My grandmother's parents were John & Josephine(Necas) Ruda.
Her father's parents were Anton & Veronica (Micanek) Ruda.
Will let you know if I run across any possible
matches for your family also.
Thanks
Maggie

Hello...I am looking for a possible Ruda connection in Cuba. My great-grandmother was Joaquina Ruda and she was born in Cuba. I thought I would give you a try since there was quite a bit of migration to both Cuba and Argentina from Europe in the 1800's.

Thanks,

Robert

Hi Kristina,

The name Ruda comes definitively from the Baltic area. But it is not sure from which country (Prussia, Lithuania or Latvia), because in all 3 countries the meaning and also the spelling
is nearly the same. The meaning is "red-brown" and could refer to a profession (iron ore workers or someone who has to do with animals which hairs are red-brown). Other writings of this name are: Rudda, Ruddies, Rudies, Ruddaitis, Ruddaityte, Ruddaitiene, Rudat, Ruddat, Ruddigkeit a.s.o.

BR,

Diana Ruddigkeit form Cologne, Germany
