Some of the problem might be the given name John. Their Lutheran church required that all males be given the christening first name John, Hans, Johannes or any form of the name John plus the name the family gave him - even if the family named him John, he would be John John in church records and yours John William. Long ago there was much arguing whether my ancestor was Henry or John Henry - both right - one being the name the family gave the other the christening name.
Asemus was probably the nickname for Eurasemus/Eurasmus a Biblical name.

Rebecca, I find you on FB, but from there I cannot figure out which "website on FB" that you are referring to. I am only familier with the FB Group, run by Bill Rombough, but you don't seem to be a member. It is called Rombough-Rambach-Rumbaugh, and is at http://www.facebook.com/#!/groups/6648965970/. Is there another one? Bill also maintains a comprehensive family tree on ancestry.ca, and a version on rootsweb.

Linda, I also descend from Jacob (1764). I wish we could find more evidence to clear up whether John William is really a son of Asemus. (I suspect that he might be a nephew.)

Becky, your grandfather Gene and my mother Ethel Rumbaugh King were first cousins. Ask Al Gene. Wondered where he was. Been working on our ancestry since 1978 so have lots of data on the Rumbaughs, Trubys, Lauffers, Drums, etc. Was at the old home place in Hillville, Aarmstrong Co. PA last year and visted with Anita's ex Bob Beatty.

I have all the information about George Washington Rumbaugh. I have also read about the trip and passengers on the Pink Mary. He was second born of Elizabeth Truby and John Rumbaugh.

I too am in a linage of Asimus Rambach/Maria Catherine Rambach. Children: David Rambach, Hans Jacob Rambach, Anna Elisabeth Rambach, and Syllba Rambach. All who were passengers out of war torn Palatines from Germany. I would love to get information from others that can connect back to the ship Pink Mary Sept. 29, 1733. I am currently going through my father's heritage back through to George Washington Rumbaugh.

I am Henrietta Rumbaugh Kutz, daughter of Henry Lofton Rumbaugh (Oldest son of William H. and Delleral Clinton) I have been searching for Delleral for the last 50 years.I have quite a bit of info on W.H.and his 4 children; and Ben Franklin Rumbaugh, including a copy of the his marriage certificate to Delleral. I am unable to find her death information, altho my father told me she died in Arkansas and was buried in Jenny Lind Cemetery. I am looking for information as well. Clarence Heath Rumbaugh was born in Westmoreland to Sarah A Fisher (Summy, her first husband) between two marriages with no information on who Clarence Rumbaugh's father is. The father was between 1874 when her first husband died and 1890 when she married her 2nd/3rd husband.

Susanna Truby and sister Elizabeth married brothers - your Susannah to David Rumbaugh and my Elizabeth to John Rumbaugh. John and Elizabeth remained in Perry Twp., Armstrong Co. PA while David and Susannah moved to IN.
The Jacob Truby and Maria Magdalena Lauffer Bible passed down through Elizabeth and John's line. I do not know where the Bible might be now, but before 1936 it was in the possession of Nancy Florence "Nan" (Rumbaugh) Davis who died 1936 in Perry Twp., Armstrong Co., Pa. Nan, my grandfather's first cousin, was the daughter of Simeon Truby Rumbaugh and first wife Elvira Robinson.
Not at home presently, I am working from memory, so can't cite exactly, but in the late 1920s/early 1930s, a granddaugher of one of one of Susannah and Elizabeth's Truby brothers wrote Nan from Washington, DC, asking for proof so she might join DAR. Nan typed off the data in the Truby family Bible and sent to her Truby kin.
I have a copy of that typed record in my files at home, but will not be home for a couple of weeks.
I have your Isabelle married to Henry Cooper. Correct?

Looking for information on the Rumbaughs who lived in Wooster, Ohio. They had at least one daughter by the name of Flora born 1853 and died 1895. She married John Nolan. They also had at least one son by the name of John born 1868 and died 1950. He married Ann Seitz and they had two children named Sterling and Gladys.

The original form of the name was: Rambach; and it is of Alsatian origin. At the time the earliest Rambach immigrant I have found, Alsace was part of Germany, or at least was Germanic. The name is German in origin.

I know they come originally from germany, changed their name in rumbaugh etc. but i want to know if you have more german rambach's in your line. I recently find my ancestors who were Rambach/Rumbaugh of my grandmothers side of the family. No one in the family can tell me anything about this. She died before i came up at the idea of ancestor-research. In my recent search of this name, i found out that my gmothers name was related to john william rumbaugh. I read that you have an cd of it....can i please ask you if i can have/buy a copy. I live in the Netherlands, so i dont no how we are gonna do this! if its possible. Or otherwise by email?

Alsace Lorraine at times has been Germany or France depending on who won the war. Palatine, Germany where Asemus was born in 1703 Rheinlandland-Pfalz, Germany is where Maria Catherine was born in 1700.

Yes, this was my G/Grandmother. Her son was Alex and he died oer Berlin as a fighter pilot in WWII.Alice is Roxanna's daughter, who is my G/mother, which is still alive. Do youhave more info and willing to share. I am still trying to get the family tree together on all of my families. Thank you for responding and I look forward to hearing from you again.
