Good evening. I am not a direct relative of Leander Ruble, but in the many years of researching the Rubel/Ruble family, I received his military record. It is a basic military index, and I have looked at thousands, that contains his burial information at Andersonville, GA. I have two copies and will send you a copy. My email is rrubel@att.net. If I can help, please let me know. If you send your address, I can get it in the mail.

I am not exactly sure about this but we seem to have a conflict of names of the children, however the names of the parents do match. I have George Ruble Jr. married Leah Junkerman and they had 13 children.

In my records I have:
George Ruble Jr. born October 14, 1774 in Fredrick County, VA and died May 1, 1858 in Hocking County, OH. He married Leah Junkerman born December 15, 1783 in Rockingham County, VA and died August 1, 1875 in Hocking County, OH. Both are buried in Vine Cemetery, Hocking County, OH.

George and Leah were married before 1810 in Rockingham County, VA.

They had the following children:
John Ruble
Mary Ruble
Elizabeth Ruble
David Randolph Ruble
Nancy Ruble
Matilda Ruble
Burlyn Ruble
Alexander Ruble
Andrew Ruble
George Ruble
Lucinda Ruble
Minna Ruble
Jacob Ruble

13 children total. The couple was busy! This was very typical for the Ruble family.

George Ruble Sr. the father of George Ruble Jr. also had a huge family. George Jr. was the first of 12 children. All of them males but one which was a female. Currently I have over 1900 names in my database and growing every year.

The best way to contact me is outside this website. My email address is: markruble@suddenlink.net and our website is www.ruble-family.com. The others I found on the internet.

He was called Delbert, Bert, Burt, Bertram, and Bert Noland Ruble.

He was born in Ohio in Nov. 1877 and died in East Chicago, Indiana about 1947.

Bert is listed in the 1900 Census of Lake County, Indiana, age 22. In 1902 he married Dora Schnebeig. Her name is sometimes listed at Dora Belle Schueberg.

In the 1930 Census Bert says he was born in Ohio and both his parents were born in Ohio.

He was my wife's grandfather. When she was a child her parents would take her to visit Ruble relatives in Logan, Ohio. She recalls staying at a farmhouse. She doesn't recall any of the names of the people there.

Any help with this family will be appreciated.

Thanks,

Jimmie Barnes
Homosassa, FL
jbarne17@tampabay.rr.com
I was married to a Robert Lee Ruble in the Marine Corps back in 1958, I have a son by Robert named Robert Eugene Ruble. Robert's mother, step father and half sister, Mary Jane, visited my son and I in Belgrade Minnesota. I don't remember exactly the year but it has been quite some time ago. My mom, dad and Bobby visited his grandmother in Missouri also. My son would like to know if his father is still alive and if he has any half brothers or sisters. He has made contact with a man in Wisconsin and they discovered they were related. Thank you. Bonnieza@tds.net

Thanks for your response. Francis Ruble was one of my uncles. I found on Rootsweb a family tree going back from Francis 5 generations to Mathias Ruble (Lackey-Harkelroad Family Project). I am looking for confirmation that this is valid information. The 1900 US Census for Osage Township, Bourbon County, Kansas lists John Ruble, my great-grandfather, as having been born in Pennsylvania in 1847. This is the only original documentary evidence I have. I have a copy of a transcribed will for Michael Ruble, Sr. from 1838 (USGenWeb Archives from Tony Rebuck). And I have copied the Dykstra-Ruble-McIntosh information.
Roy Owen Ruble (my grandfather), B. 1889, Kansas - John L. Ruble, B. 1847, Lewistown, Mifflin Co., PA - Michael Farmer Ruble, Jr. B. 1801, Ferguson Valley, Mifflin Co., PA - Michael Farmer Ruble, Sr. B.abt. 1768, Mifflin Co, PA - Mathias Ruble, B. 1744, Bavaria, Germany.
I would certainly appreciate any further information or corrections you have. Thank you.

Sorry for the delay in answering - I just got a message from someone else and saw yours.
My great grandfather was John Ruble, who was born in March, 1847, in Pennsylvania. This is according to the 1900 US Census, Osage Township, Bourbon County, Kansas. Then I found on Rootsweb the Lackey-Harkleroad Family Project, a family tree going back from one of my father's brothers, Francis Ruble, 5 generations to Mathias Ruble, born 1744 in Bavaria. I have found some information about these Rubles - wills of Mathias and Michael.
I basically am looking for confirmation that this is a correct descent. I'm pretty new at geneology, so if these are my Ruble ancestors, I can move on to other lines of ancestors.
Thanks for any help or confirmations you can provide.

Thank you Joyce for your response re: Madison Ruble. The Charles Ruble you speak of is the brother of Madison. I recently came across the info on the Sultana explosion and was able to put the two together. Madison's date of death is 9/1/1913 in Tazewell County, VA. He is buried there in Maple Hill Cemetery and according to his headstone his date of birth is 1/1/1830. He was married twice with 12 children and I have a great deal of info on that side. I was able to trace some of Charles's past after finding the Sultana info but you probably have a lot more.
My aunt married Madison's grandson Francis Vernon Ruble, who is still living at age 91.
As you said, Charles and Madison's parents died when they were young but who were they? All is have is Jonathan and Sarah (Givens or Giddings)Ruble. I would love to know more about the parents and did the boys have other siblings? I have a photo of Madison; if you're interested I'll send it to your email address. Thanks for any information you're willing to share. My contact info is swinterhalter@comcast.net

I wanted to ask your permission to give your answer to me to another gentleman who has a Ruble connection through R A Rogers b: 1915 Arkansas, mother Pearl S.
Thank you Deborah for your kind words about my Mother. She was the best mother that you could have and I'm sure my Dad was a good man too but sometimes when there is a divorce, peoples lives change and there is resentment which children pick up and never forget. I find in this geneology search that there wasn't too much divorce in the old days which I admire. You wonder if it was because of neccessity though because of such large families they had and times were difficult. I still admire them for their fortitude as it makes my life seem like a party every day! Take care of yourself and hope you beat that lupus. Thanks for the tip on spelling Ruble/Rubel

Am researching Susan Alice Ruble who married Daniel Icen Riffle. In the 1880 census she is listed as daughter of Charles and Cintha Ruble, but is crossed off. Perhaps because she had already married Daniel in June of 1879. This seems to be the Susan I'm looking for but cannot locate her parents in any family trees. Any help?

I may be barking up the wrong tree, but here goes. I have been trying to help my brother-in-law with his family history. We show a Charles Ruble, who had a brother Madison. Charles was injured in the Sultana explosion April 27, 1865 on the Mississippi River, following the Civil War. His name was listed as Rupel. According to some pension records, Charles did not know his exact birth date, his parents died when he was young and he was bound out. His brother, Madison told Charles that Charles was born about 1840. I believe it was closer to 1837. In the pension papers, Charles states that his brother Madison died Sept 1, 1913, I do not know where. I have more on the Charles Ruble line, but nothing on Madison Ruble. If you believe this is the line you are researching, please contact me at
Joyceschatz@aol.com
Columbus, Ohio

I believe she is sister to George Walter Ruble, born 14 Feb 1877 in Cabell Co., West Virginia, he died 30 August 1932 in Columbus, Franklin Co., Ohio. He was married to Pensia/Pency Keaton. I have a little more but not much, willing to share. This is my brother-in-law's family. His Mother was Cynthia Ruble, daughter of George Walter Ruble and Pensia Keaton. Cynthia Ruble married Wilbur Hale and they both died in Ohio.
Joyceschatz@aol.com
Columbus, Ohio

Married to Jessie ? on 11/25/1914.
I think I have figured it out.

The Mrs. Wm Ruble is Jerusha (Woolsey) Ruble who was born in 1815 and married William J. Ruble 26 Aug 1847. She died before the 1900 Census for he had remarried.

The H.A. Ruble is Hiram A. Ruble born Jan 1852. He married Sarah Jane Dewitt (b. Sept 1862) on 16 May 1879

George could be their son who was born October 1884 for he is not found after 1900.

Henson could be their son who also died in infancy.

I am researching my Elliott family and found a connection to the Ruble family. My great great grandfather, Robert Elliott, married Sarah Fannie Ruble (nee Turpin) in 1922. He was living in Nashua, Iowa at the time. In several newspaper articles there is mention of Curtis, George, and Allen Ruble from Clinton, IL visiting their mother. I would like to know if any Ruble family member has information on this marriage, and if anyone has a photo of Sarah Fannie Ruble. I have no photo of Robert, but would like to see what Sarah looked like.
I would be happy to share what I have on Robert, including his obituary mentioning his marriage and census records listing them both.

I am replying to my own post, but maybe this will help someone else. Found them, misspelled name on 1900 census transcription was Ruber. These 3 brothers, as well as several other sibs, lived in Burning Springs, Wirt County WV. Their father was Luke Ruble.

I have looked and looked for the parents of George Orville Ruble(1889-1964)in Wirt or Wood County. I believe he is Frank and Robert Ruble's brother. George is my grandfather, my father is Orville Jack Ruble, age 78 this year. Apparently George migrated to Mingo County WV at some point, which is where I grew up and my parents still live there.

All the census reports I have seen say George, Robert and Frank's parents were born in WV, and I think in this area, but I can't find anything from when they were children and part of their parents household. It is driving me crazy. They can't have just fell from the sky. Does anyone have any info on these 3 brothers?
Thanks, Lisa (Ruble) Stewart
