Most of the posts i have seen here make some reference to the "black forest" region of Germany as the point scource of German Ruh immigrants. The only evidence of the Ruh surname I see on the internet is in Marriage records from the area of freiburg, germany during the mid-1800's and I believe that many people with the surname Ruh are descended from the Ruh family of this region, and in particular the spa town of Bad Krozingen outside of freiburg. maybe someone knows the history a little bit better than I? interested to hear if anyone else has Ruh connections with the freiburg area.
