In 1812 George Schaffer, his wife & 3 sons were the first to settle in the wilderness that became DuBois....According to historical accounts, John Rumbarger was living in Schaffer's home in 1871 when John DuBois started developing property in Clearfield Co..Rumbarger sold some lots, & the town became divided into two rival districts, one known as Rumbarger; where mostly coal miners lived, & the other as DuBois, which was populated with lumbermen who worked in the mills that Dubois built...." not my family
