Thanks for your post. It's always nice to find long lost relatives. I have the marriage license for Thomas Rupert and it does show Canaday and Elizabeth as parents. Based on what others have posted on Ancestry, I have Daniel's parents as Johannes George Ruppert and Susan Altman. I would be interested to know if John and Mary Rupert are the correct parents or if John and Susan are. Searches of the census show Canady working on someone elses estate as a farmer in 1850.

My great grandmother was Mary Rupert sister to William Thomas Rupert so I guess we are long lost relatives.

I only have the parents of Canady as John and Mary Rupert. I do have him married to Elizabeth Buckley whose parents were James and Hannah Sanford Buckley.

Found a Thomas Rupert buried in Mt Carmel Cemetery who was born in 1867 and died in 1911.

Found Laura Rupert buried in Mt Carmel Cemetry who was born in 1876 and died in 1953.

Obit - The Progress, Clearfield, PA, Tuesday, August 25, 1953 for Laura R Thurston (Laura Rupert Thurston).

Thanks for your help. My doubt about Henry's parents is that he lists in two census years that his father was born in PA and his mother in Germany. If Andreas, son of Abraham, was really Henry's father then his mother was Elizabeth Landis and she was born in PA. So I'm leaning towards different parents for Henry. Did your David have brothers born in OH?

I am trying to connect Ruperts in Rush Township, Tuscarawas County, Ohio with Casper Rupert. The LDS Pedigree Resource file suggests Henry C b 1854 in OH was a son of Andreas b.1824 in PA, son of Abraham b.1790 Rockland, Berks PA, son of Johan Casper b. 1763 Rockland Berks, PA, son of Casper b.1712 Germany and Anna Barbara. I can't connect Henry to Andreas (Andrew) through any census records. The earliest I have with any certainty is Henry in Rush Township in 1880. I'm hoping your Stark county Rupert clan might be connected in some way.

I've recently begun to reserch my ancestry and I'm looking to validate the birth and realtionship of my gg-grandfather and grandmother William Thomas Rupert and Laura Stagner as well as their ancestors.

My initial research has my surname history as Floyd Rupert (me - Summit, OH) > Floyd A Rupert (Summit, OH)married to > Floyd J Rupert (Clearfield, PA) > Joseph Floyd Rupert (Clearfield Co.) > William Thomas Rupert (Clearfield Co) > Daniel Canady Rupert? (Armstrong Co.) > John G Ruppert ? (Armstrong Co.) > Johann Rupert? (North Hampton) > George Carl Rupert? (North Hampton)

I’m good for copies of records back to William but past him I don’t have much. The information I have for William Thomas Rupert is that he was born 8/28/1867 in Bell Township. He went by Thomas according to some sources. He was married to Laura Stagner on 9/7/1892 in Bell Township (I do have the marriage cert. coming in the mail.)I have a range of dates for William's death from 1911- 4/5/1913.

Laura Stagner I have has being born on 4/18/1875 in Jefferson Co and passing away 8/24/1953 in Bell Township. I have her parents has Daniel Stagner and Elizabeth Varner.

If anyone has any suggestions or advice on where to look to get copies of records or get additional information I would greatly appreciate it. I would love to hear from any long lost relatives.
Hi, Thanks for your reply and it's nice to know about another distant relative with Catherine Littlefawn in their
family tree. The best summary of information on her came from the research of another person on the message boards,
daba2735, so check out his postings. I have looked up online
about the Schoharie area of New York State, where Catherine
presumably came from, also about the Indians in that area; you could check that out as there is a bit on history of the Schoharie. Also the sources "Early Ontario Settlers,"
"Even More Palatine Families," and of course, the United Empire Loyalists list which identifies Peter Rupert, says he was born 1719 and his wife Catherine Littlefawn born 1722. You probably already have this.
On Ancestry.com I checked Canadian censuses for the surname
Faun, Fawn, Littlefaun but didn't find anything but a "Catie." There doesn't seem to be a marriage or death record for Catherine but that doesn't mean I won't search further! All the best of luck and let's stay in touch if either of us comes across anything additional.
Thank you for the information on Ruperts Mohawk Valley/Osnabruck. I really appreciate the sharing of
your research as I expand my search on the life of Peter Ruper's wife Catherine Littlefawn from the Schoharie listed in the UEL book. I may not be replying on the right 'thread,' but wanted to make sure you know how much I appreciate your reply. I would like to find out when she died and if her death is listed anywhere? A number of years back he tried to get the township to buy the cabin for historical reasons. They declined and the cabin was sold and moved. Bob is in his 80,s and lived his entire life in Rupert. I know he had a deep interest in the history of it but dont know how far back it goes. Ethan Ikeler

Trooper, Would appreciate directions to the cemetery. Am glad to have another person with good info to help me out. My grandfather, Howard Rupert started our tree 20 yrs ago before he died and by a piece of good luck I was able to get copies of everything he did plus see the originals. My biggest thing now is trying to find pics of as many of the people as I can to put on my tree. Patch
Pador/Peter Rupert Osnabruck

Good Afternoon,

I would like to clear up some confusion about the Ruperts of Osnabruck Ontario. While researching some of the Upper Canada Land claims that the Rupert’s made I came across a claim from Peter Rupert that was rejected by the Crown on the grounds that he had already received his land.

It turns out there were two Peter Ruperts in Osnabruck and they were both brothers. The older brother was called Pador/Pater. This is the brother who married Catherine Littlefawn. In some UEL records he is referred to as Peter the Elder.

The younger brother is sometimes called Peter Jr. He married Elizabeth Helmer. They were both the sons of Adam Rupert. This was confirmed in correspondence from John Crysler who knew both of the brothers in Osnabruck and knew the family from the Mohawk Valley.

It wasn't uncommon for German families to give the same first name to a younger sibling.
Good Afternoon Lauralee,

In the book United Empire Loyalist Lineages it lists Catherine Littlefawn b 1722 as an Indian. I saw on a message board for Rupert’s a while back a Caty Fawn who was supposed to have been on a New York state Indian census.

Unfortunately, Catherine died shortly after she arrived in Upper Canada so she is unlikely to be on any Upper Canada census.
Good Afternoon,

The John Crysler's correspondence was from 1807 and this was to support Peter Rupert Jr after the Crown rejected his land claim. In his letter, John Crysler states the two Peters are brothers and both were sons of Adam Rupert who died in the 1790s. This letter is in the National Archives of Canada, Ottawa.

The birthdates for Pador/Catharine's children I have found are often wrong. Pador's eldest son Adam was born in 1775 this is confirmed by the 1851 census. On some family trees they state 1761 as his birth year. I believe his son Peter who married Elizabeth Winter was also born later than 1763.

The confusion I think comes from Pador's two brothers Francis Adam born 1761 and Peter - married Elizabeth Helmer - born 1763.
Peter Rupert of Osnabruck land claim

Good Afternoon,

The children of Peter Rupert of Osnabruck, Ontario made a claim for additional land in 1851. The land claim form listed their ages as follows:

Adam Rupert 47
Peter Rupert 57
Henry Rupert 55
Conrad Rupert 51
Mary Rupert m Thomas Porter of Darlington 62
Barbara Rupert 49
Catherine Rupert m Henry Cole of Osnabruck 45
Elizabeth Rupert 42

I believe this was the Peter Rupert who married Elizabeth Helmer. The 1851 Canadian Census lists an Elizabeth Ruport aged 84 living in Osnabruck with an Adam Ruport aged 47 and his family.
I have been researching this Rupert line and my documentation tells me that Pador (1719-1802)was sometimes called Peter Sr. He married Catherine Littlefawn (1722-1790). Some of their children were Adam and Peter(1763-1845) who married Elizabeth Winters(1769-1818).
The children were born in Osnabruck and Pador and Catherine were from Schoharie Valley, NY. I would be interested to chat with John Crylser about the Rupert family from Osnabruck and Mohawk Valley.

Some are listed as being of Columbiana OH.

my connection - I am (and have been for years) my Lydia Rupert b. 26 May 1818 someplace in PA d. 20 Mar 1905 in Northumberland Co., PA. She was married to John Hoffman about 1841 Northumberland Co. PA and there seems to be a connection to the state of Ohio as well with this family though they never lived there that I can find.

I am trying to find out if the Lydia Rupert daughter of Benjamin Rupert is my Lydia Rupert who married John Hoffman. Her birth and death dates are from tomb stones and for a while I had her birth at c. 1820 so that would fit.

Thanks for any help with my Rupert connections.

AmyAnn

Re: Caspar Rupert, Germ. to PA

Patch, Sorry it has taken so long for me to get back; But here we go.
Caspar purchased 74 acres in Berks County in 1767,it is in Rockland Twp., Berks Co..
Upon Caspar's death around 1790, his son Adam, born in 1755 & was Caspar's fifth child, and first born son took over said 74 acres after he served in the Penna. 10th. Regiment during the Revolutionary War.
Adam married Anna Barbara Zimmerman of Berks Co. on or around 1775.
Adam lived on said property until his death Jan. 11, 1830.
Adam, his wife, Anna, their son Daniel, & Daniel's wife Barbara Ann are buried on a private, marked cemetery on the original 74 acres. it is called the "Ruppert Cemetery". Yes, two P in last name, as our name origianlly was. Said cemetery is located: On the eastern end of Princetown Rd. at New Jerusalem, make a sharp right turn onto Lobachville Rd., go 1.3 miles, make left turn onto Schweitz Rd., go 1.2 miles to the Cemetry that is on the RIGHT, about 20 yards off the road in a clump of trees.
Cemetery is approx. 28'X 28' and is borderd by hand laid field stone wall, probably laid by Adam's children after his death.
There are [6] grave markers that are inscribed and [5] field ston markers.
NOTE: Caspar married Anne Barbara Ehrlander in 1744.
It is unknow for sure as to where Caspar is burried; But as a practicing Lutheran, Caspar and his family attended the Mertz Church in Rockland Twp., approx 5 miles from his 74 acres. There are several Ruppert grave sites, and being that Caspar was a Parishner of the Mertz Church it is likely that he is in an unmarked grave in the church cemetery.
Patch, I hope this info. helps, I have additional info. that might be of value to you. Would probably be better if we could go over it by phone.
Let me know.
Trooper

Hi;
My Great Grandmother was Sarah Mattice who married George Abraham Paupst (or Papst). I think Sarah Mattice's parents were Amanda Elizabeth Rupert and Adam Mattice, but, I am not certain. I do not have a pedigree for Amanda Elizabeth Rupert either.
I was wondering if you knew if Adam and Amanda's daughter Sarah was the one that married my Ggrandfather?
Regards
Gailand
