RUH, HERMANN...was born July 18, 1869 on the east point of South Bass Island, and is a son of Charles and Christina (Brandt) Schmidt Ruh. Charles was born in Baden, Germany, Dec. 21, 1834, and in 1853 came to the U.S. and settled in Sandusky, O.; there he and Mrs. Ruh were married Apr. 17, 1854. She was bn. in Baden, Germany, Aug. 10, 1828. They came to Put-in-Bay in 1854, and Charles worked for Mr. Rivera, owner of the Island. [more details omitted] Hermann married Wilhelmina Ritter, daug. of Ernest, who came to Sandusky from Baden, Germany (where Wilhelmina was born) in 1882, where he was a carpenter and contractor.
