NEW BOSTON, Ill. -- Jimmy V. Ruggles, 67, of New BOSTON, died Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2000, at Unity Hospital.

Services will be at the Fippinger Funeral Home in Aledo. The Revs. Joseph Patterson and Robert Anderson will officiate. The body will be cremated and private inurnment will be at a later date.

Mr. Ruggles was born April 26, 1933, in Downing, Mo., the son of Joseph B. and Cleda D. Elschlager Ruggles. He married Elaine Ketelsen on Aug. 9, 1958, in Buffalo Prairie.
He received most of his education from local schools and graduated from Reynolds High School.

He farmed in the Buffalo Prairie area for many years and sold McNess Products. He and his wife ran Ruggles Lunch Stand, serving at area horse shows and auctions. For six years he worked in environmental services at Muscatine General Hospital, and was later self-employed in Ruggles Floor Care.

He was a member of the Eliza Lion's, Buffalo Prairie Presbyterian Church, Muscatine Moose Lodge, and the Illinois City Saddle Club.

He enjoyed riding horses, playing cards, dancing, camping, and spending time with his family.

Survivors include two daughters, Vickie Glidden of Aledo and Pamela Benningfield and her husband, Ed, of Milan; a son, Steven Ruggles of Colona, Ill.; four grandchildren, Daniel and Carrie Glidden of Aledo and Lisa and Stacy Benningfield of Milan; five sisters, Orta L. Comstock, Dortha R. McMurry, Ruth D. Swank, Mary L. Orr, Virginia E. Ruggles; and three brothers, Joseph J. Ruggles, Derwood K. Ruggles, and David J. Ruggles.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Tyra B. Bull, and two brothers, Harold B. Ruggles and Garland E. Ruggles.
