my great grandma was Rosanna Ruel, she was raised on an Indian reservation in Canada, by Cheif Big Bear, My daughter knows the name of the tribe. Rosanna had children: Robert ,Arthur , Claude, Eddie,Alma, Carmella, Boisvert/(Greenwood in english ). She has a family tree written in French, we are in the process of converting it to English, and updating it. It hasn't been updated in about 100 years. I know she mentioned that relatives came over on the Mayflower, doctors, nurses, butchers, lawyers. we also had Vikings as relatives. That's all I know from the Ruel family until they complete the book.

Elizabeth Bleau???? All our family records indicate her name to be Elizabeth Pleaux Ruel. We have several newspaper articles about her thta said she only spoke in French and could not read or write and that the spelling was by the way apparently her name sounded. She lived to be more than 100 yrs old. She was married to Louis Ruel, a Maine Native and died Jan 21, 1913. It said she was one of 5 children whose father died when she was one yr old.

Looking for information on the Ruel family of Saint-Léon-de-Standon, Québec for my brother-in-law Pete Ruel. Laurent Ruel married in 1860 at Saint-Malachie, Canada-Est (Québec) to Angile Pouliot. There childred were born at Saint-Léon-de-Standon:

Esdras, c. 1865
Delia, c. 1867
Léon, c. 1872
Léonie, c. 1875
Joseph, c. 1879

I am looking for ancestry of Laurent Ruel and his wife Angile Pouliot. There son Esdras married at Saint-Leon in 1888 to Alphonsine Bisson. After marrying, Edsras and Alphonsine Ruel settled in Ashland, New Hampshire.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Funny you should mention Sanford,Maine as I just picked up a box of pictures with Ruels and they hail from Sanford and before that Ham Nord,Quebec.

I am looking for information regarding Adele Ruel who was in Detroit, Michigan, in September, 1927, when she gave birth to a baby girl who was baptized Loretta Theresa Ruel. The birth occurred at Providence Hospital on September 14, 1927. Loretta Theresa Ruel was baptised on September 20, 1927. Her baptismal sponsor was Lois Ducharme.

Loretta Theresa was given up for adoption in April, 1929.
Her adoptive parents gave her the name Jean Loretta Varty.
Jean Loretta married Eugene Edward Swantek on August 22, 1953. They had two children; Sandra Sue born July 2, 1954, and David Eugene, born May 31, 1957

Jean Loretta died in Harper Woods, Michigan (near Detroit) on January 21, 2000.

BERLIN-Irene R. "Blondie" Beaulac, 84, the relative of area residents, died
yesterday after a long illness. She was born in Berlin, the third of nine children
of Joseph and Larua (LeBreton) Ruel. She attended local schools and was a
lifelong resident of Berlin, where she was a member of St. Kieran's Church,
now the Good Shepherd Parish. She worked as a packer in the towel room
division at Brown Company for 20 years. She was an avid gardener who
loved the beach and baking for family and friends. Her husband, Elmer A.
Beaulac, died in 1996. Six brothers and sisters, Phillip Ruel, Alice Othot,
Francis Ruel, Robert Ruel, Joseph Ruel and Yvette Viger, also died
previously. She is survived by a daughter, Elaine N. Roundy; a sister, Juliette
Pare of Canaan; a brother, Emery Ruel of Keystone Heights, Fla.; a grandson;
two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian
burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 11 a.m. at St. Anne Church of the
Good Shepherd Parish, with interment in the St. Kieran Cemetery. Calling
hours will be held at the Bryant Funeral Home 180 Hillside Ave., Berlin on
Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and on Wednesday from 10 to
10:30 a.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Berlin Health Department,
Home Health, 168 Main., Berlin 03570.

Note: I am of no relation, but my sympathies go out to those of you who are.
This is here as a lasting memorial for Mrs. Beaulac.

She may have a relative named Seraphin and a brother named Louis from Adams, Mass.

dad's grandmother. She lived in Fall River, Mass. b.1851 in Canada, d.1937. Their parents were Anselme Ruel Anastasie

They are my great grand parents!
I have a lot of information but not all. I only have them with the one child that I came through and that is Marie Ruel who married Laurent Plante on 26 Nov. 1877. I have been told that she was born sometime in 1853 and died on 25 Dec. 1914. Would love to get the back up to this info and perhaps a better birth date. The strangest thing I have found is that Marie was buried in Canada and her husband is buried here in Providence, RI. Would really like to share and up date my own records with the brothers and sisters and any pictures you may have. I actually have a photo of Laurent and Marie with their family. Looking foward to your reply.

I have info on the Ruel line going back quite a ways but would like to add on to the lines after they got to Michigan in around 1860. Charles Ruel with his children Archie, Charles, Eli, Peter, Alice, Georgianna, Zelios (and I think there were a few more but I can't think of them off of the top of my head) came to Houghton County, Michigan. I am descended from Peter who is said to have had 21 children (I have found the names of 17--15 of whom lived.

My Great Grandmother was Selina Mary Ruel She Married a Arthur Joseph Geoffroy and I know the Geoffroys lived in Maine because My grandfather Oliver Joseph Geoffroy met and married my grandmother Fabianna Sevigny in Maine. Its a long shot but I was thinking the Ruels you speak of in Maine might have her name in a family file on the Ruels???
