes but you may have some of the dates wrong. My grandfather was Carmine. Me father was Ciriaco and I have a brother named carmine who is 62. My dad nas passed. He was born in 1910.

Hi my name is Edward Ruberto my parents were from calabria also sambaise.
I am not sure if we are related or not but I think it is interesting that we have the same last name and that our families are from the same region in italy.
My PARENTS were FRANCESCA andFRANCESCO Ruberto
My mother was born on March 6th 1919 and my father may 8th 1920.

I am your father's wife Deb. I also have an interest in family genealogy. From your grandmother's (Anne Lichtenberg Ruberto) memoirs I have pieced together a family genealogy chart for the Rubertos. It has a fascinating mystery to it!
I am sorry that your growing up years and those of your brother Tony, Jr. put you so far from your father. Your brother was named for your grandfather Anthony Francis Ruberto. I have a picture of your mother Tanna that Tony had restored digitally because of water damage. I would love to send it to you, but I have never had your address.

Hello all....I have just begun to look into my family history on my italian side...I do not have much information and I'm looking to find out more. I know that we come from Calabria, when my great grandfather came from Italy to Canada he didnot know how to spell and so our name is spelt Roberto when in fact when they travelled back to Italy they found that it should have been spelt Ruberto. My great grandfather's name was Pasquali Ruberto. As i said i am just starting off doing this and really have no idea where to go..lol...so any information would be great...Thanks.....

I am looking for information on my grandfather Mario Ruberto. I do not know from what part of Italy he comes from, only that he went back quite a lot. He lived in Philadelphia in his early adulthood and then in Atlantic City and Florida. His wife (or 2nd wife) was named Celia. His son, my father, was named Victor.

My father was Antonio Ruberto We are from NJ.. my faathers brothers name was Michael. They came fom Naples Italy somewhere in the 1920 i think. My fther became a citizen in 1942.

Hi Tony,
I am not sure what part of Italy my grandfather was from. I will be seeing my grandmother tomorrow and will try to get more information, but like I said before she is 86 years old and her memory isn't as good as it use to be. She and my grandfather divorced many years ago. I told my mom what you said about feeling like the only Ruberto in the world and she said not to feel bad. Because she believed she was the only Ruberto in the world too. My parents have traveled all across the United States and no matter where they go my mom always finds a phone book, but never finds any listings for the name Ruberto. I will be in touch when I get more information.

I thought It was my daughter I was writing to because she had said something to me about this,, My family came to brooklyn and lived there all there lives, the names you talk about mean nothing to me,,all my life I grow up thinking that we were the only people in the word with that name,until one day I was in Valley Stream Long Island and saw a place called RUBERTO'S, I was stunded to see it and had to stop, I walked in and asked for the owner but he wasn't there,I was so sure until I got this computer that he had to be related to me,,do you know what part of italy your dad came from ?? if so there might be a tie,, I'll bet he had a big nose like my family did.lol and short, my grand dad was about 5' 4", he died at 78, I miss him alot,,

Hi Tony,
I received your reply, but can't find any link with my family. My grandfather was Frank or Francis Ruberto and he had several siblings. They were Antionette, Joseph, Charles,Rose,Frances, and Mary. They lived in New Rochelle, NY and apparently my great grandfather had a landscaping, and contruction business that went by the name of Roberts for business purposes only. My grandfather Frank was born Jan 4th, 1914 and died in July 1961. My Grandmother is still living, but has difficulty recalling information. Please let me know if any of this is familiar. My mother is Rosemarie Ruberto-Collier and her brothers are F. Joseph, Robert, and Edmund.

Thank you very much for your reply. My name is Anthony Ruberto too. But us Ruberto's are are from molise close to abrutz. I think my uncle Vince was lost in the second world war.
He sent letters from there but I don't know exactly were from. Also, one of my co-workers is also named Tony Ruberto- his parents are from Calabrese.

I am Tony Ruberto from Australia and I am not sure whether this information will help you. My grandfather was Vincent Ruberto DOB 1896 of Sambise Calabria. During the years 1915-1921 he was captured while fighting in World War 1 and inprisioned in a concentration camp in the former Yugolslvia which was known then as Russia. He travelled to the US twice in the years 1926 and 1930. Married Caterina Puglia in 1924. Lived in Argentina from 1956. His brothers were John, Tom and Frank also had three sisters. My uncle Vince was declared missing in the second world war in Russia. He wrote my father and grandparents often from concentration camp then stopped writing. Anybody know how to search Russian documnents declaring who was killed in these camps.

I have Ruberto relatives from Sambiase also.
My GGGrandfather was Fortunato Ruberto who was
born in Sambiase in abt 1853. He married Maria
Di Biase also from Sambiase. They had two children
Frank and Angela. Angela is my GGrandmother.
Fortunato came to Chicago about 1890. Frank
Ruberto ended up in Minneapolis. Angela came to
Chicago in 1906. I have begun to review the
birth records from Sambiase from early 1800's
to late 1860's at the local family history
center. There were a lot of Ruberto's born
in Sambiase. How far does your Ruberto line
go back?

Ruberto is a fairly common name in the Sambiase area. I have been searching the available birth/death/marriage records for Sambiase at the local family history center. Unfortunately, they only go from 1809-1861. If you have a Ruberto relative born in that time period I would gladly look it up for you. My Ruberto relatives that came to America were Fortunato and Maria DiBiase Ruberto and their two grown children Angela Ruberto Calfa (Chicago)and Frank Ruberto (Minneapolis).

I just looked at this surname board out of curiosity about my husband's surname. You may find it amusing that I married Thomas ("Tony") Anthony Ruberto and my name is Debra!! He was born in St. Paul, Minnesota to Anthony and Anne (Lichtenberg) Ruberto. Anthony's father was Sal Ruberto (married Florence Palumbo) who had two very successful Italian restaurants in St. Paul. Sal and his wife "Flemy" had these children: Carmen, Lew, Dan, Anthony,Stella, Robert, Richard. It's a small world and most of my husband's family remain in St. Paul. Yes, they are around 5ft 6in. and have noses like Robert DeNiro!
